US Offers $5 Million Reward for Capture of Haitian Gang Leader 'Barbecue'

By Ahmad El-Assasy
The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs has announced a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of Haitian gang leader Jimmy Cherizier, known as 'Barbecue.'
The reward is issued under the Transnational Organized Crime Rewards Program (TOCRP) and applies to information leading to his capture in any country. Cherizier heads the violent gang coalition Viv Ansanm, which the U.S. designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization and Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) on May 2, 2025.
Accused of Mass Atrocities in Haiti
Cherizier has been identified as a central figure in Haiti's spiraling gang violence, accused of mass killings, sexual violence, and widespread terror against civilians. In December 2020, the U.S. sanctioned him and two Haitian officials under the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act for their roles in the La Saline massacre and other severe human rights abuses.
Criminal Charges in the United States
The announcement follows the U.S. Department of Justice unsealing an indictment in the District of Columbia, charging Cherizier with conspiracy to violate U.S. sanctions under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). The charges relate to his alleged evasion of sanctions imposed in 2020.
His co-defendant, Brazile Richardson, appeared in federal court in Washington, D.C., earlier today.
Part of Global Anti-Crime Efforts
The TOCRP supports global law enforcement in dismantling transnational criminal networks and bringing fugitives to justice. U.S. authorities are urging anyone with credible information on Cherizier's whereabouts to come forward.

20 Civilians Killed in Niger Gang Massacre

Israa Farhan At least 20 civilians were killed in a massacre carried out by armed gangs in western Niger, according to local sources on Saturday. The attack took place on Thursday near the gold mining area of Koumbango in Tillabéri region, where terrorist groups are highly active. The victims, travelling on a truck from the town of Mehanna, were ambushed by the assailants. Witnesses reported that the attackers forced all passengers out of the vehicle before separating 19 men, executing them with gunfire, and then killing the driver. The truck was later set on fire. Two women survived the assault, while two other passengers managed to escape. Local outlet Niger Scoop confirmed the death toll, reporting that about 20 people lost their lives in the massacre. The Tillabéri region lies within the border triangle between Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali, an area long plagued by violence from armed groups linked to al-Qaeda and ISIS. Niger continues to face escalating insecurity as extremist groups target civilians in rural areas. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated

Seattle Jewelry Store Robbed of $2 Mln in 90-Second Heist

Israa Farhan Police in Seattle reported on Friday that a group of thieves stole an estimated $2 million's worth of diamonds, luxury watches, gold, and other valuables in a daring midday robbery that lasted less than 90 seconds. CCTV footage from the shop in West Seattle showed four masked suspects smashing the locked glass front door with hammers before looting six display cases on Thursday. One of the showcases contained Rolex watches valued at 750,000 dollars, according to police. During the raid, one suspect threatened staff with bear spray and a stun gun, though no injuries were reported. Josh Minash, vice president of the family-owned store, said staff were left shocked by the robbery and confirmed the business would remain closed temporarily. Employees have since cleaned up the shattered glass and are assessing the full extent of the losses. Police said they responded quickly to reports of the theft, but the suspects had already fled the scene in a getaway vehicle. A search of the surrounding area failed to locate them, and the investigation remains ongoing. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated

French Police Seize 1.3 Tons of Cocaine Worth €30 Mln

Israa Farhan French police have intercepted 1.3 tons of cocaine valued at around €30 million (£25 million) in what Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau described as an unprecedented drug bust. The cocaine was concealed in wooden crates and discovered during a routine inspection of a lorry travelling from Spain on a motorway near Bordeaux. Authorities confirmed that the seizure formed part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking. The operation was carried out in close cooperation with Spanish police after investigators received confidential intelligence regarding a possible smuggling attempt. Following the tip-off, the lorry was subjected to detailed checks, which led to the discovery of the narcotics. Police sources told BFM TV that investigators had been monitoring the vehicle due to suspicious journeys between Spain and Northern Europe. Authorities believe the seizure highlights the growing influx of large cocaine shipments into Europe via Portugal and southern Spain. Officials view the operation as a significant blow to the drug trafficking networks operating across the continent. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated
