Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill dealing with oblique injury

Reutersa day ago
August 8 - Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is dealing with an oblique injury, head coach Mike McDaniel revealed on Friday.
Hill was on the practice field but not in pads as the Dolphins prepared for a joint session with the Chicago Bears in Lake Forest, Ill.
"It got worse because he was taking every rep that was on the books," McDaniel said of Hill, 31, who was absent from Wednesday's practice.
Given the injury, Hill is unlikely to play in Sunday's preseason opener at Chicago. The Dolphins open up the regular season at Indianapolis on Sept. 7.
Hill only missed one game in his first three seasons with Miami, catching 319 passes for 4,468 yards and 26 scores in 50 starts from 2022-24.
The five-time All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowl selection has 798 receptions for 11,098 yards and 82 touchdowns in 141 career games (123 starts) with the Kansas City Chiefs (2016-21) and Dolphins.

Mo Salah criticises UEFA tribute to 'Palestinian Pele' Suleiman al Obeid

Liverpool forward Mo Salah has criticised UEFA for not revealing how a footballer known as "Palestinian Pele" died as it paid tribute to him in a social media post. The Palestine Football Association said on Wednesday that Suleiman al Obeid, 41, was killed by an "Israeli airstrike targeting civilians" while he waited for humanitarian aid in the southern Gaza Strip on Wednesday. In a brief post on the social media platform X on Friday, UEFA called the former national team member "a talent who gave hope to countless children, even in the darkest of times". Salah, an Egyptian forward who is a devout Muslim, responded: "Can you tell us how he died, where, and why?" UEFA has told Sky Sports it will not be commenting on the Liverpool footballer's post. He has previously advocated for humanitarian aid to be allowed into Gaza in the nearly two-year-old war. The United Nations says more than 1,000 people have been killed near aid distribution sites and aid convoys in Gaza since the launch of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, a US and Israel-backed aid distribution system, in late May. In a tribute on its website, the Palestine Football Association said al Obeid had two sons and three daughters. It added that the footballer was born in Gaza City and played for clubs based in both Gaza and the West Bank.

Sunday's briefing: Sesko introduced to Old Trafford and Rodri suffers setback

Benjamin Sesko was introduced to Old Trafford as Manchester United showed off their latest signing. Newcastle's Alexander Isak was conspicuous by his absence once again and Manchester City star Rodri may have to wait a little longer to cement his return. Hartlepool fan Jeff Stelling, however, did get to watch his team as they kicked off their season at Yeovil. Ben's a Red Devil Manchester United paraded £73.7million signing Benjamin Sesko as they celebrated the career of returning keeper David De Gea before their 1-1 friendly draw and subsequent shoot-out win against Fiorentina at Old Trafford. The 22-year-old striker has signed a deal until 2030 at United, who the PA news agency understands are paying RB Leipzig 76.5m euros (£66.3m) plus a potential 8.5m euros (£7.4m) in add-ons, and is intent on fulfilling his potential under Ruben Amorim. Sesko said: 'From the moment that I arrived, I could feel the positive energy and family environment that the club has created. It is clearly the perfect place to reach my maximum level and fulfil all of my ambitions. 'I cannot wait to start learning from Ruben and connecting with my team-mates to achieve the success that we all know we are capable of together.' Out of Howe's hands Eddie Howe has admitted he will not have the final say over striker Alexander Isak's future at Newcastle. The Magpies have rejected a £110million offer for the 25-year-old Sweden international, who has three years remaining on his contract, from Liverpool, but his situation remains shrouded in uncertainty. Asked after Saturday's 2-0 Sela Cup defeat by Atletico Madrid at St James' Park if he may have to let the player go, Howe said: 'That's a decision that I won't make, that will be for other people to make.' Howe's comments came as the Reds' coffers were boosted by the completion of Darwin Nunez's move to Saudi club Al Hilal in a deal understood to be worth an initial £46m. Setback for Rodri Manchester City midfielder Rodri has suffered an injury setback which will not see him return to full fitness until after September's international break. The Spain international was absent for the majority of last season with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament but, after returning late in the campaign, he is believed to have sustained a groin problem during City's Club World Cup exit to Al Hilal last month. 'Rodri's getting better, but he had a big injury in the last game against Al Hilal and for the last five or six weeks,' said manager Pep Guardiola. 'He's training right now and in the last two or three days is better. Hopefully maybe the international break is when he will be really, really fit.' Stalemate for Stelling Hartlepool could not provide former honorary president Jeff Stelling with a win as they opened their National League campaign with a 0-0 draw at Yeovil. Broadcaster Stelling sat in the stands at Huish Park with 198 other away fans after a fall-out with club chairman Raj Singh, who had bizarrely asked for the TV and radio presenter to be banned from away boardrooms. In the Sky Bet Championship, relegated Leicester host crisis club Sheffield Wednesday hoping to launch another promotion charge. Corbin Carroll stays hot, Lourdes Gurriel delivers walk-off in D-Backs' win over Rockies

August 10 - Corbin Carroll homered for the third straight game, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. drove in three runs and had a walkoff double in the ninth, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Colorado Rockies 6-5 in Phoenix on Saturday. Geraldo Perdomo doubled with one out in the ninth off Jimmy Herget (0-2) and scored on Gurriel's double, which one-hopped the wall in left field and gave rookie right-hander Andrew Hoffman (1-0) his first major league win in his sixth appearance. Carroll tied his career high with 25 homers and has four in the last seven games. His game-tying shot in the fifth was measured at an estimated 437 feet. Brenton Doyle had two hits including a homer and Ezequiel Tovar had two hits and an RBI for the Rockies, who have lost six in a row and have been outscored 66-17 in the stretch. Perdomo had three hits and scored twice, Ketel Marte had two hits and scored twice, and Gurriel and Blaze Alexander had two hits apiece for the Diamondbacks, who have won five of seven. Marte is 14 for 30 with two homers and nine RBIs against Colorado this season. Tyler Freeman, who walked in five plate appearances, has reached base in 51 of his last 52 starts, but D-Backs left-hander Andrew Saalfrank got him to ground into a double play with a runner on first to end the eighth. Arizona starter Eduardo Rodriguez gave up five runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings, with five walks and two strikeouts. Three of his walks scored. Colorado starter Bradley Blalock gave up five runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings, with four strikeouts and three walks. Two of his three walks scored. The D-Backs took a 1-0 lead on Gurriel's single in the first before the Rockies scored the next four for a 4-1 lead. Doyle hit a two-run homer and Kyle Farmer singled in a run in the second. Tovar walked, stole second and scored on rookie Warming Bernabel's single in the third. Marte doubled in a run and Gurriel hit a sacrifice fly as the D-Backs cut the deficit to 4-3 in the third. Carroll's homer triggered a two-run fifth capped by Adrian Del Castillo's two-out, run-scoring double for a 5-4 lead. Rodriguez, in line for the victory, walked Farmer with one out in the sixth before being replaced by Juan Burgos, who gave up Tovar's single to tie the game at 5-5. --Field Level Media
