Indiana Fever President Deletes Account Hours Before Friday Night Game
While the Indiana Fever prepared for a Friday night game against the Atlanta Dream, team president Kelly Krauskopf reacted to rising pressure on the front office by deleting one of her social media accounts.

Krauskopf led the WNBA franchise from 2000 to 2018 before leaving to join the Indiana Pacers and become the first woman in NBA history to hold an executive basketball management role.
She returned to the Fever in September 2024 as part of a massive offseason overhaul that included hiring new head coach Stephanie White, general manager Amber Cox and significant roster turnover with the aim of rapidly building a contender around Caitlin Clark after her phenomenal rookie season.

On Friday, a video of Krauskopf gained traction on social media ahead of the game against the Dream. She said she wanted the Fever to become an enduring brand beyond Clark, naming Apple as an inspiration.

Even though it is part of Krauskopf's job as President of Basketball and Business Operations, many fans expressed their concerns about the Indiana president aiming for such lofty goals off the court while the team entered Friday's game with a sub-.500 record of 9-10 in the 2025 regular season.
In particular, the idea that the brand would continue to be a "leader in the country" in a future that is not guaranteed to include Clark beyond the end of her rookie contract in 2027 left social media users upset.
After receiving waves of backlash throughout the afternoon, Krauskopf deleted her X account.

During Krauskopf's first stint with the Fever, they made the postseason 13 times, played in three WNBA Finals in a seven-year span and won a championship in 2012.
She was also named the WNBA's first Director of Basketball Operations in 1996. In the groundbreaking role, she was responsible for helping to create rules, scheduling, and officiating policies ahead of the league's inaugural season.

49ers WR Jacob Cowing out again with same hamstring injury
49ers wide receiver Jacob Cowing did not practice Wednesday. Coach Kyle Shanahan said on KNBR that Cowing is dealing with the same lingering hamstring injury that sidelined him early in camp. "Yes, it is [the hamstring]," Shanahan said on the radio, via David Bonilla of "He felt it yesterday, so we had to hold him back today." Cowing initially injured his hamstring on the first day of training camp. He returned to the field Aug. 11 after three weeks rehabbing. A fourth-round pick in 2024, Cowing played 15 games last season as a rookie but saw only 106 offensive snaps and 64 on special teams. He caught four passes for 80 yards. The 49ers' wide receivers room has been hit hard with injuries. Brandon Aiyuk continues to work his way back from ACL/MCL surgery that ended his 2024 season; Jauan Jennings is dealing with a calf injury; and Jordan Watkins has a high-ankle sprain. In addition, Shanahan confirmed wide receiver Demarcus Robinson will miss the first three games of the season. The NFL suspended Robinson after his no contest plea to a misdemeanor DUI charge.

Jets trade for veteran nose tackle Harrison Phillips from Vikings, AP source says
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have agreed to terms on a trade for veteran nose tackle Harrison Phillips from the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday night to bolster their defensive line, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press. The Jets are sending sixth-round draft picks in 2026 and 2027 to the Vikings, who are trading a 2027 seventh-rounder along with Philips — pending the 29-year-old D-lineman's physical — according to the person who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the teams didn't announce the deal. ESPN and NFL Network first reported the trade, which came a few hours after New York made another addition to its defensive line when it acquired defensive tackle Jowon Briggs and a seventh-rounder next year from Cleveland for a sixth-rounder. The 29-year-old Phillips played the past three seasons for the Vikings after spending his first four with Buffalo. He was a third-round pick out of Stanford in 2018. Phillips has eight career sacks, five fumble recoveries and is regarded as a top run stuffer. ___ AP NFL:
