Sue Cleaver, a stalwart of the ITV soap Coronation Street, where she has brought Eileen Grimshaw to life for over two decades, is set to hang up her Weatherfield coat.
Recalling her journey on the show during a chat on Off Script podcast, Sue dished out some laughter-filled tales from behind the scenes, which contrast with some of the darker storylines she's been part of, like the tragic plotline involving Eileen's sister Julie Carp's death, portrayed by Katy Cavanagh.
Despite the grim narratives, she admitted that there were times when she couldn't contain her giggles during wholly "inappropriate" situations.
Among the memories, she regaled listeners with a particularly hilarious instance involving co-star Katy Cavanagh, saying: "I laughed with Katy Cavanagh when she was dead on the floor, bless her heart."
The guffaw was triggered when one of Sue's tears took an accidental detour into Katy's nose -- a welcome intrusion of hilarity in the sorrowful scene, reports Leicestershire Live.
Express-counted among the causes of on-set merriment is Sue's fellow actor Simon Gregson, famous as Steve McDonald. She mentioned how he is "impossible" to act alongside without breaking down into fits of laughter since they both struggle to maintain composure.
Behind the familiar desk at Street Cars taxi service, lies a prop diary that fans would believe is filled with cab bookings and schedules. But Sue revealed it actually hosts a collection of rather risqué jokes instead of mundane dispatch notes.
Sue disclosed to her fans: "We have a diary where we can be seen writing little notes. Really what is in that book is the most disgusting photographs of 'Sue by Simon, aged 4.'".
Not one to miss out on the fun, Sue recounted with a chuckle how she had gotten back at Simon with an equally playful jest, only for their diary to one day "mysteriously" vanish, seemingly to prevent any possible embarrassment if it were ever found.
Opening up about her upcoming departure from the show, Sue gave a heartfelt and candid reflection on her final moments that viewers are set to witness in the upcoming weeks.
"I can't give anything away, but it's absolutely fabulous. They really did me proud," she shared, while keeping the details a mystery.
With evident emotion, Sue continued: "When I read it and saw it, I was really emotional. It's the perfect ending. It is everything that I wanted. They asked me what I would like, and I decided a year ago that I was gonna go."
She further spilled the beans on Ryan Thomas making a return as her on-screen son Jason for her leaving episodes.
Expressing her thoughts on this, she said: "I called Ryan Thomas and said, 'Ryan, I've not told work yet, but I'm gonna leave. Would you come back?
Ryan's response?
'I wasn't planning to, but I can't refuse that, can I?' For Sue, having Ryan present was the perfect send-off.

The 1% Club player makes embarrassing blunder on question that had 11 people stumped – could you guess right?

This 70% question eliminated 11 people altogether in the ITV game show. 5 Could you answer this question on The 1% Club? Credit: ITV 5 Lee Mack was shocked by one player's logic Credit: ITV 5 She went on to explain the reasoning behind her choice Credit: ITV Lee Mack had asked the remaining contestants: "Based on the results shown here, which of these sports teams is the best?" The screen showed various final game scores for a selection of fictional teams. Available options included A) Breezers, B) All Stars, C) Flames or D) Gems. Once the 30 second time limit was up, it was revealed 11 people had chosen the wrong team. The correct answer was Breezers, who had successfully won all of their games. Lee then proceeded to turn his attention to eliminated player Zainab. Having asked what she answered, the contestant replied: "I put All Stars. "I didn't even look at the numbers. I just thought, 'Oh, All Stars. They just seem like the best name.'" Lee responded: "Whoa, you didn't just go with what you thought was the best name?" As she nodded to confirm, Lee asked: "What did you think all the numbers were for?" The 1% Club player brands herself 'thick' as she gets easy picture question wrong - but would you have made the same mistake? Zainab explained: "I don't know - I don't watch football or anything like that." To which Lee remarked: "They're not real teams! And it's not even football, it says sport." In another episode, a contestant branded herself "thick" after getting an easy picture question wrong. The players had been asked: "Which of these Vincent van Gogh self-portraits has been altered?" Players had just 30 seconds to examine three photos of the famous painter and pick out the correct answer. The answer turned out to be C - as this featured the legendary Dutch artist wearing earbuds, which weren't invented for another 100-years after his death in 1890. The faked image also played on the fact Van Gogh infamously also cut off one of his ears during a furious row with artist Paul Gaugin. After revealing four people got it wrong, Lee turned his attention to one of these players - Margaret. "Thick as two short planks", Margaret quipped after the spotlight was put on her. The contestant revealed she'd initially chosen C as her answer - only to change her mind. When asked by Lee for her reasons behind changing, Margaret replied: "God alone knows, I don't." Real reason for Christine McGuinness's toxic fall out with Chelcee Grimes revealed after star grew close to Dan Osborne

