Guardians' bats stay hot with 6-3 win over Orioles
CLEVELAND (AP) — Angel Martinez had three hits, Jose Ramirez homered and the Cleveland Guardians defeated the Baltimore Orioles 6-3 Tuesday night for their fourth win in five games since the All-Star break.
Kyle Manzardo and Bryan Rocchio each drove in a pair of runs as the Guardians have won 10 of 12 after a 10-game losing streak to get back to .500 at 50-50.
Ramon Laureano went deep in the sixth inning for the Orioles, who have dropped four of five since the break.
Ramirez drove a 94.4 mile fastball near the top of the strike zone into the right-field seats off Baltimore's Brandon Young (0-5) in the first inning. Seven of Ramirez's 21 homers have come in the last 12 games.
Cleveland starter Joey Cantillo (2-0) did not allow a hit until the fifth inning, when Ramon Urias led off with a base hit down the left-field line. The left-hander allowed one run and two hits in five innings with four walks and five strikeouts.

Rocchio's sacrifice bunt in the seventh inning brought home Nolan Jones and extended Cleveland's lead to 6-3. Rocchio is 6 for 17 with seven RBIs on the homestand. Key stat
Cleveland has 21 homers in its last 12 games, tied with Oakland for the most in the majors since July 7. The Guardians have gone deep in 12 straight games, its longest run since it had a franchise-record, 20-game streak in 2021. Up next

I don't understand the fervor outside of just like Deion Sanders' worship, which he's not playing. It's not that interesting. Like, he's not a part of this anymore. It's just a 5th round rookie quarterback truly fighting for his NFL career and that's just not something that ever sticks in the NFL for teams that are trying to rebuild. They're just going to draft like Lenore Sellers or maybe Arch Manning next year. And that sucks to hear, but we have to stop talking about this as if it's a real thing because it's not. He's a 5th quarterback on a really bad team and he's not going to get a whole lot of practice reps because all the other quarterbacks that they invest more in are also new. If he was a 1st round pick, or even a 2nd round pick, I'll give it to you. I'm talking about a 5th round rookie quarterback who wasn't even the first quarterback that his team drafted in the goddamn draft. Stop, stop. Close

Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) — Bryce Harper homered deep into the right-field bleachers and Kyle Schwarber hit a two-run double after New York's 10th error in five games, sparking the Philadelphia Phillies to a 9-4 win Saturday as the reeling Yankees awaited test rests on the right elbow of captain Aaron Judge. Trea Turner drove in two runs and Edmundo Sosa also homered for the Phillies, who opened a 9-1 lead. Philadelphia started the day a half-game behind the NL East-leading New York Mets. Schwarber had six RBIs and Turner was 6 for 11 as Philadelphia outscored New York 21-9 in the first two games of the three-game series.
