How Galatasaray could hand Barcelona an unexpected transfer boost

Yahoo3 days ago
La Liga champions Barcelona could be afforded an incoming boost on the financial front by way of Turkish heavyweights Galatasaray.
That's according to Sempre Barca, who have revealed fresh interest in Iñaki Peña on Gala's part.
Shot-stopper Peña is of course widely expected to be on the move before the summer is out, having continued to tumble down the pecking order between the posts in Hansi Flick's squad following the arrival of Joan García.
To date, reports had largely suggested that a contract termination was the most likely outcome between the parties.
As alluded to above, however, if the latest word stemming from the media this weekend is anything to go by, then Barcelona could yet secure a considerable fee for Peña's services.
As per a report from the aforementioned :
'With a deal for (Manchester City star) Ederson becoming increasingly unlikely, sources have informed Sempre Barca that Galatasaray could shift their focus to a familiar face — Barcelona goalkeeper Iñaki Peña.'
Peña for his part previously spent time on the books at RAMS Park, during a loan spell back in the 2022/23 campaign.
And a reunion could well be on the cards between the parties this summer, amid further claims that Galatasaray are ready to offer up €8-10 million for the 26-year-old.

Schalke "irritated" by QPR collapsing deal for Ba

Despite Schalke and Queens Park Rangers already agreeing on a transfer for Pape Meïssa Ba twice, the striker's move will not go through. The English second division club informed the Royal Blues of their decision on Wednesday morning (August 13). The English second-division club's justification for the collapse is also causing controversy, as the health risk was apparently too great. "We are very irritated by Queens Park's actions over the past two weeks," commented Frank Baumann, the Knappen's sporting director. 'This phase was characterized by delays without substantive explanations, as well as days of non-response to calls and official messages,' he added.

Barcelona President to request bank guarantee from board due to shortfalls

Barcelona President Joan Laporta has been adamant about the strong financial management under his tenure, claiming that they have taken the club out of intensive care. However the struggle to make the club profitable continues to elude him and his board. As a result, Barcelona have been facing more registration problems with the men's first team, but more recently, their wide array of teams in other sports have fallen on hard times. Despite being perennial winners, Barcelona Femeni currently only have 18 players registered, and recently let go of Jana Fernandez to improve their finances. Basket Laporta to request bank guarantee from board members According to Marca, Laporta will request a bank guarantee of €7m from his board members to cover the shortfall. The reason being that their costs have been excessive in terms of their salaries and staff costs, especially when looked at in the context of their salary limit. The board will hold an extraordinary meeting today. Image via FC Barcelona The bank guarantee allows Barcelona to dip into the club accounts temporarily for a set amount in order to fund operations, but the money must then be made up before the end of their mandate. If it is not, then the board themselves are liable for the money personally. RAC1 (via Sport) say there is a certain reluctance from other board members to agree to this, as it is the final year of Laporta's tenure before elections, giving them less time to resolve the matter, and increasing the risk that the board may be liable for the money personally. Barcelona could use bank guarantee to register new signings Barcelona hope to register new signings for their men's first team, Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford, and have tried to activate the injury rule in order to register the former. However amid doubts over whether that will go through without any issues, the option of a bank guarantee in order to register Garcia and Rashford is on the table too. What is happening with Barcelona's €100m VIP seats lease? The Catalan daily explain that they now have their accounts back from auditors Crowe, although they do not mention whether the €100m VIP seats lease has been added back into their balance sheet. The Blaugrana activated the VIP seats for the first time during the Joan Gamper trophy against Como on Sunday, and need both Crowe and then La Liga to accept the measure in order to get the money added back into their salary limit calculations. They are working with La Liga to validate their updated accounts.

Agent Confirms Inter Milan Target & Italy Superstar Falls Out With PSG: 'Appalled, We Are Considering Legal Action'

Gianluigi Donnarumma is on the verge of cutting ties with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) after falling out of favor at the Parc des Princes. Speaking to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, his agent, Enzo Raiola, confirmed an unexpected breakdown in relations with the club. Despite his indispensable status in Paris, Gianluigi Donnarumma has suddenly become an unpopular figure. Indeed, head coach Luis Henrique has omitted him from the squad for tonight's UEFA Super Cup. PSG will take on Tottenham Hotspur without the 26-year-old, who has entered the final year of his contract. Despite ongoing discussions, the parties could go separate ways as early as this summer. Les Parisiens have offered the former AC Milan goalkeeper a new deal worth around €8 million net per season. However, Donnarumma's current wages stand at €11.5 million, which explains the disagreements. Meanwhile, Inter Milan and Manchester City are keeping close tabs on the situation, looking to seize a potential opportunity. Gianluigi Donnarumma Agent Confirms Ongoing Conflict with PSG FLORENCE, ITALY – OCTOBER 08: Gianluigi Donnarumma of Italy looks on prior to the Italy training session at Centro Tecnico Federale di Coverciano on October 08, 2024 in Florence, Italy. (Photo by) 'From Gigio's words, it's clear that he's very disappointed,' Raiola said. 'I am astonished: four years of respect and great results, and in just ten days, an entire castle has truly collapsed. 'They risk erasing everything he has achieved with PSG. 'The situation dragged on: PSG made requests different from the standard contract. 'Gigio even accepted reduced conditions; he was happy to be here, and the results came. 'When we decided to move forward, the terms suddenly changed, and we stopped everything. 'In Los Angeles, they confirmed everything to me, and I told them that Gigio had another year left and preferred not to do anything else. 'What happened in the last few days is unexpected, a huge lack of respect. 'The coach works for the club; we'll see, with our lawyers, what position they've taken.'
