Actress Sarah White played Bev Dixon for a decade on Brookside until it was axed in 2003.
And now The Sun can exclusively reveal she has signed up for a brief stint on the cobbles.
A source said: 'Sarah will be playing a mediator as part of Theo Silverton's acrimonious divorce from wife Danielle.
'She's filming now and will be seen on screen later this year.'
Sarah has also appeared in Doctors and critically-acclaimed film God's Own Country since leaving Brookside.
She will join the storyline alongside former Emmerdale star Natalie Anderson who plays Danielle in the soap.
'I'm loving my time here at Coronation Street, it's fantastic,' she said recently.
'There's a real nostalgia with Coronation Street, some of the most incredible actors have tread the cobbles so for me personally it's a huge honour to follow those footsteps and be a tiny part of its history.
'I'm really enjoying myself, I've got some great friends here and it's just a joy. To be part of that soap legacy, even a teeny part, is such an honour when you've grown up with it.
'Back in the day Raquel and Curly, Jack and Vera, Deirdre/Ken and Mike were all these amazing icons that many of us working in the genre today really looked up to as we set out.'
Speaking about her character, she said: 'Danielle is a very interesting character, she's very layered, you never really know what you're going to get, you think she's going to be one thing then she turns out to be another, which is really fun to play.
'It's great for me to play something different, going into all those different facets of her has been really exciting.'

Corrie's Kit drops major clue about someone close to him in early ITVX release

This article contains spoilers for tonight's Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX. DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) has clearly been up to something in Coronation Street of late, and it appears to have something to do with his boss, DI Costello. Earlier this week, DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) grew suspicious after overhearing Kit on the phone. Once his back was turned, she did some detective work of her own and discovered that her colleague had noted an unfamiliar phone number down alongside the DI's name. When she asked him whether he had a new phone, Costello denied it, before questioning her relationship with Kit and warning her to keep it professional as he didn't want to see her dragged down with him. Of course, this left Lisa even more suspicious, though when she tried to quiz Kit, he gave nothing away. Their conversation was interrupted by Kit's phone ringing, with the detective being called into the station. It quickly transpired that Eli, Sarah Platt's (Tina O'Brien) client, had filed a harassment complaint against him, and he and Costello needed to discuss it. However, Kit's guard was raised when Costello let him off relatively lightly, dropping the matter and relegating him to desk duty, insisting that Kit tell anyone who asked that it was because of his injuries. Ever observant, Lisa didn't buy the excuse and told Kit that if he was having issues with Costello then she could help. He brushed her off, insisting that he was simply injured, though it was clear she wasn't convinced. Later, Kit finally admitted that he was suspicious of Costello's motives, pointing out that he usually came down hard on his coppers instead of letting them off easy. As Kit pondered this, Lisa took the opportunity to question why he had tried to access Becky Swain's files. Viewers will know that Lisa's late wife was also police, and was under investigation for corruption when she was killed in the line of duty. When Lisa went looking for more information, she was caught red-handed by Costello himself, who assured her that there was nothing to find, as the case against Becky had been dropped. However, Lisa had found something – a request for the files from her colleague. Though Kit told Lisa to stop snooping, he later confessed to Sarah that he had been investigating a case that had links to an historic case involving Becky. However, when Costello demanded that he leave the case well alone, Kit continued to investigate in secret – and he may have found something. More Trending When Kit was later called into Costello's office, the boss told him that he was 'a man of integrity with nothing to hide' and Kit should be careful what he says. Undeterred, Kit retorted that that 'wasn't strictly true'… View More » What has Kit got on DI Costello, and could it cost him his job? And could it have something to do with Becky's death? Emmerdale fans gushing over Celia as they heap praise on dastardly twist

