Drinkwitz, Harper on ‘Zou to You tour
SPRINGFIELD, Mo–Lets talk Mizzou Tiger athletics.
The annual 'Zou to you tour swung through Springfield Thursday afternoon.
Football coach Eli Drinkwitz, assistant basketball coach Dicky Nutt and new women's basketball coach Kellie Harper met with Mizzou fans at lunch time.
It was Harper's first trip to Springfield since she got the Mizzou job back in mid-March.
She was the Lady Bears coach for six seasons and led Missouri State to two NCAA tournaments.
Eli Drinkwitz' football team was 10-3 last season and won the Music City Bowl.
Both coaches say it's important to get out in the Show-Me State and meet the fans.
'We're appreciative of the fans. They drive on Saturdays from a long way away to come watch us play. For us to be able to make that trip easy for them to come to celebrate their passion is exciting,' said Drinkwitz.
'It's always good to touch base with your fan base. They need to hear you. They need to see you. We do not take for granted. When they're in the stands it matters and it makes a difference. It does and we don't take that for granted. This is our way of getting out and saying hello to our fans,' said Harper.

Phillies' Bryce Harper 'Can't Really Function' With Current Wrist Injury
Phillies' Bryce Harper 'Can't Really Function' With Current Wrist Injury originally appeared on Athlon Sports. As the Philadelphia Phillies continue their intrastate series with the Pittsburgh Pirates, they'll be without the face of the franchise. Advertisement First baseman Bryce Harper has been placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to Friday, with right wrist inflammation. And according to the slugger, it sounds more severe than any Philly fan would've liked to hear. "It got to the point where I can't really function on a baseball field or hit a baseball," Harper said before Saturday's game. "It's a good time for me to take some time and get it right." Harper largely echoed manager Rob Thomson's thinking with that answer. Thomson said Friday that anything involving the hands or feet is concerning and wouldn't be something the club overlooks. Bryce Harper has made an enormous impact on the Phillies' lineup when healthy. Just like in past seasons, the offense has struggled to score without Ross-Imagn Images Harper went on to confirm that this injury is the same issue he dealt with throughout last season. This time around, it started early and hasn't gone away. Advertisement "(I) felt it early in the season and tried to play through it as long as I could," Harper said. "Just trying to get through it the best I can. It's going to take some time (to heal)." Harper did not offer any timetable on when he could return. The first day he's eligible to do so is Monday, June 16, when the Phillies travel to Miami. Shortly after that, the New York Mets come to Philadelphia for three games from June 20-22. The Phillies would like to get him back for a series that will have major implications for the National League East Division race. Harper is slashing .258/.368/.446 with nine home runs, 13 doubles and 34 RBIs. Prospect Otto Kemp, who made his major league debut Saturday, is holding Harper's spot on the roster for now. Phillies stuck in massive tailspin as they lose for ninth time in last 10 games
About a week and a half ago, the Phillies had won 11 of their last 12 games and led the NL East by two games over the Mets. They've looked almost completely unrecognizable since and are now behind New York by 4.5 games. After looking like one of the best teams in baseball to open the season, the Phillies have lost nine of their last 10, are averaging only three runs per game in that stretch and just got swept in a three-game series by the lowly 26-40 Pirates. Advertisement 3 Kyle Schwarber has batted .250 with 10 hits, 2 homers and 6 RBIs in his last 10 games. Charles LeClaire-Imagn Images The bats are to blame for a hefty majority of the team's struggles. Since their series against the Brewers May 30, the Phillies have tallied just 55 hits in nearly 300 at-bats. They've hit just eight home runs and batted in 25 runs. They've walked just 19 times and struck out 68 times. Advertisement Their slashing line over the abysmal stretch sits at a .187 batting average, .239 on-base percentage and .320 slugging percentage. Philadelphia has lost five straight and scored just eight runs across those games — tallying just one run in four of them. 3 Bryce Harper looks frustrated after a Phillies loss to the Blue Jays. AP The first domino to fall that perhaps led to the brutal stretch was two-time NL MVP Bryce Harper going down with injuries. Advertisement He took a fastball off of his surgically repaired right elbow against the Braves on May 27, missed the next five games, returned for three against the Blue Jays and is now on the 10-day injured list with a wrist injury. The team is 1-7 in the games Harper has missed. 3 Bryson Stott (left) and Trea Turner man the middle infield for the Phillies. Isaiah J. Downing-Imagn Images Second baseman Bryson Stott was asked after getting swept by the Pirates about whether hitters are pressing too much to make up for the loss of Harper. Advertisement 'A little bit. We saw it in '22 when he was down, it took a second to finally have everyone calm down and realize we've still got to play our game,' he said. 'He's Bryce Harper and you're not gonna try to step up to be Bryce Harper, you want to be yourself. Obviously, you want to hit like him. But a little bit of trying too hard or coming out of approaches.' Stott is slashing .239/.303/.338 this season and has struggled mightily with just five hits across the 1-9 stretch. 'The easy thing is to say it's a long season but we know we're better than how we've been playing and we need to start doing it,' Stott said.
