First Look at the Villain of Toy Story 5, LilyPad

Like it or not, Pixar is pushing forward with more Toy Story movies, and it looks like the fifth one is going to put technology front and center.
Just in, we have a look at LilyPad, the tablet who will be the main antagonist of Toy Story 5. Check her out:
'Toy Story 5' was shown at France Annecy Festival today
The opening scene was shown which included a shipment of Buzz Lightyear's crashing on a Island

So far, we know that LilyPad has a disagreement with the toys on what's best for Bonnie. It definitely sounds like she's like Anxiety in Inside Out 2 , and it's possible we get to watch her as she makes Bonnie obsessed with screentime—just like modern-day kids (and even adults) are.
As for the second photo, it's also been revealed that there's a shipment full of Buzz Lightyears that get washed up on an island. Since the series like to keep coming back to Buzz thinking that he's a space ranger, it looks like TS5 could be running with that concept by making a whole island of Buzzes who all think they're stranded on an odd planet.
Though a lot of fans think that Toy Story 3 was the perfect end to the trilogy, these newer movies do feel like expanded shorts that give the characters more fun adventures as compared to serious life transitions. Sure, Woody rides off with Bo Peep in the last movie, but it does seem like he's going to find some kind of way to be wrangled back into Bonnie's life. He does keep posted with Buzz and the rest of Andy's old toys; maybe Woody and Bo are the ones that find the island of Lightyears and somehow have to save them?
We'll just have to wait and see till we get the first teaser.
Toy Story 5 is set to hit theaters on June 19, 2026.

Harry Potter Veteran on the Toxic Reaction to Reboot's New Snape, Paapa Essiedu

Like it or not, current fandom culture is now plagued with all kinds of toxicity whenever a POC actor is announced for a franchise that was dominantly white for a time. It happened with Star Wars , and it's now happening with the Harry Potter reboot with Paapa Essiedu being cast as the new Professor Snape. With so many people complaining about the casting, a Potter vet, Jason Isaacs, who played Lucius Malfoy in the original movies, has stepped up to bat for Essiedu. During a talk with Collider at Fans Expo, Isaacs says, ' Paapa Essiedu is one of the best actors I've ever seen in my life. I've seen some people online who are being rude about him. What they're being is racist… All the cast of the new 'Harry Potter' TV series are amazing. They will be swallowing their tongues, hopefully — you know, their digital tongues — when they see what [Paapa] does on screen.' While there are toxic and bigoted reactions to Essiedu getting cast, there are also some concerns on the opposite end of the spectrum where they are worried that casting a black Snape actually has different implications for other characters—specifically Harry's dad who was Snape's bully. Some think it would be hard to root for Harry's dad if he was bullying a black student; but on the contrary, some think that an easy fix for this problem is to make James Potter and the rest of his gang POC to make things… less racist? I guess bullying is more forgivable as long as it's inclusive. We don't know when we'll get a first look at the reboot, but the main trio and adults have already been cast, and production is expected to start very soon. No release date has been set for the Harry Potter reboot, but fans are expecting it to come out sometime next year or early 2027.

Queer Erasure: These Reveals for Disney Pixar's Elio are Getting Out of Hand

Even before Disney Pixar's Elio was released, the movie was already getting bashed for not having enough marketing and looking pretty generic; and while some fans were hoping it could pull off an Elemental and get good word of mouth, this latest reveal about the film may have just cemented the failure of Elio at the box office. According to a recent reveal from The Hollywood Reporter, some Pixar staffers had revealed that Elio underwent a major rework—particularly removing several queer elements associated with the character to make him more masculine and general audience friendly. ' I was deeply saddened and aggrieved by the changes that were made… The exodus of talent after that cut was really indicative of how unhappy a lot of people were that they had changed and destroyed this beautiful work,' says former Pixar asst. editor Sarah Ligatich. As it turns out, much like the original director Adrian Molina, Elio was supposed to be queer-coded in the film, with implications that he was very much into fashion and that he even had a crush on a boy. While the movie was said to have been enjoyed by test audiences, they were then asked if any would watch it in theaters and nobody had raised their hand—resulting in the heads of Pixar to rework the movie and make Elio more 'masculine'. An anonymous Pixar staffer confirmed: 'It was pretty clear through the production of the first version of the film that [studio leaders] were constantly sanding down these moments in the film that alluded to Elio's sexuality of being queer.' As you would expect, when this news broke out, several people online had decides to speak out about Pixar. This wasn't the only time they had done queer erasure. A few months back, they were also getting flak for removing a transgender storyline in their Disney+ series Win or Lose. If anything, Elio is still getting some nice word-of-mouth from anyone whose seen it, but after the release of the THR report, fans are now thinking this could be the final nail in Elio 's box office coffin. For now, we'll just have to wait and see. In the meantime, Elio is now showing in theaters.
