The Couple Next Door season 2 cast, start time and episodes as new drama unfolds

Daily Mirror14-07-2025
The Couple Next Door is back for a second season, with a brand new cast and an entirely new storyline. Here's all you need to know about the Channel 4 series.
Following the gripping first series, 'The Couple Next Door' returns for a second season, boasting an all-new narrative and cast, leaving fans eager for more of the psychological drama that stars Poldark's Eleanor Tomlinson and Outlander's Sam Heughan.
The show initially captivated viewers with the tale of two neighbouring couples and a scandalous affair between the characters played by Tomlinson and Heughan. However, neither will appear in the new outing.

This season, creator David Allison promises a fresh take on the drama, revealing to Radio Times: "The first series was about two couples that collided with each other - a square. Whereas this is more two love triangles... so the dynamic is really different."

Allison also hinted at a shift in character dynamics, noting: "The other thing is this is about characters who are a little bit older. They're in their 40s - it's about a mid-life crisis and there's different things going on in those relationships as well."
Here's the lowdown on what to expect from the new instalment.

Who is in the cast of The Couple Next Door?
Season two of 'The Couple Next Door' introduces a stellar lineup, including The Witcher's Aggy K Adams as enigmatic nurse Mia and Never Have I Ever's Sendhil Ramamurthy portraying Charlotte's former beau Leo.
The series also features Hugh Dennis of 'Outnumbered' fame as Alan, Jeff Rawle from ' Hollyoaks ' as Henry, Adam James of 'Vigil' as Ben, and Maimie McCoy, known for 'The Musketeers', as Gemma.
Completing the ensemble are Barney White as Brandon, Jackie Clune as Annette, Janine Duvitski as Gloria, and Tanya Moodie taking on the role of Yvonne.

When is The Couple Next Door on?
The first episode of The Couple Next Door will kick off at 9pm and is set to entertain viewers for a full hour until 10pm.
Wondering how many episodes are in The Couple Next Door? Here's the lowdown on the episode schedule:

Episode 1 - July 14.
Episode 2 - July 15.
Episode 3 - July 16.

Episode 4 - July 21.
Episode 5 - July 22.
Episode 6 - July 23.

Catch-up will be a breeze as the episodes will also be up for grabs on Channel 4's streaming service.
Channel 4 witnessed its biggest scripted streaming debut with the first season of The Couple Next Door, as the opening episode racked up over a million streams within just seven days.
Season two's official synopsis teases: "Leo's return sparks a change in Charlotte and Mia seizes the opportunity to work her way into Jacob and Charlotte's confidence, their street, and eventually even their bed, befriending cul-de-sac outcast Alan (Hugh Dennis) along the way.
"But it's not long before Mia's past comes back to haunt her, leading Charlotte and Jacob to question who she really is, especially when patients at the hospital start mysteriously dying. One thing is clear - giving in to their desires could have deadly consequences."
Tune in for The Couple Next Door season 2, premiering on July 14 on Channel 4.