Emmerdale fans had a lot to say when a plot twist was delivered in last night's episode. Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) recently decided to accept a deal with fellow farmer Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) in an attempt to try and save the struggling Butlers. Celia, recognising the financial pressures both women are under, pitched a partnership. She suggested they combine forces: Moira would supply beef from her farm, while Celia would market and sell her poultry products to a reliable supplier. The plan aimed to increase income for both and provide stability amid tough market conditions. Celia explained that her outgoings have increased by £1000 a month thanks to her sly landlord, and she was aware of Moira's financial position. She saw a win-win opportunity for both women to solve both their problems. In yesterday's instalment, Celia popped by and spoke to a hopeful Moira about their new contract. As far as Moira was concerned, this was the light at the end of a very long tunnel. Sadly, Celia returned a few hours later with some devastating news. The plan was no longer going ahead, which meant Moira had lost thousands of pounds. Celia felt awful, knowing she had put Moira in this position because the partnership was her idea. A while later though, we saw Celia again, and where she was standing very much proved she didn't feel the tiniest bit sorry for Moira. The new face was visiting Home Farm to see Joe Tate (Ned Porteous). It was then confirmed in that moment that she is working with Joe and Kim Tate (Claire King) as part of their plan to buy all of the land that surrounds Home Farm. Celia revealed that the plot had been completed. As far as she was concerned, Moira made a massive error by agreeing to the deal so quickly and barely looking at the contract. Even though many fans of the ITV soap love Moira, they couldn't help but be impressed with Celia's skill. Rachel Kennedy on social media platform X said: 'Ooh this Celia is a nasty piece of work I'm already obsessed. #Emmerdale.' Another already giving Celia icon status wrote: 'Welcome home Mother Celia and princess stick #emmerdale.' Reacting to the twist that Celia is working for the Tates, this fan added: 'WoW. I didn't see Celia being in cahoots with Kim & Joe coming. why is Dawn surprised that Joe has no problem destroying Moira for land?.' It's important to add though that quite a few audience members were a little disappointed in the twist last night, with many noting that they enjoyed seeing Celia's friendship with Moira develop. Meanwhile though, love for her seems to grow whenever she wanders onto Butlers with her crook in hand. 'CELIA', Danny simply said, adding a love heart. Celia Daniels made her arrival to the ITV soap in June. Her first scenes were with Moira, but she then became part of a story that saw Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) attacked by a dog that was on her farmland. More Trending In the aftermath, Paddy took a bolt gun from the vets and went to the spot where the dog attacked him. He was found by Celia, who said that she had shot the stray dog already. Celia got the upper hand in this conversation and scared Paddy away by practically screaming in his face. With his self-esteem low, Paddy unleashed his anger on his dad and said it would be better if he no longer lived with them. It was a brief plot with Celia, but she made quite the impact in a very short space of time. She proved that she did not care what other people thought of her, because making enemies in the village is far more enjoyable to her than making friends. Jaye Griffiths said recently: 'The Emmerdale audience are finally starting to see the true extent of Celia's personality. She's great fun to play but she is ruthless and there is plenty more to come.' Professor Brian Cox ‘excited' to receive Francis Crick Institute scholarship

BBC science presenter Professor Brian Cox has said he is 'excited' after receiving a scholarship from the Francis Crick Institute. As part of the scholarship, the 57-year-old will present a new podcast called A Question Of Science, produced by BBC Studios and recorded at the London biomedical research centre. Cox said: 'Science doesn't happen in isolation. The way we fund it, regulate it, and apply it, all depend on reaching across boundaries. 'I'm excited to bring a different perspective to the Crick and its science, and I'm personally fascinated by the convergence of physics with the questions being asked by biologists at one of the best research institutions in the world. 'The podcast A Question Of Science, has already shown that the real experts have much to say about issues that affect all of us and that scientists can even be entertaining.' His role will also see him promoting, explaining and exploring multidisciplinary research and championing the role of science in the world. Paul Nurse, chief executive and director of the institute, said: 'We are very much looking forward to working with Brian, who will be a great addition to the Crick community. 'As scientists, it's important for us to remain outward facing. Brian has a natural ability to link the scientific community with wider society, pioneering new ways to engage the public and acting as an advocate for science and its potential to improve the lives of millions.' The new podcast will launch on September 17, with episodes looking at subjects such as climate change, cures for cancer and AI, and will run for 12 episodes. Cox is best known for BBC shows such as Brian Cox's Adventures In Space And Time, The Planets and Forces Of Nature. Before becoming a physicist, Cox was a keyboard player in dance band D:Ream, who are best known for their song Things Can Only Get Better.
