Other parents suggested several methods to handle the situation depending on if this is a rare occurrence for the childA mom has reached a parenting crossroad.
The concerned parent turned to the community forum Mumsnet for advice on whether she should cancel her planned mother-daughter date to the movie theater after her 4-year-old daughter had a 'huge meltdown.'
'She generally is very easy-going,' the mom wrote. 'However, every now and again her temper gets quite out of control at the click of a finger.'
'She couldn't find something and looked downstairs and was upset when she couldn't find it,' she continued. 'I found it. When I showed it to her she just went ballistic — screaming and crying. I tried to speak to her calmly, but she continued to scream and tried to lash out at me.'
The mom also noted that her daughter 'completely destroyed' a garland that was around her bed amid the meltdown.
'My mom was meant to be looking after my youngest and I was due to take my daughter to the cinema. Shall I cancel the day out or am I being unreasonable?' she asked the forum about how to proceed.
Mumsnet users had mixed responses, with some offering suggestions.
'Tell her she needs to earn the trip,' one reader said. 'Give her a couple of jobs to do to earn the trip back so you are rewarding positive behavior.'

'If this is rare for her to behave this way, I'd let her calm down, offer her some comfort, explain destroying her garland wasn't acceptable and that she's not to take her anger out on things and damage them and tell her a better way of being angry,' another person recommended. 'Then, I'd draw a line under it and stick to your original plans.'

Chelsea draw up three-player shortlist for new left-winger

Chelsea will prioritise the signing of a new left-winger once the club's deal for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap is completed. Delap has completed the first part of his medical ahead of joining Chelsea in a £30m deal. The England u-21 international will compete with Nicolas Jackson for a place in the side next season. Once that deal is finalised, Chelsea will turn their attention to a right-footed left-winger. Advertisement The Blues are weighing up the addition of another wide player, amid the uncertainty over Mykhailo Mudryk's future. Mudryk is currently serving a provisional suspension after an adverse finding was found in a doping sample. Regardless of the outcome, the appeal process is set to continue into the new campaign. Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Chelsea have three transfer targets under consideration. Chelsea to target Garnacho, Williams or Gittens as new left-winger The West Londoners could revisit their interest in Alejandro Garnacho, after enquiries were made in January. Garnacho has been told to find a new club this summer after being informed that he does not feature in Ruben Amorim's plans. Advertisement Chelsea also retain interest in Athletic Club winger Nico Williams. The Spain international has a €58m (£48.9m) release clause in his contract. Real Madrid have been named as suitors of the 22-year-old late, amid doubts over Rodrygo's future at the Bernabeu. Jamie Gittens is the third player on Chelsea's shortlist. The England u-21 international had a breakthrough campaign with Borussia Dortmund in 2024/25. Gittens ranked second in the Bundesliga for successful take-ons and scored 12 goals in all competitions. The 20-year-old previously spent time in the Chelsea academy prior to his move to Germany. Finding Strength Through Chronic Illness

Roughly 133 million people in the U.S. struggle with chronic illnesses every day, and yet they're rarely talked about. Struggling with a chronic illness can oftentimes feel isolating when the pain endured is invisible, or when it feels impossible to explain what it's like to live in constant fear that severe pain could be on the horizon. For Tina Medlin, who's been living with Crohn's disease for roughly 30 years, she knew these feelings well. But instead of just accepting them as the norm, she set out to create a community where those with chronic illnesses feel supported, cared for, and heard. Tina discusses how this mission led her to pioneer the Warrior Braids Ministry, a Christ-centered nonprofit that offers resources, support and community to those who live with chronic illnesses.