Channel 4 insist they are 'proud' to show Bonnie Blue documentary

Bonnie Blue at the launch of her Channel 4 documentary (Image: Edward Ed Gleave) Channel 4 has defended the decision to make a documentary about online porn star Bonnie Blue - insisting it is 'proud' of the film and that is wants to 'stimulate debate". Viewers tuning in to watch 1000 Men and Me: The Bonnie Blue Story this week will receive an on air warning about the content before the documentary airs at 10pm. It features multiple scenes of graphic sex not normally seen on TV. Tia Billinger uses the stage name Bonnie Blue and invites men to have sex with her which she films and makes money from online. She is also known for angering and abusing other women online, including by suggesting she likes to sleep with married men. In January she caused social media outrage by announcing she'd slept with 1,057 men in 12 hours. Channel 4 insist they are 'proud' to show Bonnie Blue documentary (Image: Instagram/bonnie_blue_xo) The Channel 4 documentary's crew and director rarely question her about the abuse she gives to other women and her financial claims of earning millions each month also go unquestioned or unproven on screen. She also uses other younger girls to make one film and they say they are not being paid, despite the fact Tia would make thousands from the film. Aside from Tia expressing some fears about walking in public alone, the tone is largely celebratory. Asked about their decision to broadcast the documentary, Channel 4 told the Mirror: 'Tia Billinger, via her stage name Bonnie Blue, has gained worldwide attention and millions of pounds in the last year. 1000 Men and Me: The Bonnie Blue Story is an observational documentary in which director Victoria Silver follows Tia over the course of six months. The film questions Tia's methods and the divisive style of her social media and hears from colleagues and collaborators in order to understand her polarising business model. "Part of Channel 4's remit is to reflect modern Britain and stimulate debate amongst viewers, and a film such as this, exploring changing attitudes to sex, success, porn, and feminism in an ever-evolving online world is an important addition to those conversations. 'Channel 4 has a track record of programmes that examine the porn industry from a variety of perspectives. In the last two years we have broadcast programmes such as Sex Actually with Alice Levine that looked at a range of sexual experiences, while OnlyFans Got Me Fired: Untold and Confessions of a Cam Girl showed the personal cost of porn for content creators.' They also insisted the sections of the documentary showing Bonnie having sex multiple times across the documentary was necessary. They added: 'Careful consideration has been given to the content and the way in which it is included. The explicit content in the documentary is editorially justified and provides essential context; making pornographic content is Bonnie's job, and this film is about her work and the response to it. Crucially, the content is presented in a non-gratuitous manner and viewers will be alerted of the sexual content in a programme warning at the start to ensure they understand from the outset the nature of the programme.' Journalists were shown the film at a screening at Channel 4 last week attended by Tia, where even she expressed surprise at how many sex scenes 'were in there'. Introducing the film, Commissioning Editor Tim Hancock said before the screening: 'I believe it is Channel 4's job to tell stories like this, trying to get behind the truth of the headlines. We film real stories in real time. We are very proud to do films like this.' Asked why there was so much porn in the documentary and if she was braced for complaints, director Victoria Silver said: 'I had to explain to her(Tia) if I was making a film about a musician or some kind of other performer their work would be in there. I think it is important to see what she does.' * 1000 Men and Me: The Bonnie Blue Story is on Channel 4 on Tuesday night at 10pm.

TV tonight: Japan's kamikaze pilots and why they were impelled to sacrifice themselves

9pm, BBC FourIt is still absolutely shocking to see footage of the kamikaze attacks that Japan operated for 10 months at the end of the second world war. Nearly 4,000 Japanese pilots died this way and 7,000 allied military personnel were killed. Why did they push this strategy? And why were people so willing to do it? Takayuki Oshima's monumental film uses 15 years of research and interviews with witnesses, family members and former pilots to explore this massive system of suicide attack. More from this excellent origin story, as Ella Al-Shamahi makes the case that our much-maligned forebears were far from the knuckle-draggers of popular myth. Simon Cowell's pal Lucy Spraggan reveals he also considered signing up for SAS: Who Dares Wins but she had to warn him off tough series due to health concerns

Simon Cowell 's close pal Lucy Spraggan says the music mogul considered signing up for Channel 4 's SAS: Who Dares Wins - but she told him he has 'no chance'. The former X Factor frontman may live a life of luxury, but it seems he wanted to show just how tough he is. Simon, 65, was pleased to hear that Lucy had been in talks for the series, where it puts celebs through their paces as they take on different intense challenges. Lucy - who has grown close to Simon since starring on The X Factor in 2012 - said how the entertainment mogul thought it would be a 'great idea' for her to do the show as she loves being outdoors and they often enjoy shooting air rifles together. And he was so thrilled for her that he reportedly said he'll 'maybe try and have a go at it'. Lucy told The Sun: 'I was like, "You would literally die!" It was funny because it really contextualised how hard it was that I just straight away said to him, "You would have no chance".' The new series of SAS: Who Dares Wins, which begins next Sunday at 9pm, sees Simon give Lucy a pep talk, but it doesn't end well. Her friendship with Simon is better than ever, and last year he even walked her down the aisle during her star-studded wedding to girlfriend Emilia Smith. 'It was really strange,' Lucy laughed. 'It's a high stress environment and I looked to the side and saw him, like this is weird! 'But he was here and Lauren [Silverman] was there.' In recent months, Simon has been working on launching a new talent show. The show titled The Next Act follows Cowell on a mission to find the next global boyband in the vein of One Direction, and is due to stream on Netflix in the coming months. While Netflix is yet to commission the second series, it is thought he is keen to capitalise on the buzz and is already eyeing a second series - this time focusing on up-and-coming girl groups. A source told the publication: 'There's huge amount of excitement around the boyband search show dropping on Netflix, which is expected to drop later this year. 'So it makes sense to consider a sequel with a similar concept but looking for the female equivalent. 'And if anyone can do it, it's Simon. After all, through One Direction and Little Mix, he helped deliver two of the biggest pop acts of the last two decades.' The Next Act is thought to air over six episodes, where viewers will see nationwide open auditions, exclusive behind-the-scenes access and the release of the group's debut single.