IN the scorching heat of a sizzling Ibizan summer back in 2023, Christine McGuinness and Chelcee Grimes couldn't have been closer as they locked lips during a girly holiday with pals. But in a shocking turn of events, just weeks later, the former bosom buddies were barely speaking, each pressing the dreaded 'unfollow' on Instagram and disappearing from each other's lives at the click of a button. What's baffling is that the reason for the sudden end to the close pal's friendship has never been revealed - until now. 12 Those with intimate knowledge of the pair's short-lived but deep bond- which has found itself back in the spotlight this week after Christine revealed in a new podcast interview that she has always 'dated men and women' - tell The Sun that the pair stopped speaking after an explosive argument over the nature of their relationship. A source said: 'Christine and Chelcee had a blazing row after a discussion about where they stood with each other. The fallout took place in late 2023, a year after they first grew close while filming ITV's The Games, a time when Christine turned to Chelcee for support after splitting from husband Paddy a few months earlier. 'TOO INTENSE' 'Chelcee had been a rock for Christine after her split from Paddy and they were incredibly close. But while Chelcee was a bit more full on, Christine wanted them just to have fun and thought it was becoming too intense. ' Christine had a lot on her plate with her children and her career. They ended up having an argument and in the heat of the moment unfollowed each other on social media.' Of course, as The Sun revealed yesterday, around the same time that Christine was spending time with Chelcee, she was also seeking comfort in a growing friendship with former Towie star Dan Osborne. The pair enjoyed a series of nights out on the town in March 2023 and bonded over the end of her marriage to Paddy, while Dan was trying to make things work with his wife Jacqueline Jossa after a rocky patch. While we understand nothing romantic ever happened between them, it's understood they shared a 'flirty' texts where Christine would call him 'D'. It's unclear whether Chelcee was aware of Christine's friendship with Dan, but there is no suggestion it contributed to their fallout. Nevertheless, radio silence followed between Christine and Chelcee after the spat - a s tark contrast to their kisses in the Balearic Isles, or the scene seven months prior in December 2022, when they were snapped kissing on the lips at Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. Christine McGuinness is dating women and men and will fly to Ibiza for hot same sex date TIME APART The source adds: 'They both needed a bit of time out to get their heads straight. It's always sad when you're close with someone and then heated words are exchanged, and they were both upset.' After a cooling off period, pals say the pair made tentative steps towards repairing things, but ultimately their friendship never recovered. 'After taking some time apart they tried to work through it and get their friendship back on track. Christine meant the world to Chelcee,' a pal tells us. 'Unfortunately, things just felt different after their fallout. Christine was still going through the stress of a divorce, while living under the same roof as Paddy, so she was still in a different place to Chelcee, even after their time apart.' Since relations soured with Chelcee, Christine grew very close with another female friend, DJ Roxxxan. They enjoyed a sunsoaked holiday together in the summer of 2024, even sharing cheeky snaps of them 'playing footsie' on social media. 12 12 12 THE FEUD ESCALATES While the rumour mill went into overdrive, the nature of their relationship was unclear - although reports claimed they were sharing a room during their getaway. Chelcee, for one, didn't seem impressed by Christine's new gal pal. That same summer while the blonde was enjoying her care-free break with the striking musician, Chelcee liked a comment from a fan on Instagram, which read: 'Christine is fake as they come, Chelcee deserved so much better. "Christine can keep trying to get attention and fake a new romance." While this was the final nail in the coffin for any chance of Christine and Chelcee repairing things appeared too busy enjoying herself with her new friend to care. And while neither Christine nor Roxxxan addressed speculation that they were romantically involved, Christine confirmed in an interview on Loose Women