Indy's WWE Royal Rumble will be the greatest day of my life
Many parents talk about the fulfillment and joy they feel holding their child for the first time. The sense of relief and love that washes over, a feeling they never knew nor could expect. That sounds pretty good.
But have those people ever seen CM Punk lay the Go to Sleep on Drew McIntyre in front of 65,000 delirious members of the WWE universe during the Royal Rumble in Lucas Oil Stadium?
Though parenthood is beautiful and challenging, it is hardly unique. A lot of people have had kids, including, probably, your parents. Look how that turned out!
The Royal Rumble in Indianapolis is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the greatest sports entertainers practice their craft at the highest level. People are going to jump off stuff, do body slams and probably throw someone through a table. Babies cannot and should not do that. Leave it to the pros, babies.
Time to come clean: I've never experienced the joys or the sorrows of parenthood. I have a cat who throws up on the couch sometimes. It's not comparable.

However, I have gotten married. I've achieved some degree of professional and personal success. I've seen friends overcome hardship, my wife learn to walk after a surgery (it was for bunions, but still) and my cat not throw up on the couch. I have been lucky to see both the natural splendor of the Rocky Mountains and the transcendental beauty of Notre Dame Cathedral.
I have lived a full and very lucky life.
That said.
None of that will be able to touch the thrill of seeing John Cena run to the ring in a pair of ill-fitting jorts and doing the 'You Can't See Me' thing to Sami Zayn, probably. What if Rhea Ripley Rip Tides somebody like Dirty Dom into a big chicken nugget? What if new lucha superstar Penta (short for Pentagon Jr., honest to God) jumps off something super high and does a big flip? Can you imagine how exhilarating that will be?
I can. And I have.
In a few short days, I will be trembling with excitement inside of Lucas Oil Stadium. I will be transported by the buff men and women of WWE outside of myself, outside of the comparatively mundane existence that I've called life.
My only question, my only fear, is what will life look like on Sunday morning? After the confetti has fallen, after the ring is packed up, after the lights turn off and the Rumble has Royaled?

WWE legend Kevin Nash feels like, nowadays, wrestlers don't really sell moves as much as they used to during his days. Instead, he says they 'register' moves in the ring. Speaking during a recent episode of Kliq This TV (via Wrestling Inc.), Nash said that there is a difference between 'selling' a move and 'registering' one. To Nash, the difference is major when performing in front of a live audience. Advertisement 'What I've I'm noticing more and more is nobody sells. Everybody registers,' Nash said. 'They register what's happening to them, but then it's a turnaround, and it's like, nobody sells. Registering is like this [a brief reaction], where selling is like, you're in trouble, you know? Like you're curling up in a ball.' Nash reflected on a past match with Diamond Dallas Page for an example as to what he meant. 'I can remember a specific time when I was working with Dallas, and I would do something.' said Nash. 'I'd cut him off, and I would just tell him, 'just sell till I come back to you.'' That doesn't mean everyone isn't doing this, though. Nash recently praised a match between AJ Styles and Finn Balor as one where both were performing well. Advertisement 'I thought that was an excellent match. I really enjoyed watching that…there was, there was times when they register and times when they sell.' Nash called Rhea Ripley one of the most impressive stars in today's wrestling scene. He also compared Ripley's aura to that of Hulk Hogan. The final preliminary bout of UFC on ESPN 69 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta produced a strange outcome. In the final seconds of the opening round, Bellato (12-2-1 MMA, 1-0-1 UFC) attempted to land heavy ground and pound on Craig (17-9-1 MMA, 9-9-1 UFC) to leave a lasting impression for the judges. However, Bellato fell to a knee, and Craig connected with an illegal upkick, resulting in a no contest. Bellato immediately looked toward the referee and threw his hands up as he was falling backward. Once Bellato hit the canvas, he remained motionless for a few seconds as if he was knocked out, before jumping back awake, seemingly believing the fight was still going on as the referee tried to get him to relax. Smith wasn't buying it. "Listen, guys: I'm going to be hard on Bellato: As the upkick happens, he looks to the referee to see if the referee realized that was illegal," Smith said on the UFC post-fight show. "... You see his eyes come to the referee to protest, and then realizes, 'Maybe I can get a free win.' Lays there, pretends he's unconscious, jolts back awake, allegedly. The referee comes over. That is a man that is awake. Pretends to grapple the referee as if he's unconscious, trying to get a cheap win. I've been doing this a long time, and I know what it looks like when somebody is faking it." Hellie added, "This is WWE level stuff." "Wonderboy" Thompson labeled Bellato's reaction as an "Oscar performance." While his desk partners only offered short one-liners, Smith, who famously refused to take an easy way out when Jon Jones landed an illegal knee during their title fight at UFC 235, wasn't finished going in on the Brazilian light heavyweight and the situation as a whole. "I feel really bad for Paul Craig," Smith said. "We're laughing about it and joking because it is so silly what happened here with Rodolfo Bellato and Paul Craig, but Paul Craig, although he did break the rules – we have to acknowledge that he did break the rules. It wasn't intentional, but that's a fight that seemingly could have continued. I'm not gonna pretend I'm in his head and I know how bad it actually did hurt, he definitely was not unconscious and hurt as bad as he was pretending, that's for sure."

On the latest episode of The Hall of Fame Podcast, NXT commentator Booker T spoke about WWE bringing back R-Truth, who is now going by the name Ron Killings. Booker predicts the company could make a big move by making him the World Heavyweight Champion. Advertisement 'You know what I see?
