Haiden Deegan and Julien Beaumer exchange words after Seattle race

NBC Sports30-03-2025
Haiden Deegan and Julien Beaumer had a heated exchange after the Monster Energy Supercross 250 West divisional race, which led to a battle of words on from the podium stage.
At the center of the controversy were actions following Deegan's March 21, 2025, Walton County arrest for stunt driving and street racing.
Deegan fell early while riding second to his teammate Cole Davies, who won the race. Deegan fell as far back as eighth and climbed through the field before catching Beaumer in a contest for third on Lap 18. Deegan rode Beaumer wide, turning into his competitor, before taking the position. Beaumer kept his bike upright and finished fourth.
The two riders parked next to one another following the main event. At one point, Deegan slapped Beaumer's helmet.
'Everyone knows what happened to me these last two weeks,' Deegan said after finishing third, referencing his arrest. 'He, JuJu went out of his own hands to post on his story that had my address and stuff. And now you're talking about my family, putting my family in danger and that's a whole 'nother scene so I told him not to do that. It ain't cool. He obviously lit back but we'll just see what happens from here on out.'
Walton County's booking information included Deegan's address.
Following his arrest, Deegan posted a screenshot on an Instagram story of his booking information, which had his address erased. Beaumer posted the unaltered version in an Instagram story, both of which disappeared in 24 hours.
'For that situation, no worries,' Beaumer said after finishing fourth. 'I ain't the only one who posted his address. So he can talk all he wants, but that's public record. I'm not worried about it; he has one coming.'
After a run-in with Haiden Deegan in the 250 main event at Seattle, Julien Beaumer asserts that "he has one coming" when they meet again in Philadelphia.

Latrell Mitchell cops massive new blow at hands of South Sydney teammate

Latrell Mitchell has an almighty fight on his hands to reclaim the fullback jersey for South Sydney, after a staggering performance from Jye Gray on Saturday night. Gray was best on-field as the Rabbitohs beat the Eels 20-16, taking them out of wooden spoon calculations. Gray had 27 runs for a whopping 221 metres, making six tackle-breaks, a line-break and a try assist. But it was his work on the defensive side of the ball that was most noteworthy. The Rabbitohs posted footage on Sunday of Gray's incredible field coverage on three-consecutive plays to deny Parramatta a try. Early in the second half, the diminutive fullback cut down the speedy Isaiah Iongi with a try-saving tackle when his opposite number looked destined to score. But not content with the brilliant tackle, Gray then raced across field and held Dylan Walker up close to the line on the very next play. Mitchell Moses then put in a grubber from 5m out on the next play, and once again it was Gray who was there to clean it up. "He is everywhere. I can't believe it," Steve Roach said in commentary for Fox League. "There must be two of him out there." But Gray wasn't finished. With two minutes remaining and the Eels trying to score the match-winning try, Iongi once again burst through the line and looked certain to score. But once again it was Gray who was there to cut him down with a stunning legs tackle, with the help of Tallis Duncan. View this post on Instagram A post shared by South Sydney Rabbitohs (@ssfcrabbitohs) Latrell Mitchell could be forced to switch permanently NRL fans were in awe of Gray's performance, with many saying it shows he should be the Rabbitohs' permanent fullback. Wayne Bennett usually prefers Mitchell in the No.1 jersey, but Gray was received plenty of playing time in 2025 due to injuries for Latrell. Mitchell made his return from a quad injury in the centres last week, before a pinched nerve in his back ruled him out of the Eels game. Bennett will be hard-pressed taking the fullback role off Gray even when Mitchell is back to full fitness. RELATED: Family first as Cameron Smith makes major career decision Brutal call made on Cherry-Evans before 350th game in NRL Leading commentator Andrew Voss wrote on social media on Sunday: "Not expecting Jye Gray to receive one of the existing awards at the Dally M's this year, but can we come up with one? Wouldn't be too many more admired players for 100% effort in the NRL." Voss pointed out that Gray will be a prime target for the new Perth Bears side once they enter the competition in 2027. If the Rabbitohs want to hold onto him, they might need to ask Mitchell to make a permanent switch to centre - where he's shined for NSW and Australia. Tellingly, a poll of over 50,000 Yahoo readers show the overwhelming majority believe Mitchell should be playing centre for Souths. The Rabbitohs have now won six out of 13 games this year when Gray starts at fullback, compared to two out of seven with Mitchell in the No.1 jumper. 'I just think Jye Gray, in that particular side, is the energiser bunny. I think he is a first-grader and his only position is fullback," Voss said on SEN radio. Social media is awash with calls from Rabbitohs fans for Mitchell to be shifted to centre permanently. Fans were blown away by Gray's display on Saturday night, and many believe Bennett has to keep him at fullback long-term. Jye just continues to amaze week in week out. Latrell centre. — yoelmonaro (@yoelmonaro) August 16, 2025 South's fans, Latrell needs to find another position. Jye Gray is your fullback. Outstanding game from him tonight! — Duane Dowell (@DuaneDowell) August 16, 2025 You cannot move Jye Gray from fullback. Such an energiser bunny, and the threat Latrell can create at left centre is too good to refuse #NRLSouthsEels — Jay Keegan (@JayMK1994) August 16, 2025 Man jye gray is good. To think there was a time he was dropped so they could play Latrell there. — Emily (@Emilyrenee_13) August 16, 2025

