Ohio State football named its 'Dudes of the Week' on Thursday
While the Ohio State football team isn't in the middle of fall training camp, it's still in and around the Woody Hayes Athletic Complex getting workouts in in preparation for breaking the seal on the start of camp. We've seen a flurry of activity from some of the "June Olympics" events and other things going on, so we know the team is still hard at work.
For further proof that guys are still on the grind in summer, Ohio State will routinely announce its "Dudes of the Week." We're not quite sure what goes into being nominated, let alone winning the recognition, but you can bet it involves being an Alpha athlete in some way, shape, or form.
For this week, the "Dudes of the Week" are none other than receiver Jeremiah Smith (is there a "Dude of the Year" award?), offensive lineman Austin Siereveld, and linebacker Garrett Stover.
Congratulations to this trio for working hard. We're pretty sure it's not the last we've seen of any of them in the spotlight.

Notre Dame football offers 2029 California jumbo athlete prospect his first scholarship

While we have seen Notre Dame football look ahead in its recruiting efforts, and they often don't look too far ahead, they did on Friday. The Irish offered 2029 California jumbo athlete Inokefotu Fakatou, making it his first Division 1 scholarship. Already standing 6-foot, 3-inches and weighing 215-pounds, Notre Dame is trying to get significantly ahead of the curve in his recruitment. Fakatou's class has yet to even begin his high school career, but clearly showed enough for Notre Dame to pull the trigger on a scholarship offer. It will be very interesting to see his recruitment play out, as there most likely will be at least few years until he makes a decision. He will play his first snaps at the high school level for Orange Lutheran, who is set to begin its season on Aug. 23rd. Fatakou's team will play a very tough schedule, as they are set to face off against powerhouses like Mater Dei, St. John Bosco, and Sierra Canyon. If he's able to make some noise as a freshman against those teams, Notre Dame's recruiting staff will look like geniuses with the early offer. Florida legend Tim Tebow included on AP's 100th anniversary all-time All-America Team

The Associated Press recently announced its All-Time All-America teams amidst the organization's 100th anniversary, bestowing one of the most prestigious honors in college football among a very select few. It should come as no surprise that Florida Gators legend Tim Tebow made the cut, but even the Orange and Blue faithful might be mildly surprised by which roster he landed in. According to the AP's latest lineup, the storied collegiate quarterback earned the First-Team spot under center, joining a star-studded group of historic greats. "Florida's Tim Tebow edged Texas' Vince Young (2005) for all-time first-team quarterback. Tebow won the Heisman and made the AP All-America team as a sophomore in 2007, his first year as the starter," AP writer Eric Olson offers. "He led the Gators to their second national championship in three years in 2008 and narrowly missed a chance at another when the 2009 team started 13-0 but lost to Alabama in the SEC championship game. He remains the SEC career leader in rushing touchdowns and touchdowns responsible for." First team by conference *Based on players' school affiliations at the time they were in college About the AP All-Time All-America team "Of the 25 players on the first team, five won the Heisman Trophy and 21 are in the College Football Hall of Fame, two are nominated for induction in 2026 and two are not eligible because they are not yet 10 years removed from their college careers," the article states. "A panel of 12 AP sports writers who cover college football selected the all-time team. It won't be, and shouldn't be, considered definitive. There have been far more great players over the last century than spots available. "For a player to qualify, he must have been an AP first-team All-American at least once. His professional career, if any, was not to be considered. Also, a member of the all-time team could only be listed on the side of the ball where he was named first-team All-America. All-purpose players could come from any position. "Voters were cautioned against recency bias, but it is notable that only three of the first-team selections played before 1970. Of the 12 players who were three-time All-Americans, only four made the two all-time teams picked by AP." 'You wish you were Georgia Tech.' Atlanta radio host roasts Auburn, Eric Singleton

Losing your team's leading receiver from the last two seasons to the transfer portal will make any fan base salty. So it is easy to see why Georgia Tech fans, or media members covering the program, would question Auburn wide receiver Eric Singleton's decision to transfer away from Georgia Tech after recording 1,468 receiving yards and nine touchdowns over the last two seasons on the Flats. One Atlanta radio show host expressed his confusion about the move on Friday morning, and even took the opportunity to blast Auburn's program. John Michaels, co-host of The Locker Room on 680 the Fan in Atlanta, believes that Auburn's football program is inferior to Georgia Tech's at the moment, and does not understand why Singleton would bolt to the Plains. "Georgia Tech is better than Auburn right now. Auburn fans, you can yell at me all you want; you wish you were Georgia Tech right now. You wish you had Haynes King and Jamal Haynes and some of the other guys," Michaels said Friday. "Auburn could potentially be good, but they are banking on a quarterback in Jackson Arnold, who wasn't very good at Oklahoma, transferring there, and Eric Singleton. I don't get that transfer. I never got that transfer." Singleton was a multi-level threat at Georgia Tech. Outside of hauling in over 1,450 receiving yards, he also logged 241 return yards as a sophomore. His speed and athleticism will be hard to replace at Georgia Tech, but he will be welcomed at Auburn as the Tigers look to take a step forward under year three of the Hugh Freeze era. Singleton will not only mesh with Cam Coleman, Malcolm Simmons, Horatio Fields, and Malcolm Simmons in the wide receiver room, but he will stand alongside Tulane transfer Rayshawn Pleasant in the return game to give Auburn a speed advantage. The season has yet to begin, but expect the concept of "Georgia Tech is better than Auburn" to be examined as the season plays out.
