Rulani Mokwena linked with Pyramids FC job after Krunoslav Jurcic exit rumours

According to reports, Jurcic now looks like he's on his way out, and the next man in could be Mokwena, who was recently fired by Morocco's Wydad Casablanca after an underwhelming season.
The Egyptian club made history this past weekend when they became the latest team to add their name to the list of CAF Champions League winners when they beat Sundowns in Cairo.
A report in The Egyptian Telegraph suggests that club bosses at the newly crowned African champions have been impressed with what Mokwena has been able to achieve at just 38 years old, and are working behind the scenes to ensure that his next port of call is in Cairo.
Should Mokwena move to Egypt, it could leave his mentor Pitso Mosimane as the favourite for the Pirates job.
A report in Soccer Laduma earlier this week suggested the name of Marco Rose, formerly of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig. However, due to the significant amount of money the club would need to lure the German to South Africa, it's unlikely we will be seeing him in the PSL.
Mandla Ncikazi, Riveiro's number two at Pirates, was put in charge of the team on an interim basis after the Spaniard's departure. There have been calls for Ncikazi, who has intimate knowledge of the current squad, to be given the job on a full-time basis.

Bafana struggle This was a painful watch in general, however, as Bafana laboured to break down a Tanzanian side that seemed content with a draw from kick off. Three players were handed their Bafana debuts from the start against Tanzania. Orlando Pirates pair Deano Van Rooyen and Simphiwe Selepe along with TS Galaxy's Khulumani Ndumane got their chance to shine on the international stage. It was one of Bafana's regulars, Oswin Appollis, who shone in the first half. In just the fourth minute, the Polokwane City forward pounced on a mistake in the Tanzania penalty area, but his effort was cleared off the line. On the half hour mark, a neat passing move found Thalente Mbatha in space on the edge of the box, but he fired way off target. And on the stroke of half time, it was Appollis who threatened again, his long-range strike comfortably saved by Tanzania goalkeeper Suleiman Ali. In truth, the first half was a difficult watch, with neither side really able to string too much together in the attacking third. Greater intent Bafana came out with far more intent after the break. Tshepang Moremi nearly latched onto Mbatha's fine long range pass. Moremi then saw his fizzing long-range effort tipped wide by Ali. And Mofokeng blew a great chance to score in stoppage time when he was gifted possession and chipped the ball over Ali but onto the roof of the net.

'I advised Chiefs to sign Mayele but Bobby ignored me'
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Kanga Nzenza says he once advised Amakhosi to sign Congolese top striker Fiston Mayele, but his plea was left unheard. Mayele is one of the hottest strikers on the African continent, having helped Pyramids win the CAF Champions League this past weekend. The 30-year-old finished the competition as the top goalscorer, having scored in the semi-final and final. Since last year, Kaizer Chiefs have been linked to Mayele, but no formal bid has been made by the Soweto giants. Nzenza mentioned that he spoke with Amakhosi boss Bobby Motaung about the striker. 'I once advised Chiefs to acquire Mayele,' Nzenza told KickOff. 'Just look at what he is doing now. I was clear that Chiefs needed to sign him because he has the ability to do well here. He can blend well with the Chiefs players and has been performing well, even though he may not be in top form at the moment. 'I even mentioned to that I was struggling to reach Bobby Motaung about Mayele because he is always busy. My plea was that Chiefs must sign him. They received my message, but they didn't act on it,' added the retired footballer. 'At the time, he was playing for Yanga in Tanzania, but then a club from Egypt signed him. He's an exceptional player. Whenever he comes to play for the national team, they refer to him as a super sub. 'Whenever he comes on, he changes the game. Look at how Sundowns lost the [Caf] Champions League because of him.' Given how much Mayele earns at Pyramids, Kaizer Chiefs are unlikely to afford his wages.