Vikings' male cheerleaders fire back at critics amid social media frenzy

The Minnesota Vikings came under fire on social media ahead of the start of the preseason schedule because the team had two male cheerleaders on its squad. Blaize Shiek and Louie Conn have fired back at critics in social media posts. "Wait…did someone say our name?" Shiek wrote in a post on Instagram with Conn ahead of the Vikings' preseason game against the New England Patriots. Pictures of Shiek in a Vikings cheerleading uniform sparked a frenzy and a debate about male cheerleaders in the NFL. The Los Angeles Rams were the first organization to have male cheerleaders, which occurred in 2018. The Baltimore Ravens also featured several men on their cheerleading squad. The Carolina Panthers had the first transgender cheerleader on its squad until this year. The Vikings put out a statement in defense of Shiek and Conn. "Male cheerleaders have been part of previous Vikings teams and have long been associated with collegiate and professional cheerleading," the team told NBC News. "We support all our cheerleaders and are proud of the role they play as ambassadors of the organization." It is Sheik's first year as a Vikings cheerleader. He shared a post back in May, celebrating his rookie season. "Excited and honored to share that I am officially a 2025-26 Minnesota Vikings Cheerleader!" he wrote on social media. "I am so grateful for this journey, the support, and the opportunity to make a little history along the way. I hope to represent and inspire what's possible when you stay true to who you are." Conn was a part of the Iowa State Cyclones dance team before he joined the Vikings this season.

Aaron Pico vows revival after UFC 319 KO loss: 'Last night wasn't my night'

It's safe to say Aaron Pico's UFC debut didn't go as planned. But then again, his MMA debut didn't work out that well, either, and he managed to quickly turn things around. That, no doubt, is what the 28-year-old wrestling standout will be looking to do after he was knocked out cold in his first fight in the promotion in Saturday's UFC 319 co-main event at United Center in Chicago. Pico (13-5 MMA, 0-1 UFC) took the fight against featherweight replacement opponent Lerone Murphy (17-0-1 MMA, 9-0-1 UFC), who stepped in for Movsar Evloev on just about three weeks' notice. He had won nine of his past 10 Bellator fights before that promotion was shuttered by the PFL, and the one loss was from an injury. He came to the UFC as a highly touted Bellator free agent, like several others before him, and Murphy ended his night with a spinning back elbow that likely will be a contender for Knockout of the Year. Pico on Sunday posted on social media that his health was OK and vowed the experience of the loss will make him a better fighter. "Last night wasn't my night, that's the fight game," Pico posted on Instagram. "I'm grateful for my team, my family, and everyone who continues to support me. The supporters that have been there from day one and my new supporters, I see you! Thank you. Wins and losses both teach lessons and I'll come back sharper, stronger, and better prepared. Thank you all who have sent messages and checked in, my health is well. Thanks for riding with me. My story is not over." Pico went 13-4 under the Bellator banner, including one fight under PFL branding. He has 11 of his 13 wins by stoppage, including nine knockouts. He came into his UFC debut with back-to-back first-round knockouts of Pedro Carvalho and Henry Corrales, but it had been 18 months since his win over Corrales – his most recent appearance. In his MMA debut in 2017, he was submitted in just 24 seconds by Zach Freeman at Bellator NYC in Madison Square Garden. It was a major upset after a big build-up for Pico as Bellator's first "blue-chip prospect" that the company and then-owner Viacom planned to build into a superstar. Pico went pro in MMA without a collegiate wrestling career. After he finished high school as the country's top wrestler, he essentially turned pro by signing endorsement deals that included with top-shelf company Nike. He endured the turbulence of a major upset loss in his high-profile MMA debut, and a 4-3 start as a pro. And now, according to his post, he'll have to learn some new lessons in the current speed bump.
