Homes Under the Hammer star admits 'I have failed' in sad announcement
Homes Under the Hammer star Martin Roberts has been facing huge setbacks on his new project.
Homes Under the Hammer presenter Martin Roberts confessed to a crushing defeat in his latest endeavour, stating he has "failed on every single level".
He is currently attempting to transform a rural Welsh pub, the Hendrewen Hotel in the Rhondda Valley, into a tourist attraction.

However, two years into the project, the building remains in a dire state, with the rear of the property crumbling.

Initially, Martin estimated the renovation would take two years and £500,000 to complete, but he has since faced numerous setbacks with the eight-bedroom property.
In an interview with The Sun, the 61-year-old explained: "I'm still smiling but, oh my word, what a challenge it's been."

Martin admitted that this is his first commercial property renovation, and the process has been far more complicated than his previous residential projects.
He believes he is approximately 60% of the way through the renovation, and is hopeful that the final stages will progress quickly, with the aim of opening the property by next Easter.
However, the star is currently navigating the complexities of planning permissions due to the risk of flooding in the area, reports the Express.

Martin described the numerous hurdles he is facing, stating there are "lots of hoops to jump through". When he first purchased the property, it was in a state of disrepair, with "cock-eyed" walls, "every single window falling down", and bats nesting in the leaky roof.
Notably, Martin did not even inform his wife Kirsty that he had bought the derelict pub while he was recovering from a heart operation in Wales.

The pub will be the focus of a ten-part ITV documentary series next year, titled Oops! I Bought A Pub.

Taking inspiration from Jeremy Clarkson, there are plans to suspend a Rolls-Royce upside down from the ceiling in the dining room, mirroring Jeremy's pub The Farmer's Dog which has a chrome tractor suspended from its roof.

The establishment's eight bedrooms will be available for guests, each named after TV shows and designed with a unique feel. There are also plans for a new bar and restaurant within the property.
The pub aims to employ around 30 local individuals, and will feature a teaching kitchen where celebrity chefs can impart their knowledge to the younger generation.
Additionally, it will include a stage area for aspiring musicians to showcase their talent.

Love Island announces surprise recoupling as fans predict things will get 'very messy' after juicy spin the bottle challenge

Love Island has announced a shock recoupling as reeling fans predict things will get 'very messy' following the outcome. The latest episode of the ITV dating show aired on Sunday night as the islanders were gathered around the fire pit. Just before the credits rolled on another attention-grabbing episode, a text was sent into the TV villa by bosses. It read: 'Islanders, tonight there will be a recoupling in which the girls will choose which boy they want to couple up with.' A further text message said: 'Boys, please stand in front of the firepit.' The tension was palpable as the girls started to consider their options, while the boys nervously gathered. Following the shock news, Love Island fans have flooded social media as they speculated on the results which will air on Monday's episode. One viewer said: 'This recoupling is about to be so f***ing messy because if Helena goes first then Toni can't pick Harrison.' A second wrote: 'Noooo, that recoupling is going to be juicy.' 'It shouldn't have ended on a cliffhanger but probably means the aftermath of recoupling is chaos,' said a third fan. Meanwhile, the dramatic ending comes after a game of Spin The Bottle saw the villa descend into chaos. In the game, whoever the spinning bottle landed on had take a card which read either truth or dare. It was up to the Islanders to get creative and think about a truth or dare for that specific person. Helena landed on a dare and Dejon dared her to kiss the person that she'd chose to recouple with, she kissed Harrison, little surprise after she broke things off with Harry. Up next was Megan, who pulls a truth card, leading Harry to ask how she genuinely feels about Conor. She told the group: 'Me and Conor got on from the start and that got cut short so I feel like there's unfinished business there, as you would say [Harry]'. Elsewhere, fans were convinced one singleton had 'gone missing' and asked if they'd left the villa over their lack of screentime. Alima Gagigo, 23, has seemingly been absent from the drama in recent days as her fellow villa residents lap up the spotlight. Unimpressed fans took to X following the latest show as they begged bosses to feature more of Alima, with one calming she'd not actually spoken on screen for the last two episodes. They fumed: 'Is Alima still in the villa?': 'Alima got 5 seconds of screen time and we are halfway through this episode': '2 episodes and I've not heard Alima's voice': 'Can we see Alima please': 'Wait where is Alima'.

