Minister, three nominated legislators to be sworn-in on Monday

The Hindu12-07-2025
The swearing-in ceremony of the newly-appointed Minister and three nominated legislators of the Puducherry Assembly will be held on Monday.
While Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan will administer the oath to the newly-appointed BJP Minister, A. John Kumar at the Raj Nivas, the nominated legislators, V. Selvam, E. Theeppainthan and G.N.S Rajasekaran, will be sworn-in by Speaker R. Selvam in his chamber at the Legislative Assembly complex.
The Ministry of Home Affairs had cleared the name of Mr. Kumar, and three nominated legislators belonging to the BJP on Friday, after the BJP leadership initiated a reshuffle of its Minister in the Cabinet and the legislature wing.
Two weeks ago, on the directions of the party highcommand, A. K. Sai J. Saravanan Kumar, the lone Dalit representative in the Cabinet headed by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy had resigned. Similarly, V. P. Ramalingam, K. Venkatesan and R. B. Ashok Babu were also forced to resign to effect the changes.
The latest is the second reshuffle in Mr. Rangasamy's Cabinet after the AINRC-BJP combine came to power in 2021. Two years ago, S. Chandira Priyanga, representing the reserved Nedungadu Assembly segment in Karaikal region, resigned from the Cabinet after the Chief Minister felt her performance in the Ministry was not satisfactory. She was replaced with P. R. N. Thirumurgan, representing the general constituency of Karaikal North.

'Nazi' BJP Targeting 'Bengalis': TMC MP Mahua Moitra's Explosive Interview On Gurugram Crackdown

/ Jul 27, 2025, 10:47PM IST In an exclusive interview with TOI Bharat, TMC MP Mohua Moitra tore apart BJP for allegedly picking up Bengali migrant workers in states where the party rules under the garb of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. In a freewheeling chat with Aditi Prasad on the recent crackdown on Bangladeshi immigrants in Gurugram, Mahua Moitra alleges that due process have not been followed while detaining Bengali-speaking migrants despite showing identity proofs. Moitra says legal migrants are being picked up on the basis of language, hinting at a sinister ploy to persecute people from Bengal. She has also issued warning that the issue will blow up in the face of BJP which aims to wrest power from Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal in the 2026 assembly elections.#mahuamoitra #mahuamoitrainterview #mahuamoitraspeech #tmc #bjp #pmmodi #narendramodi #amitshah #mamatabanerjee #bengal #bengali #gurugrambengali #gurugrambangladeshi #bengalimigrants #bengaliimmigrants #bangladeshi #bangladeshiimmigrants #illegalimmigrants #rohingyas #bsf #murshidabadviolence #bengalelections #bengalassemblypolls #toi #toibharat #bharat #trending #breakingnews #indianews

Minister slams Rahul-Ambedkar comparison

Patna: BJP functionary and minister Janak Ram on Sunday lashed out at Congress's Udit Raj for likening Rahul Gandhi to Dr B R Ambedkar, describing the comparison as "an insult" and demanding an apology. "Rahul has been a failed leader in the true sense," Janak Ram said. "In Indian politics, he is remembered as a failed leader. Congress never respected Babasaheb and comparing him with anyone is an insult to Ambedkar." The controversy erupted after Udit Raj posted on X on Saturday, "OBCs will have to think that history does not give opportunities for progress again and again. They should follow and support what Rahul Gandhi said at the Talkatora Stadium conference. If they do so, then Rahul Gandhi will prove to be the second Ambedkar for them." Responding strongly, Janak Ram accused the Congress of exploiting marginalised communities. "Despite being in power for over six decades, Congress treated the Dalit and OBC communities merely as a vote bank. It never worked honestly for their welfare," he said. "In fact, Congress betrayed these communities, and the public will never forgive them. This is the same Congress which delayed conferring the Bharat Ratna on Ambedkar but wasted no time in securing the country's highest civilian award for its own family," the BJP minister added.
