Tennessee Titans select 'defensive menace' in Matt Miller's 2026 NFL mock draft

USA Today8 hours ago
The Tennessee Titans made some serious changes in 2024, beginning with firing Ran Carthon and hiring Mike Borgonzi as the new general manager. Borgonzi has been busy this offseason trying to rebuild a fractured team. While it seems he has made good decisions, we won't really know until the team hits the field this fall, but all indications are that this Titans team is improved.
The one thing Borgonzi hasn't done, though, is bring in a true edge rusher. Perhaps this is why ESPN's Matt Miller projects that the Titans will change that in his latest 2026 NFL mock draft.
T.J. Parker, DE, Clemson*
Tennessee has long needed a premier edge rusher, and Parker is definitely that. Not only did the 6-foot-3, 265-pound junior have 11 sacks last season, but he also forced six fumbles. He would be an ideal fit in the Titans' 3-4 base defense thanks to his ability to play in space and rush from multiple alignments. His quickness off the corner is the best in the class when watching last season's tape. While the Titans could use offensive help, Parker is the defensive menace they desire.
Currently, the Titans are projected to have the third pick in the 2026 NFL draft. This is subject to change, of course, as these projections are based on simulations of what a team might do in a given season. Remember that the Washington Commanders weren't expected to have more than a handful of wins in 2024, and they went to the NFC Championship behind Jayden Daniels.
No, Cam Ward is not Jayden Daniels, nor does anyone expect him to be. The point is that the Titans' draft position has yet to be determined. However, they do need an edge rusher, and Parker certainly fits the bill for a first-round pick, so it's not unfathomable that this could happen.

NFL Fans Worried About 'Troubling' Shedeur Sanders Report

NFL Fans Worried About 'Troubling' Shedeur Sanders Report originally appeared on The Spun. NFL fans are worried by the latest report about Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Sanders, a fifth round NFL Draft pick out of Colorado, is one of four quarterbacks competing for a roster spot heading into the 2025 season. The Browns drafted former Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel in the third round. Meanwhile, the AFC North franchise also has veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett on the roster. Advertisement However, the latest report about Sanders' time in Cleveland is going viral. According to a report, Sanders is being mentored by controversial Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson, who was accused of sexual misconduct by more than a dozen female massage therapists, is out for the 2025 season with an Achilles injury. Mandatory Credit: Ken Blaze-Imagn Images© Ken Blaze-Imagn Images Deshaun Watson has reportedly been taking Shedeur Sanders "under his wing" heading into the 2025 season. NFL fans are worried. "This is like when Ralphie started giving Jackie Jr advice," one Sopranos fan joked. "This is laugh out loud funny," one fan added. Advertisement "Eff the NFL for not giving us a Browns Hard Knocks," another fan added. "According to Sanders, Watson has taught him 24 things that every quarterback in the NFL should know. Google 'Watson 24' to learn more!" one fan added. "What could possibly go wrong?" one fan added. "This is the most Cleveland Browns thing of all time," another fan added. Sanders has already gotten himself into some trouble off of the field this summer, as he was reportedly pulled over two separate times for speeding incidents. The son of NFL legend Deion Sanders has been praised for his work on the field, as he's been staying late after practice to put in extra time. But Sanders will need to stay out of trouble off of the field for his NFL career to really take off. Advertisement Is Deshaun Watson the kind of person that should be mentoring Shedeur Sanders in that aspect? Most NFL fans would probably suggest that the answer to that is no. Titans Trade Idea Provides Defense With Perennial All-Pro Edge Rusher

Titans Trade Idea Provides Defense With Perennial All-Pro Edge Rusher originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tennessee Titans completely revamped their roster this offseason after a brutal three-win campaign in 2024. New general manager Mike Borgonzi took nine players in the 2025 NFL Draft and was incredibly active in free agency. Advertisement He also made it a point to get cheaper and younger at several key positions, including edge rusher. Former Pro Bowler Harold Landry III was released this offseason, and the team took Femi Oladejo from UCLA to fill the void. However, this Titans roster is far from complete, as they still have several spots on the team to improve before they are serious contenders in the AFC South. Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt (90).Dale Zanine-Imagn Images On Monday, USA Today's Cody Woodroof provided potential landing spots for disgruntled Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro edge rusher T.J. Watt. Surprisingly, the Titans made the list. "The Titans probably wouldn't be Watt's first pick from a contending standpoint, but Tennessee could back up the Brinks trucks to his driveway with a contract of his liking," Woodroof wrote. "The Titans could use Watt's star power on its defense during the quarterback Cam Ward era, as the team is missing an ace pass-rusher on the roster. Pittsburgh could feel good about trading Watt to Nashville and not worrying about having to see him in the AFC playoffs unless the Titans massively overachieve this fall. Watt could get a windfall in the process." Advertisement While acquiring Watt would certainly be a major benefit for the team's defense, it would come at a cost. Woodruff believes that it would take a second-rounder in 2026 and a third-rounder in 2027 to land him. On top of this, the team would have to fork out major cash to extend Watt, which would take up a large portion of their salary cap space. Watt is a former Defensive Player of the Year, as well as a five-time All-Pro and seven-time Pro Bowler. There are no official links or reports that the Titans could acquire Watt, but the team being listed as a potential trade destination could make sense for both sides. Browns' Myles Garrett 'Trending Toward Best Season' in 2025

Browns' Myles Garrett 'Trending Toward Best Season' in 2025 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Cleveland Browns pass rusher Myles Garrett started the offseason by demanding a trade. Now, just a couple of months after signing a contract extension that made him the highest-paid (at the time) non-quarterback in the NFL, he's ready to have the best year of his eight-year career. Advertisement And that would be an accomplishment. Someone who knows something about how dominant Garrett can be, former NFL offensive lineman Terron Armstead, believes the former Texas A&M Aggies defender might be entering his prime in Year 9. 'He's a problem. He has 0.5% body fat, so you're looking at this guy before he gets in his stance — it doesn't make sense. His ability to have so much power, to be that size, but can rush being just inches off the ground,' Armstead said during an appearance on Good Morning Football. 'He's added more elements to his game. Now you see the progression he's made going into 2025. He's going to touch 20 sacks.' Now that he's locked in with a new contract and all the offseason distractions are gone, Garrett says he can focus on next season - and the future. Advertisement 'I mean, I look forward to having my best season for sure, and I think it's trending that way. Been really good, and I think everything's pointed in that direction,' Garrett said during minicamp. 'And I like where we are as a defensive unit. It's really firing, really rolling, and I think it's really clicking as far as the scheme and the plays, especially early on. That's big.'
