It's been eight years since the last Pirates of the Caribbean film, but Orlando Bloom remains optimistic about the franchise's future. According to Collider, Bloom addressed the possibility of reprising his role as Will Turner during an appearance on ITV's This Morning while promoting his new project, Deep Cover. The Lord of the Rings actor shared his hopes—not just for his own return, but for a reunion of the entire original cast.Orlando Bloom has reignited buzz about a possible Pirates of the Caribbean 6 , sparking excitement among fans of Disney's beloved swashbuckling saga, reports My Big Plunge. The actor—widely recognized for his roles in The Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean—hinted at a reunion, saying, 'I personally think it would be great to get the band back together.'Although he stopped short of confirming anything, Bloom's comments have stirred online speculation about the franchise's future. The series hasn't seen a new installment since 2017's Dead Men Tell No Tales. When asked directly, Bloom remained coy: 'Who knows? I can't say anything at the moment because I really don't know. They're trying to work out what it would all look like.'His remarks echo those of longtime producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who previously told ComicBook.com that a reboot is still in the works. Bruckheimer noted that Pirates is easier to revive than some other blockbuster franchises, since it doesn't hinge on the availability of any one actor. When Orlando Bloom talks about getting "the band back together," he likely means reuniting with his Pirates of the Caribbean co-stars Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp.Of the trio, Depp remains the biggest uncertainty. Studios have continued to tread carefully around the actor due to his controversial public image, and Depp himself once declared he wouldn't work with Disney again—not even 'for $300 million and a million alpacas.' Still, in Hollywood, few things are truly off the table. Given that the Pirates franchise has raked in $4.5 billion worldwide across five films, Disney certainly has incentive to consider a revival.Depp starred in all five movies, while Bloom and Knightley were absent from the fourth installment, On Stranger Tides, and only made brief appearances in the fifth, Dead Men Tell No Tales.Bloom, however, is no stranger to epic returns. He famously came back as Legolas in The Hobbit trilogy after his run in The Lord of the Rings—so another return to Pirates isn't out of the question."The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum" is set to be released December 17, 2027, and Bloom could very well be one of the franchise favorites to return along with Andy Serkis.

How a $90M indie film beat Marvel, Disney: Highest-grossing original live-action in years out-earned Mission Impossible

There is a common complaint from mainstream Hollywood that it does not make original films anymore. Everything is either a remake, a reboot, an adaptation, or a straight-up sequel. Then you have the ever-growing cinematic universes, where everything is connected. Original films are rare, and their success at the box office is even rarer. So, it is a 'stop press' moment when an original film, not backed by a major studio, beats heavyweights like Disney and Marvel at the ticket window. Ryan Coogler showed his versatility in 2025 with the Gothic vampire film Sinners. Produced under his own banner of Proximity Media, Sinners starred Michael B Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, and Jack O'Connell in pivotal roles. The film, made on a $90-million budget, was snapped up for distribution by Warner Bros after an independent production. Ever since its release in April, Sinners has set the box office ablaze, minting $272 million in the domestic (North American) market. This makes Sinners the third-highest-grossing film in the US this year. But more importantly, it is the highest-grossing original live-action film in the territory in 15 years. To reach this peak, Sinners beat films like Dunkirk ($188 million), Crazy Rich Asians ($174 million), Knives Out ($165 million), 1917 ($157 million), and Nope ($123 million). The last original live-action film to do better was Christopher Nolan's Inception, which grossed $292 million in 2010. Sinners has not just topped the charts for original films, but also given several big-studio-backed IP films a run for their money too. In the North American market, Sinners' $272-million gross is higher than blockbusters like John Wick Chapter 4 ($187 million), Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire ($196 million), and Mufasa: The Lion King ($126 million). The film has even done better than Tom Cruise's latest - Mission Impossible The Final Recknoning - which earned $151 million domestically. Both the big Marvel releases of 2025 - Captain America: Brave New World ($200 million) and Thunderbolts ($187 million) also lag behind. Sinners, however, has not done wonders overseas, which is par for the course for an independent film not backed by an IP. The film has earned under $85 million overseas for a worldwide gross of $357 million. It still puts it above the likes of Dunkirk and Tenet, but the Marvel films soar ahead because of their high overseas gross. Despite that, Sinners remains the sixth-highest-grossing Hollywood film of the year. And it achieved that on a budget of $90 million with no big studio support.

