Cloud of mystery continues to hover over status of Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah
After injuring his neck against the Baltimore Ravens in the middle of the 2024 season, a cloud of mystery has hung over Cleveland Browns linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.
The Pro Bowl linebacker was placed on Injured Reserve and his season ended that day. However, there has been little clarity given from the Browns about what the future holds for Owusu-Koramoah after he was stretchered off the field this past season.
General manager Andrew Berry was asked about the status of his Pro Bowl linebacker while speaking to the media at the NFL combine, and again a vague update was given:
'I wish I had a specific update for you on Jeremiah. I would say that he's slowly making progress. He's going through all that's required medically, but I don't have anything specific.'
This is trending in a direction where it seems like the Browns nor Owusu-Koramoah know whether or not he will be able to play football again after a significant blow to his neck.
I guess no news is good news until we hear something of substance regarding the long-term health of Owusu-Koramoah.

Breece Hall thought he might be traded until Aaron Glenn called him
Breece Hall was on the trade market . . . unless he wasn't. The Jets running back heard the rumors, and until new coach Aaron Glenn called him to quell the speculation, Hall wasn't certain what his future held. 'I mean, I was seeing it just like everybody else was seeing it,' Hall said Wednesday, via video from Ralph Vacchiano of SNY. 'But if people feel like you're not doing your job, you're going to be replaced. It didn't happen. . . . AG called me and told me he wanted me to be here. So, you know, for me, that meant a lot. I'm here. I'm here to work and ready to do my job. I'm proving that I deserve to be here.' General Manager Darren Mougey refuted any trade talk involving Hall during the draft, saying the Jets had not considered dealing Hall. Glenn told Hall the same thing in a phone call. 'At first I was like, 'OK, we'll see what happens,' and then AG called me and told me, he's like, 'Breece, do you think I want to trade you?'' Hall said. 'I was like, 'I don't know.' He was like, 'Breece, I don't want to trade you. I want you to be here. You're going to be our running back.' So, that felt really good.' Hall averaged a career-low 4.2 yards per carry and a career-low 54.8 yards per game in 2024. Even though he played 16 games, Hall revealed he had a 'pretty serious' knee injury. He admits last season 'sucked' in every way as the Jets went 5-12. 'Yeah, it's always frustrating as a team and as an individual when you're not winning games and playing as well as you expect,' Hall said. 'Then, after the season, there's always someone to blame or the blame is put on. A lot of it just so happened to kind of be on me. So, it was like, 'OK, just get back to the drawing board, just get back to working hard.' I know what kind of potential I have, but potential only goes so far. I want to be a product. I want to be able to say that I've done everything I wanted to do.' Hall is entering the fourth and final season of his rookie deal and still looking for his first 1,000-yard rushing season and his first Pro Bowl. Glenn has indicated the team would have a running back by committee, with Braelon Allen, Isaiah Davis and Kene Nwangwu also on the depth chart at the position. 'I'm not obligated anything. I've got to go and prove that I am the guy,' Hall said. 'I feel like I am a three-down back. Every day I'm going to prove I'm the best back on this roster and one of the best backs in the league.'

Myles Garrett: "I look forward to having my best season for sure"
Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is expecting big things in 2025. After Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz predicted that Garrett will have his best season this year, Garrett himself said that's exactly what he's planning on. 'I look forward to having my best season for sure, and I think it's trending that way,' Garrett said. 'Been really good, and I think everything's pointed in that direction.' Garrett began the offseason by requesting a trade and saying he didn't want to stay in Cleveland because he didn't believe the Browns could win a Super Bowl any time soon. But he changed his tune when the Browns gave him a lucrative contract extension, and he says he's not optimistic about his and the team's future. 'The day I stepped forth here at this facility, with this organization, I've had an opportunity to have a platform and to set a standard,' Garrett said. 'And I've got to continue to be the leader for this team and set that standard.'

Myles Garrett wants to put Aaron Rodgers in the 'graveyard' of quarterbacks he's sacked
Myles Garrett has sacked 31 quarterbacks during his eight years in the NFL, and Aaron Rodgers is not among them. The Browns' star pass rusher is hoping to add Rodgers to the list after the four-time MVP signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. Cleveland plays at Pittsburgh on Oct. 12 and hosts the Steelers on Dec. 28. "I think it's a good opportunity to put him in the graveyard," Garrett said with a smile after the Browns finished their first minicamp practice on Tuesday. Garrett has 13 sacks in 15 games against the Steelers. He took down Russell Wilson four times in two games last season. Garrett has decorated his front yard for Halloween since 2021 with tombstones or other ghoulish displays symbolizing every quarterback he has sacked. Last year's display was inspired by the "Terminator" movie franchise and featured replicas of slain cyborgs wearing the jerseys of QBs taken down by Garrett. Garrett has faced Rodgers only once — a Christmas Day game in 2021 at Green Bay. He was held without a sack and the Browns lost 24-22. After signing a record four-year contract extension worth $204.8 million, Garrett knows more is expected of him on and off the field. Defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz last year said he believes Garrett is going to have the best season of his career and quoted another popular franchise, "Spider-Man," saying: "With great power comes great responsibility." When he heard what Schwartz said, Garrett asked, "So that would make him my Uncle Ben, right?" "I mean, I look forward to having my best season for sure, and I think it's trending that way," Garrett said. "I like where we are as a defensive unit. It's really firing, really rolling, and I think it's really clicking as far as the scheme and the plays, especially early on. That's big." The four-time All-Pro edge rusher requested a trade at the end of last season before agreeing to the extension, which made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history for a couple of weeks until Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase got an even more lucrative deal. Garrett was in Japan for part of the Browns' voluntary team activities, but he noted he made multiple trips to the team complex before this week's mandatory minicamp began. When Garrett asked for a trade, he said he didn't think the Browns were in a position to win, especially coming off a 3-14 season in which he had 14 sacks and became the first player since sacks became an official statistic in 1982 to have four straight seasons with at least 14. The roster remains a work in progress, but Garrett is determined to be a leader. "If they don't get it, you make them get it. Like I said, being that leader, setting that standard and showing guys how it's done instead of expecting them to know it," he said. "Guys come from different places, come from college, and you got to push them in the right direction. You got to guide them. I know they'll be better. I know we will be better."
