Police form teams to check illegal cattle transportation
The teams include Timmesh BN, Naveen Borakar, PSIs of Baindur station, Vinay, PSI, Kollur station, Basavaraj, PSI, Gangolli station, and staff members Nagendra, Mohan, Suresh, Chetan, Jayaram, Satish, Chidanand, Malappa Desai, Sridhar Patil, and Parayya Mathapati.
In connection with a crime reported at Byndoor police station under Section 303(2) of BNS and 4, 5, 7, 12 of the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020, and Section 11(1)(D) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960, the team arrested the accused. The SP said Mohammad Kaif from Sasthan and Mohammad Suhail Khadar from Uchila Kapu, were arrested and presented before a court. The vehicles, including three cars, used in the theft and transportation, were seized.
Additionally, four cattle transported in these vehicles were rescued and sent to a shelter, he said.

In his FIR, Pandey, a retired health department employee, alleged that his grandson Shouvik and his friend Kushal were outside their Sector-I residence when the accused drove towards them 'with the intention to kill.' He claimed the car rammed through the lane gate, injuring both boys. Shouvik sustained a fractured collarbone and rib injuries and remained in the ICU for three days, Pandey told police in his complaint. The family alleged the accused did not visit the hospital and threatened them when confronted. 'They called us to their house, where several men tried to snatch the CCTV video and even blamed the child,' the FIR stated.

Bengaluru: RTO officer lodges sexual harassment plaint against senior; accused alleges conspiracy
A 47-year-old motor vehicle inspector working in Nelamangala Regional Transport office has filed a sexual harassment complaint against her senior, who is the acting in-charge officer. The accused identified as Rajkumar , has been booked by the Madanayakanahalli police on Monday under Section 75 (Sexual harassment) of BNS. The victim, in her complaint, said that the Rajkumar used to force her to remove her jacket and allegedly told her to 'cooperate' to get the duty of her choice. Reacting to the complaint, Rajkumar alleged that this was a conspiracy by her and other staff members against him. He alleged that the complainant who is on her probation was wearing additional stars on her shoulder strap along with other officers, which is against the rules. 'I told them to follow the rules and they started wearing jackets to hide this. They were absent for the Independence Day celebration which was compulsory and I took objection. The officer was not wearing the uniform which is mandatory. I asked them to follow the protocol and respect rules ,' he told the media. 'The officerwanted duty on specific post and with a specific drive. I told her that that she needs to follow the rules and no privileges will be given. In order to take revenge, she along with others conspired this and filed a complaint,' Mr. Rajkumar said.

Assam Crime Branch issues summons to journalists Siddharth Varadarajan, Karan Thapar
On a day the Supreme Court granted interim protection from arrest to journalist and The Wire editor Siddharth Varadarajan in a case lodged by the Assam police over an article on Operation Sindoor, the Crime Branch of the police in Guwahati issued summons to him and another senior journalist from the news portal, Karan Thapar. On August 12, a Supreme Court bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi granted the interim protection from arrest to Varadarajan in a case lodged by the Morigaon district police under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with acts 'endangering sovereignty, unity and integrity of India.' The same day, the Crime Branch of the Assam Police in Guwahati issued separate summons to Varadarajan and Thapar in connection with an FIR registered at the Crime Branch police station in Guwahati, directing them to appear at the police station on August 22. While the summons do not contain details of the case against them, it mentions that this too has been registered under Section 152, along with other sections of the BNS pertaining to promoting enmity between different groups; publishing false or misleading information jeopardising the sovereignty unity and integrity or security of India; statements conducing to public mischief; and criminal conspiracy. The Indian Express contacted the Joint Commissioner of Police Guwahati, Ankur Jain, and DCP Crime Guwahati, but they did not share details of the complaint(s) based on which the FIR has been registered. Varadajan said that they filed a petition before the Supreme Court on Monday night. 'We have replied to the inspector who issued the summons both via speed post and WhatsApp, saying that his summons is bad in law because it does not contain a copy of the FIR, no details of what it is we are accused of doing, it doesn't even have the date of the FIR. We also reminded him that we had already moved the Supreme Court over an earlier FIR,' he told The Indian Express. In the written response to the inspector, he has requested a copy of the FIR 'before proceeding any further in this matter'. 'In the meanwhile, I am happy to assist the investigation in accordance with the procedure established by law, and you may also question me virtually or in Delhi (my home town and place of residence) if I am provided a copy of the FIR beforehand,' states the letter.