after the holiday that she was dating. CHRISTINE'S CONFESSION With a beaming smile on her face, she told panellist Coleen Nolan: "I am dating with terms and conditions that I am not cooking, that's the number one rule, I'm not doing the cooking it's not for me." Things also appeared to have cooled between Christine and Roxxxan in recent months however. They haven't been seen in public together since late 2024, and although they haven't unfollowed each other on social media, they haven't posted any snaps on holidays or nights out. Fast forward to today, and sources close to Christine tell us she isn't romantically involved with anyone right now - at least not seriously. Christine feels like a weight has been lifted off her shoulders A pal tells The Sun 'She's actually free and single and she is happy that way at the moment,' a friend of the blonde mum-of-three tells us. And while Christine recently caused a headache for Channel 4 bosses when she pulled out of filming for Celebs Go Dating last month after deciding she wasn't ready to date on camera, we're told she's in the best place she has been for years after deciding to open up about her sexuality on Elizabeth Day's How To Fail podcast. 12 12 FINALLY FREE 'Christine feels like a weight has been lifted off her shoulders since she did that interview,' a pal reveals. 'The chat was always scheduled to promote her joining Celebs Go Dating, but when she pulled out of the show, she decided to go ahead with the podcast appearance anyway. 'Her sexuality has been whispered about for years and she was fed up of it. She wanted to talk about it on her terms in a space where she felt safe. Now she has, she feels liberated and more confident than ever.' In the hour-long chat, Christine told presenter and broadcaster Elizabeth that she has dated both men and women since her teens, and revealed husband Paddy always knew she also liked girls. Who is Chelcee Grimes? She said: 'It shouldn't matter somebody's gender. It never mattered to me, which was why once me and my ex-husband were separated and I met people, I didn't properly date. 'It was more like blurred the lines of friendships for me, that was normal. It felt comfortable because I'd done that as a teenager and I, as a teenager, I dated both men and women. My ex-husband knew. My family knew. It was never a secret for me.'' BYE BYE BOYS Although Christine refuses to put a label on her sexuality, instead preferring to call herself a 'free spirit', sources claim she has privately told pals that she can't ever see herself dating a man again. 'She didn't say this publicly on the podcast, but Christine has made no secret to her nearest and dearest that she believes she will only date women in the future. 'She's only ever had one serious relationship with a man, and that was the man she married, Paddy, but she prefers dating women because she feels more of an emotional connection with them. 'She still finds men physically attractive, but for her it goes deeper with a woman, almost on a spiritual level. 'Obviously, things can always change and you never know who will come into your life, but her friends have said they would be very surprised if Christine ever settled down with a bloke again.'

Despite caring for April and becoming good friends, her dad Marlon Dingle, was not a fan on Dylan and resorted to planting drugs on Dylan in a desperate bid to force him out of April's life. But his plan backfired dramatically when Dylan ended up overdosing and left to attend rehab. Emmerdale producers revealed earlier this month that Dylan would be returning to the village, but Amelia, who plays April on the soap gave a hint when exactly fans can expect to see him again. "April has had an incredibly tough year with what she has been through, with the pregnancy and the homelessness storyline," she told Mirror Online. "April and Dylan didn't leave things on the best terms, but I think what is important now is that he's back." Amelia added: "Who knows what will happen. It will be great to explore that relationship further, I think fans want to see that which is great." It's been a big week for Amelia who took out the gong for Best Young Performer at Thursday's British Soap Awards. She managed to win the prize ahead of her brother William Flanagan, who was nominated for playing Joseph Brown on Coronation Street. Emmerdale boss Laura Shaw confirmed Dylan's return earlier this month. Emmerdale's Marlon visits Dylan in hospital after he takes an overdose "Lovely Fred Kettle, who plays Dylan, is coming back to the show," she told media. "He's going to be bringing his past back to the village with him. And that's going to cause huge problems for April and the wider family there." Laura added: "We've got a couple of exciting new castings that are joining us for that story, but I'm not allowed to tell you who they are. Watch this space, because it's very exciting." 5 Amelia Flanagan confirmed the news at the British Soap awards Credit: Getty
