Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Tau, Appollis, Mayambela, Makhubu
Kaizer Chiefs will kick off their preseason training in the next few weeks, hoping to sign several players.
This will be Nasreddine Nabi's second preseason with the Glamour Boys. The Soweto giants will spend their preseason in the Netherlands preparing for the 2025/26 campaign. Chiefs finished ninth last season in the Betway Premiership and will not be part of the MTN8 competition in August.
Amakhosi have been linked with a number of top players, including Feisal Salum, Wonderboy Makhubu, Fiston Mayele, Percy Tau and other top players.
This week, KickOff reported that Kaizer Chiefs have enquired about Sekhukhune United striker Wonderboy Makhubu. The striker was on loan at Magesi from Sekhukhune, but Babina Noko are expected to keep him next season.
'Kaizer Chiefs have made contact with the player's representatives,' a source told KickOff .
'Makhubu's contract with Sekhukhune United indeed expires in June. But the contract has an option. It's an open secret that Sekhukhune will exercise the option.
'If they do so, that means Kaizer Chiefs have to pay.'
Amakhosi have also been linked to Polokwane City star Oswin Appollis. The winger is likely to leave Rise and Shine next season, but it remains to be seen if he'll move to a PSL club or move abroad.
If all fails, Amakhosi can always sign Bafana Bafana winger Mihlai Mayambela. The 28-year-old has reportedly expressed his interest in joining Kaizer Chiefs. Another Bafana Bafana player linked to Amakhosi is Percy Tau. The 31-year-old is currently a free agent, having left Qatar.

Chippa United release 18 players
Chippa United have cleared the decks by releasing 15 players before the new season and three others will return to their clubs after their loan agreements ended. The Gqeberha club confirmed the clearance in a statement posted on their social media platforms on Tuesday. The statement said: 'Chippa United Football Club can confirm the departure of several players as their contracts with the club come to an end after the 2024/25 season,' it said. 'The following players will not be part of the team heading into the new campaign: Darren Johnson, Lukhanyo July, Justice Chabalala, Samkelo Jali, Andile Jali, Baraka Majogoro, Athenkosi Dlala, Ronald Sanou, Craig Martin, Ronald Maarman, Thobani Jacobs, Sifiso Mazibuko, Aviwe Mqokozo, Enock Sakala, Bienvenu Eva Nga.' The club also said that on-loan players Aphelele Teto, Siphelo Baloni and Sonwabile Khumalo would return to their parent clubs after the conclusion of their loan agreements. According to Transfermarkt, Chippa had 35 senior players for the 2024/2025 season, which leaves 17 players on their books. Last week, the Chilli Boys named Sinethemba Badela, 35, as their new head coach. The former Cape Town All Stars mentor replaces Thabo September, who opted not to renew his contract after he was demoted to assistant coach. Chippa also announced the appointment of Sinesipho Mali as the new sporting director, a position held by Morgan Mammila last season. Mali served in key technical roles at Kaizer Chiefs as an analyst and later at Sekhukhune United, where he operated as both analyst and head of recruitment, helping guide the club to its highest-ever points tally in the 2024/2025 Betway Premiership. He now serves as head of analysts for Bafana Bafana, a role he will continue in as the national team prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations and conclude their Fifa World Cup qualifying campaign. He also featured in Banyana Banyana's technical team at the 2023 Fifa Women's World Cup. The Herald

Ex-Pirates quartet headlines Chippa United mass exodus!
Former Orlando Pirates quartet of Andile Jali, Bienvenu Eva Nga, Craig Martin and Justice Chabalala have been released by Chippa United. The four players headline a list of 15 players axed by Chippa United ahead of the 2025-26 PSL season. For Jali, this doesn't come as a huge surprise given that rumours had already been there that he would be axed. The same can be said about Eva Nga whose agent was on record to say they had been in talks with the Chilli Boys over a possible renewal. This was when reports suggested that Eva Nga could be moving to Kaizer Chiefs as one of their newest strikers next season. Meanwhile, Siphelo Baloni will return to parent club Pirates as he was on a season-long loan deal. Also on the list of returnees are Aphelele Teto (Livingston of Scottland) and Sonwabile Khumalo (Orbit College). Now, newly-appointed coach Sinethemba Badela will have to go to the market to sign new players for the club. Chippa United release 15 players, including four former Orlando Pirates players. Rassie Erasmus: ‘Shackles-off' Baa Baas to test Boks
Rassie Erasmus says the Springboks' clash with the Barbarians in Cape Town will be an unpredictable and challenging start to the world champions' 2025 season. The invitational side, known for their free-flowing approach, arrive in the Republic for the first time to face the Boks at Cape Town Stadium on June 28. It's the ninth meeting between the teams, but the first on South African soil and the first since a 31-31 draw at Wembley in 2016. 'It's a difficult one to plan around… but we want to start on a good foot,' Erasmus said. 'I've coached the Barbarians, and a lot of these players have played for the Barbarians.' The Bok boss said the nature of the invitational team makes traditional match preparation challenging. 'It's a setup where it's shackles off and the pressure is almost on the Barbarians to play entertaining rugby, and not to worry about the consequences,' Erasmus added. BOK SQUAD: Who's in, who's out 'I remember when I coached them [against Argentina in 2018], they get together on a Sunday – a bunch of great names, talented guys – so there's not a lot of analysis we can do on them. 'So I guess we'll focus a lot on ourselves when we get to the game.' Erasmus views the match as a chance to ease Japan-based players such as Lood de Jager, Malcolm Marx, Jesse Kriel and Kurt-Lee Arendse back into the Test setup. 'It is maybe an opportunity for some of those guys who haven't played in a while, like those from Japan,' he added. Erasmus named a trimmed 45-man squad after releasing 11 players due to injury or club commitments. Edinburgh prop Boan Venter earned his first call-up to replace the injured Gerhard Steenekamp and Ntuthuko Mchunu. The Boks will face Italy in Pretoria and Gqeberha after the Baa Baas clash, in Pretoria and Gqeberha on July 5 and 12 respectively, and followed by a clash against Georgia in Nelspruit on July 19.