'Deep Cover': Director Tom Kingsley opens up about working with Nick Mohammed, Orlando Bloom, Bryce Dallas Howard in new comedy

What do you get when you mix undercover police work, a trio of improv actors, and send them off into the gritty underbelly of London's criminal underworld? The answer is in director Tom Kingsley's 'Deep Cover', a high-octane, genre-bending caper that's equal parts action thriller and comedy. Known for his sharp comedic instincts, Kingsley brings to screens the hilariously ill-fated tale of struggling performers mistaken for operatives, who quickly find themselves in deeper waters than they ever rehearsed for. ETimes sat down with Kingsley to unpack the madness behind the method, what drew him to the story, and how he built his ensemble featuring Orlando Bloom, Bryce Dallas Howard , Nick Mohammed and Paddy Considine . Deep Cover - Official Trailer | Prime Video Tom, Deep Cover feels like a genre-bending project—what first drew you in, and how would you describe it? Deep Cover is a very fast and fun action comedy about a group of struggling improv actors who are recruited by the police to go undercover in a very low-stakes surveillance operation… but because they commit so seriously to their characters, they accidentally get themselves way too deep in London's criminal underworld. It's a great premise because it very quickly puts our hapless comedy trio way out of their comfort zones, and the result is something that's tense, absurd, and very exciting. I was drawn to it because I love the work of the writers Ben Ashenden and Alex Owen, and I could feel their charm and wit throughout the script. What inspired the idea of using improv actors in a dangerous, action-heavy setting? Was it about exploring the chaos? The core idea is that the skills you need for improv comedy - staying in character and coping with whatever curveballs come your way - are the same skills you need to be an undercover cop. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Keep Your Home Efficient with This Plug-In elecTrick - Save upto 80% on Power Bill Learn More Undo The heart of the movie is Nick's character Hugh, who starts as a hilariously terrible amateur comedian, but by the end, his character becomes so incredibly skilled that it makes me want to punch the air in joy. It's really fun watching situations spiral into chaos, and our characters have to work very hard to get things back under control. The cast is stacked—Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom, Nick Mohammed, and Paddy Considine. How did this ensemble come together? Nick Mohammed's adorably bumbling character. Hugh is the one who absolutely had to be played by a comedian, and we were so lucky to get Nick, he's one of the funniest performers I've ever met, and makes me cry laughing. We've worked together several times before and I knew he was going to make the movie as funny as possible. Orlando Bloom's character is a ridiculously intense method actor, and from the very first time I spoke to him, it was clear he totally understood the assignment. The more seriously and authentically he played it, the funnier it would be. Bryce Dallas Howard is the perfect foil for Nick and Orlando's characters, she has such a wonderful exasperated energy as she tries to stop them from descending into chaos - kind of like Kermit the Frog helping the muppets keep the show on the road. Paddy Considine was a joy to work with. He's a very relaxed and instinctive performer, and he brought so much humanity and warmth to a role that could be have just been a stereotype All three—Bryce, Orlando, and Paddy—have action film experience. Did that influence how they approached this more comedic, improvised structure? I think of this film as much more of a comedy than an action film. And for the comedy in this movie to really work, it's important that the audience totally believes that our shambolic undercover agents are in properly dangerous situations and a lot of that comes from the actors just being great actors, whether they've been in action movies before or not. You've had success in both TV and film. Which medium do you find more creatively fulfilling? Thank you! I think when you're planning, filming and editing there's absolutely no difference between TV and film. The satisfaction of making a difficult scene work, doing justice to the script, or being able to make the audience laugh or cry - those things are all rewarding, whatever the medium. Hopefully, I'll continue to do both things. M heart is in movies, but I love the pace and collaborative energy of making TV. With Deep Cover being such a dynamic experience, do you see it as a film best watched in theatres or does it translate well to streaming? We definitely made Deep Cover to be shown in cinemas: we shot it to look like a proper cinematic 80s action comedy, we put so much care into the incredibly detailed ear-splitting sound design, and we put all the money we had up on screen. Plus, the joy you get from watching a hard comedy with a big crowd is one of my favourite things. The communal experience of the cinema makes you laugh more, feel connected to the audience and the movie - and you pay attention more too! That said, the film is the same film wherever it's shown, and we all feel very very lucky that Amazon is releasing it in every country around the world - they've made it way more accessible and given it a way bigger platform than we ever thought possible. 'Deep Cover', which also stars Ian McShane and Sean Bean begins streaming on Prime Video on Thursday, June 12.

Recalling those days, the Hannah Montana star said, "When I was dating, or I was engaged at the time, but that didn't work out because I was sharing a part of myself that men wanted to be saved for them only, and the fact that I would pose n*de or dance in very little clothes or show my body, was making them feel that I was taking something away that was meant to be for them."
