MotoGP champion Martin to remain with Aprilia for 2026 season
Martin won his first MotoGP title last season with Pramac Racing before moving to Aprilia on a two-year contract, but in May the 27-year-old said he had exercised his right to release himself for the 2026 season.
Aprilia reacted to Martin's announcement by saying they were prepared to take the matter to court, but ahead of his long-awaited return to action in Saturday's Czech Grand Prix, the Spaniard put an end to the controversy.
"I'm really happy to be here again. It was a really difficult six or seven months suffering a lot with a lot of injuries but I'm happy to be here and to be back in MotoGP," Martin told reporters.
"Finally, I'm happy to say that I'll continue with Aprilia for 2026."
Martin has raced just once this season after a pre-season crash ruled him out of the first three rounds and a crash in his first race in Qatar led to a collapsed lung and bruised ribs.

The two teams meet in the second round qualifier and the winner of this tie will face another two hurdles before they can officially join Europe's elite in Uefa's flagship competition. Martin and Panathinaikos boss Rui Vitoria have both named their squads for the two legs, with the return game in Athens pencilled in for the following Wednesday on July 30. Rangers were given arguably the toughest draw when it took place last month. The other two teams also in the opposite side of the draw were SK Brann of Norway and Switzerland's Servette. Panathinaikos failed to qualify for the Europa League last season after they were knocked out by Ajax in the third qualifying round. They did, however, see past French side Rennes in the Conference League play-off, though, to guarantee European football for the season - before Fiorentina won 5-4 on aggregate to end their campaign in the round of 16. Rangers will have to hit the ground running with Martin's new system if they are to get the better of the Greek giants over two legs. And it could be a new-look lineup for the first game at Ibrox too, with as many as SEVEN summer signings registered for the competition.
