"A mixie is a modern hybrid of a pixie and a mullet – short and choppy in the front with longer, softer layers at the back," says Mark. While not essential, modern interpretations of both the mullet and pixie often include a fringe, sometimes styled as baby bangs or a straight-across fringe. This is also an option when it comes to the mixie.
"It's edgy but wearable, offering a bold silhouette with versatile styling options. The mixie blends retro charm with contemporary texture," Mark adds.
When it comes to suitability, Mark explains, "The mixie suits a range of face shapes. Its structure can be tailored to enhance cheekbones or soften jawlines." Good news (and snatched bone structures) for all!
Continuing, he says, "It works well on straight to wavy hair, and the layers add volume and movement, making it a great option for fine to medium hair textures. For curly hair, the shape can be customised to enhance natural texture."
According to Mark, styling the mixie is refreshingly simple – and we couldn't be more relieved. I mean, more time in bed? Hell yes. "Styling a mixie is all about enhancing its natural texture," he says. "Use a lightweight mousse or texturising spray to boost volume and define layers. Tousling with fingers or a diffuser helps maintain an effortless, lived-in finish. You can also smooth it with a round brush for a more polished look or add wax or pomade for definition."
As for upkeep, Mark notes that on a day-to-day basis, "The mixie is relatively low-maintenance," however, he adds, "it will benefit from regular trims every 6–8 weeks to keep its shape sharp." Pros and cons, hey.

Heidi Klum is 52, embracing her wrinkles, and still posing in lingerie, because she said she doesn't think aging is anything to be ashamed of. In an interview with People published on Monday, the supermodel spoke about marriage, motherhood, and what it's like to age in the spotlight. Klum told People that she is pushing back against the assumption that women in their 50s lose relevance because of their age. "The biggest misconception [about] being in your 50s is that you are off the shelf. You're not off the shelf," Klum said. "We are very much on that shelf for everyone to see. Don't hide in your 50s." The "Project Runway" host added that beauty evolves with time, and she's "here for the change." "If it's always the same, life is boring," she said. Klum, who has four kids with her ex-husband Seal, isn't afraid to show off her body either. "I've been photographing nude or in lingerie since 1992, way before Instagram," Klum said. "So for me, it's nothing new. For the past 15 years, other people are now doing what I've been doing for 30 years. Instead of being in my little bottoms in a magazine, I'm on Instagram. It's the same thing." It doesn't matter that she's older, she said: "I don't have this age-shaming or body-shaming thing. I feel like everyone should do what they want to do. I like to run around sexy — even now at 52." But it does help to see how perspectives on aging have shifted in recent years, she added. "Now it's OK to be older — but it didn't use to be like that," she says. "I feel like we're more welcoming of wrinkles and rolls on our body. Being accepted at every age is amazing. That we've changed and come all that way," Klum said. She said she isn't opposed to getting cosmetic enhancements like Botox. Still, she said she sees aging as something to look forward to. "Don't we all want to get old? I know we always say that, but it's the truth. I'm already looking at 60 and 70, hopefully 80 and 90. And if we're still kicking it then, let's celebrate," Klum said. My little senior Dachshund is very dainty in how she eats and carries herself in general. My Pug bounds about like a bull in a china shop, and has perfected a "happy dance" at dinner time. It's his own signature jig. Chester the Golden Retriever added a unique spin on going downstairs. Rather than just walking or running, the creative canine uses a little flair to get from one place to another. In the TikTok from @lucy_morrison18, Chester was at the top of the steps in his home about to head downstairs. One would expect him to take the steps one by one, but he has a different technique. Chester slid down the stairs, using his front paws as a guide and his back legs just went along for the ride. The playful pup made a sort of bark/groan/growl noise as he careened down the steps. "He likes to make an entrance every morning," the onscreen text explained. These don't look like ordinary straight steps — there were a few turns and corners that Chester had to navigate and he handled it like a pro. The gliding Golden slid right past his mom, who was on the steps with some laundry. The expression on her face revealed that this is a daily occurence with her seemed almost disappointed when he got to the bottom of the stairs, like the fun ended too soon. The frisky fur baby definitely makes his mark when he goes from one floor to another. "He's not your average guy," the caption read. The innovative pooch deserves props for his sense of whimsy and originality. I don't know of any dogs that intentionally slide down the stairs, though there are obviously some out there. My Pug was actually afraid of stairs when we adopted him as a rescue from Puerto Rico. He overcame his fear, but he's still a bit hesitant when it comes to taking that first step.
