Love Is Blind UK's Kieran is Mensa member who founded company worth millions at 19
Popular dating show Love Is Blind UK has returned for season 2, with a new group of contestants hoping to find love on the Netflix hit with a unique premise.
Celebrity couple Matt and Emma Willis have returned to host the series, which sees singles propose to one another before they have ever laid eyes on their future partner.
Instead, they speak in separate pods in the hope of connecting on a deeper level, before finally meeting their fiancés in person.
This year's line-up includes a professional musician, a cafe owner and even a member of the armed forces.
One cast member with a particularly interesting backstory, however, is Forbes Under 30 honorary Kieran Holmes-Darby.
Which gaming company did Kieran Holmes-Darby found?
At the age of 19, Kieran and his brother Joel Holmes-Darby co-founded UK esports company Excel back in 2014.
The entrepreneur, now 28, has previously discussed how they would spend hours gaming with each other remotely from their university dorm rooms at opposite ends of the country before deciding to set up their own esports team.
Excel became known for its strong teams across popular games like League of Legends and Fortnite, with its players competing internationally.
The team even starred in the BBC gaming documentary, Fight for First: Excel Esports, which aired in January 2021.
Kieran told South West Londoner at the time: 'It's so very exciting; it's a nice bit of recognition and I'm really happy.
'I have lots of people — from school, distant relatives, people from university — messaging me to say congratulations and it's really great.
'Gaming has always been a big part of our lives and we're quite competitive people by nature. It's been quite the journey from the dorm room to where we are now, but a really exciting one.'
Is Kieran Holmes-Darby a member of Mensa?
According to Netflix's Tudum, 'secret geek' Kieran is a member of Mensa and is no stranger to success.
At the age of just 25, Kieran was also made the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for putting UK esports on the map.
To qualify for membership of Mensa, you must demonstrate an IQ in the top two percent, either through taking our supervised test or submitting prior evidence.
What does Kieran Holmes-Darby do now?
In 2023, Excel merged with Spanish organisation Giants Gaming, creating the GIANTX brand, which continues to be a large presence in Esports.
Kieran left the organisation following the merger and has since become Manager of the League of Legends team Los Ratones, which is owned by former Excel player Marc Robert 'Caedrel' Lamont.
The entrepreneur also joined sports and gaming-focused creative agency Ear to the Ground as their Business Director.
What is Kieran Holmes-Darby's plan for Love Is Blind?
According to Netflix's Tudum, Kieran had been single for 18 months when they started filming Love Is Blind UK season 2.
Described by his friends and family as 'the golden boy', Kieran was previously in a relationship for seven years, but is now ready to find lasting love in the pods with his future wife.
Will Kieran find what he's looking for? We'll just have to wait and see.
Love Is Blind UK season 2, episodes 1-4 are now available to stream on Netflix.

Amanda Holden suffers blow as controversial Netflix show axed despite success
Despite a very successful first season, Amanda Holden's Netflix show has landed on the scrap heap. In April, Cheat: Unfinished Business arrived on the streaming platform, with Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda, 54, and Celebs Go Dating expert Paul Brunson, 50, as hosts. The format raised eyebrows before the first episode had even landed, as many were sceptical upon learning participants would be reunited with their cheating exes. Filmed in Majorca, Spain, eight former couples, who broke up because one was unfaithful, visited a luxury retreat to see if it was possible to work through their differences. Cheat proved extremely popular with streamers, finding itself in Netflix's top 10 most-watched shows in 22 countries, including the UK and the US. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Alas, it seems those stats weren't enough to convince commissioners that a second season was viable. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video A source told The Sun that the reality series won't be back, explaining: 'Despite Cheat being popular with audiences, Netflix has decided to pursue new show formats.' A Netflix spokesperson also confirmed: 'Cheat: Unfinished Business won't be returning.' However, this might not be the last we see of Amanda on the service. 'Bosses love Amanda and are in talks with her on three different show ideas, so it's likely fans will see a lot more of her on the platform in the future,' added the insider. 'Amanda is still very much one of the hardest-working women in showbiz and is booked and busy for the foreseeable future.' Indeed, there's no shortage of work for the TV personality, who co-hosts Heart FM's breakfast show each weekday morning, alongside Jamie Theakston. Listening figures for the show have soared in recent months, seeing Heart overtake BBC Radio 2 to become the biggest commercial breakfast show in the UK with 4.2million weekly listeners. On top of that, Amanda is due back for BGT auditions filming in October, as well as a fourth series of her renovation show with comedian Alan Carr, having been shooting in Greece this summer. And as if all of that isn't enough, Amanda's quiz show, The Inner Circle, launches on BBC One in October, with a cash prize on the line for players to take home after testing their general knowledge and strategic thinking. Relationships expert Paul has also seen a spike in popularity this year, thanks to his We Need To Talk podcast, which has featured celebrity guests such as Tulisa, Maura Higgins, Katie Price, and Cher Lloyd. Before Cheat launched this spring, the Washington-born star expressed his excitement to be working alongside Amanda so they could dive into 'all the grey areas of infidelity' together. 