Titans Trade Idea Provides Defense With Perennial All-Pro Edge Rusher
The Tennessee Titans completely revamped their roster this offseason after a brutal three-win campaign in 2024. New general manager Mike Borgonzi took nine players in the 2025 NFL Draft and was incredibly active in free agency.

He also made it a point to get cheaper and younger at several key positions, including edge rusher. Former Pro Bowler Harold Landry III was released this offseason, and the team took Femi Oladejo from UCLA to fill the void.
However, this Titans roster is far from complete, as they still have several spots on the team to improve before they are serious contenders in the AFC South.

On Monday, USA Today's Cody Woodroof provided potential landing spots for disgruntled Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro edge rusher T.J. Watt. Surprisingly, the Titans made the list.
"The Titans probably wouldn't be Watt's first pick from a contending standpoint, but Tennessee could back up the Brinks trucks to his driveway with a contract of his liking," Woodroof wrote. "The Titans could use Watt's star power on its defense during the quarterback Cam Ward era, as the team is missing an ace pass-rusher on the roster. Pittsburgh could feel good about trading Watt to Nashville and not worrying about having to see him in the AFC playoffs unless the Titans massively overachieve this fall. Watt could get a windfall in the process."

While acquiring Watt would certainly be a major benefit for the team's defense, it would come at a cost. Woodruff believes that it would take a second-rounder in 2026 and a third-rounder in 2027 to land him.
On top of this, the team would have to fork out major cash to extend Watt, which would take up a large portion of their salary cap space. Watt is a former Defensive Player of the Year, as well as a five-time All-Pro and seven-time Pro Bowler.
There are no official links or reports that the Titans could acquire Watt, but the team being listed as a potential trade destination could make sense for both sides.

That is mostly due to the fact that he has sustained back-to-back season-ending injuries to that troublesome left knee ... and some people here inside The Star also think it's due to a previous lack of intensity when it came to his rehab. But ... He is a two-time Pro Bowler and was a First-Team All-Pro in 2021 ... at a time that was pre-injury and a time loaded with his record-setting ability to grab interceptions. As we have illustrated here, the Cowboys can "escape hatch'' their way out of his contract in a reasonably affordable way after the completion of the 2025 NFL season. Do it next offseason and they save about $12.5 million while they carry a dead cap hit of just under $6 million in 2026. Or, better yet, they could designate him a post-June 1 release, saving $15.5 million and then can spread the dead cap of $6 mil over the 2026 and 2027 seasons at a little under $3 mil per year. Trade? If Diggs' injuries keep him from returning to the field at some early stage this year (Trevon has targeted Week 1 for his comeback, unrealistic as that sounds), and if the rehab prevents him from returning to form in 2025 ... The possible play of rookie Shavon Revel (also rehabbing) is a factor, too. If he becomes a starting-caliber corner, Diggs' importance here shrinks. But that's for later. For now? The Jerry Jones-led offseason search for a replacement for Mike McCarthy was not a wide-net far-reaching one. 'A successful season as Eagles OC led Kellen Moore to a head coaching position, but he could be in for a nightmare season,' USA Today writes. 'His best quarterback had health concerns. Then, he retired. Rookie quarterback Tyler Shough will need to get up to speed quickly, or we could be in for another run by Spencer Rattler.' The Eagles should be great again. The Cowboys think they'll be good. Davante Adams compares Matthew Stafford to Aaron Rodgers in a very encouraging way
'Matthew has that type of stuff still in his arm. ... Matthew's still got it.' Davante Adams spent the majority of his career catching passes from Aaron Rodgers, a surefire first-ballot Hall of Famer. Adams was on the Green Bay Packers when Rodgers won three of his four MVP awards, including back-to-back in 2020 and 2021. Together, Adams and Rodgers were arguably the best quarterback-receiver tandem in the NFL, putting up eye-popping numbers together in their prime. Adams will now have the pleasure of playing alongside Matthew Stafford and though they've only been teammates for a couple of years, Adams sees similarities between Rodgers and Stafford. And we're not talking about the version of Rodgers who struggled at times last season. Adams told Ryan Clark at Fanatics Fest recently that Stafford has similar 'type of stuff in his arm' that Rodgers had when he was winning MVPs in 2020 and 2021. 'He told me something that really stood out,' Clark said on the Mina Kimes Show. 'He said, 'I got to play with an older Aaron.' He's like, 'Matthew has that type of stuff still in his arm.' And we're talking about the Aaron Rodgers that was able to come back and win two MVPs. He's like, 'Matthew's still got it.' He's like, 'That reminds me of that.'' Adams also added that Stafford plays with a ton of competitiveness without letting his ego get in the way. 'And he said he also has this level of competitiveness to him that you still see at practice without a-hole to it. And that really sparked my interest,' Clark added. Stafford and Rodgers are two of the oldest players still slinging it in the NFL and when healthy, both are playing at a high level. Neither is particularly mobile and elusive in the pocket anymore but they have incredibly strong arms and put zip on the ball effortlessly. When talking about arm talent, Rodgers and Stafford are both in the top tier – even at this point in their careers. Adams saw it with Rodgers and he's seeing it with the Rams quarterback now, too.