Maya Jama makes embarrassing blunder live on Love Island: Aftersun after suffering wardrobe malfunction

MAYA Jama made multiple blunders live on the most recent episode of Love Island: Aftersun. The fan-favourite presenter took to the airwaves to present the ITV2 spin-off show. 5 5 5 As host of Love Island, Maya Jama, 30, also fronts the accompanying studio show. She was chatting to former contestant Amy Hart, influence Ash Holme and superfan Sam Thompson about the drama. However, she suffered from a wardrobe malfunction after getting a little too excited. Maya flaunted her slim figure in a skin tight backless off the shoulder dress as her hair was styled into subtle waves. However, one of her shell earrings fell out of her earlobe, which seemed to have left her scrambling. She attempted to move the conversation to a new set of islanders as she declared" "Onto Helena and Harry now." But turning away from the panel, she gasped: "Oops, lost an earring". The director was forced to cut to a wide shot of the studio instead of the usual closeup as she tried to find the accessory on the sofa. Later the presenter made a second blunder when she seemed to mispronounce the name of one of the contestants. Malisha Jordan was previously dumped by bombshell Harrison Solomon on the long-running dating show. Maya Jama's boyfriend Ruben Dias flies out to Love Island to take her on romantic date When referring to her eviction, Maya Jama accidently referred to the star as one of the contestants who was still in the villa. During that introduction to the segment, instead of saying the correct name Malisha, she accidentally called her Alima. Before Malisha was welcomed into the studio, Maya enthusiastically said: "Let's welcome our bombshell, queen Alima ... Malisha!" The star waved her arms up in the air in frustration after she immediately corrected the slip up. Some fans of Love Island were left somewhat confused as they took to social media after the blunder. One fan jokingly remarked: "Not Maya evicting Alima ?" 5 5

Legendary BBC presenter quietly bows out after almost 50 years of TV hosting

BBC and ITV sports presenting icon Steve Ryder gave his last broadcast on Sunday as he presented the British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park for ITV4 Sports presenter Steve Ryder has announced his retirement from broadcasting after an impressive 48-year career. The 75-year-old covered major sporting fixtures for both the BBC and ITV over the course of his time on the air. On Sunday, the star was broadcasting from the British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park in Cheshire when he revealed he would be hanging up his microphone. He was covering the event for ITV4 when he announced the news of his departure from the screen. ‌ A montage of clips was then shared showing drivers including Lando Norris, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Jenson Button and David Coulthard all bidding farewell to the broadcaster. Over the years, he has hosted Sportsnight and Sports Personality of the Year, as well as the BBC's coverage of every Olympic Games between 1988 and 2004. ‌ He departed the BBC in 2005 and joined ITV where he presented coverage of Formula One, as well as the football and rugby World Cups. His final appearance proved to be a muted exit, but he has previously explained why he decided the time had come to quit. He told the Daily Mail: "The biggest emotion as you get into the last two minutes of something like that is, 'For God's sake, don't c**k it up.' "Because you'd be thinking about that for the next 20 years. I've probably outstayed my welcome. I've been hugely lucky with the places that the career has taken me. But it's close to 50 years now, so the cracks are showing." Steve famously used to present Match of the Day and was left miffed when he was replaced by Gary Lineker as the main host - admitting he had cut the former footballer out of his life. The beef began when Gary said in 2015 that he though the R&A as 'pompous' and accused them of feeling like 'superior beings'. This, in turn, provoked a furious reaction from Steve. ‌ He told the Golf Paper: "I hold Gary Lineker in the highest regard as a football presenter, but his reflections on his experiences as a golf presenter need a huge reality check. For four years, the R&A and most other observers knew that Gary was the wrong man in the wrong job. Hazel Irvine has just delivered once again at the Open presentation skills of the highest quality. Not many people can do that and Gary certainly came up short. "Roger Mosey, the head of sport, knew Gary was a golf fanatic and was further encouraged by Gary apparently volunteering for the Masters vacancy within a few minutes of my exit from Television Centre. ‌ "But if Mosey thought long and hard before offering Gary the golf job, it's even more baffling. Match of the Day is scripted and rehearsed. Golf presentation, especially at Augusta, is seat of the pants, unpredictable and demanding." Away from sport, Steve also won praise for being open about a battle against prostate cancer after he was diagnosed with the disease in October 2023. He underwent emergency surgery which stopped the cancer from spreading. He previously told BBC Breakfast: "They took one look and said, 'We're going to operate in two weeks'. "No messing around. We did Brands Hatch for ITV on the Sunday and I had the operation on the Thursday. So it slotted into the schedule quite nicely!"