'To work with Amanda Holden has been a dream of mine, so with her on board, there was no way I could say no,' he praised. Amanda was also 100% in, having hailed Cheat as her 'dream' job, most likely making its cancellation all the more gutting. More Trending She told the Daily Mail: 'It is my dream job; if I could have manifested a job… this would have been it. It is the job I have wanted my whole life, and it's finally happening. 'A series about second chances and unfinished business. I can't wait, along with Paul, to meet and help these couples work out whether they can forgive and forget. I'm absolutely thrilled to be part of it.' Season 1 of Cheat: Unfinished Business is available to stream on Netflix. Got a story? Katie Price slapped with new legal row as exes Kieran Hayler and Alex Reid team up
EXCLUSIVE: Former glamour model Katie Price has found herself at the centre of another legal row as her ex-husbands unite to block a new tell-all documentary from airing Katie Price is at the centre of a new legal row with her ex-husbands over a planned tell-all documentary. The show, due to air next year, is set to spill the beans on her relationships, according to TV insiders. Kieran Hayler, 38, and Alex Reid, 50, are consulting lawyers to try to block the film from featuring them. The pair are in contact via an intermediary as both are said to be aghast at the prospect of Katie talking. A source said: 'They feel like they have been backed into a corner and have no choice. They just want her to stop trashing them, and can't believe she is being given a platform.' It comes after Katie was left unable to complete basic functions after latest facial surgeries. Lawyers for Katie's first husband, Peter Andre, were already on 'red alert' even before news of the planned documentary surfaced last week. It comes as Peter, 52, released a statement blasting his ex-wife's 'lies'. Asked about the show, an insider close to the Australian singer said: 'His lawyers will be keeping a close eye on all things moving forward in terms of what Kate says or does.' The three-part series is reportedly being made by Louis Theroux's production company Mindhouse and put out by Sky. A strongly worded legal letter is being prepared on behalf of Kieran and Alex, urging the broadcaster to reconsider airing it. A spokesman for Kieran said: 'We are keeping all our options open. I can confirm Alex Reid is on the same page.' A TV insider claimed this week that the autobiographical show would 'likely spill the beans on [Katie's] many flings and love affairs' and would be the 'most authentic version of her story'. But a source close to Kieran said: 'Enough is enough. They want to move on with their lives, and they can't trust anything that comes out her mouth.' Katie and Kieran were married from 2013 to 2021. They had two kids, Jett, now 12, and Bunny, 11. Former cage fighter Alex wed the ex-glamour model in Las Vegas in February 2010. They separated in January 2011. Alex sued his ex for breach of confidence, misuse of private information and breach of contract after she disclosed to pals videos and photos of him performing a sex act. High Court judge Mr Justice Warby branded Katie's behaviour 'persistent, flagrant, arrogant, high-handed and inexcusable'. She was told to pay £25,000 in damages and £150,000 in costs. Reality TV star Alex said it had an impact on his career, adding: 'She was saying the most disgusting things about me... It was affecting me working continually because people were laughing at me.' Katie was married to Peter from 2005 to 2009, and they have Junior, 20, and Princess, 18. She has been in the spotlight recently around the launch of her eldest daughter's ITV show, The Princess Diaries. Her claim last week that Princess lives with her seemed to enrage Peter. Accusing his ex of repeated lies, he said: 'Junior and Princess came into my care in 2018 and remained with me until... adulthood. In 2019, the family courts issued a legally binding order to enforce this arrangement.' He also reminded fans of court cases in 2011 and 2015, saying they showed Katie had made false claims. Yesterday a source said: 'Pete felt he had to do this for the sake of not only him, but his wife [Emily], Princess and Junior. He has received so many messages of support from people who are glad he has called such behaviour out.' In response, mum-of-five Katie – who also has son Harvey, 23, with football coach Dwight Yorke – said: 'I know I will always be seen as a sinner. That's fair. I allowed myself to fall into a reliance on drugs and alcohol. At times I was not the mother I should have been while I struggled with mental illness. 'I have been at times a poor friend, an awful sibling, and an untrustworthy partner. I've self-medicated, been unfaithful, damaged myself and those that I love.' Princess, meanwhile, says Katie and Peter's feud does not trouble her, as she loves them both. When a fan asked if she was affected by her parents not getting on, she replied: 'To be honest it doesn't. At the end of the day, they broke up when I was two years old so I don't even have any memory of them being together.' She added: 'I love my mum and dad and that's all that matters.' Katie has claimed she was banned from Princess's 18th birthday party filmed for her show and that her daughter's management team thought she was trash. A source said Katie was not banned but had missed the party due to being abroad. Sky did not respond to a request for comment.
