SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — KCAU 9 is celebrating the graduating high school seniors who are the top of their class.
More than 100 seniors gathered at the Orpheum Theatre on Thursday for KCAU 9's Best of the Class. KCAU 9 started the program in 1983 to recognize Siouxland students' academic excellence. This is the 42nd year that KCAU 9 has brought all of Siouxland's high school valedictorians together for a special sendoff.

While at the Orpheum, the students took part in the taping of specially produced senior salutes that will air on KCAU 9 over the coming weeks. They were treated to lunch with a speaker afterward. This year's keynote speaker is Corey Westra, the commissioner of the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
In the afternoon, there was a special group video of the students forming a '25 as they toss their caps to celebrate their graduation year.
We'll have more on this story later tonight.
