Nigerian student denies biting cop's ear
KUALA LUMPUR: A Nigerian private college student pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court here to voluntarily causing grievous hurt to a policeman by biting off part of his left ear last week.
Okenyehike Kelvin Obianke, 38, was charged with committing the offence on Corporal Danierul Azraq Ahmad Khair, 36, in front of a clinic in Metro Prima, Kepong, near here, at 10.10am on April 25.
The charge, framed under Section 325 of the Penal Code, provides imprisonment for up to seven years and a fine if convicted.
Magistrate S. Mageswary did not allow the accused, who was unrepresented, bail and set June 10 for mention, Bernama reported.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Farhana Mohamad Poad appeared for the prosecution in the case.
Meanwhile, in another court, Obianke pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed @ Mohamad Saim to a charge of entering Malaysia without valid travel documents.
He was charged under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
The Nigerian student faces a maximum fine of RM10,000 or imprisonment of not more than five years or both, if convicted of the offence.
He also pleaded not guilty to self-administration of a drug by injecting Benzo (Nimetazepam) into his body at the toilet of the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division Office of the Sentul police headquarters at 3am on April 26.
The charge, under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, provides a maximum fine of RM5,000 or imprisonment of not more than two years, upon conviction.
No bail was allowed for Obianke, and the court set July 23 for mention.
For this case, deputy public prosecutor Nurainizatul Farhana Zainal appeared for the prosecution.

MELAKA: Police have dismantled a theft syndicate known as 'Susu Borneo' with the arrest of four members, including a woman, for stealing infant formula and powdered coffee worth RM12,600. The suspects were apprehended at a rented condominium in Kuala Lumpur in the early hours of Aug 10 following reports of thefts in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, and Pahang. The syndicate disguised themselves as customers, with the female suspect hiding stolen items in her clothes while male accomplices acted as lookouts. Investigations revealed the Sabah-based syndicate had been active since 2011 and committed 12 thefts in the week before their arrest. Three suspects had prior criminal records involving drug offences, theft, and causing injury. Suhaimi Abdullah, 37, from Taman Gilbert here made the plea before Magistrate Ashok Linggam after the charge under Section 324 of the Penal Code was read to him. The Section provides for imprisonment of up to 10 years or a fine or whipping, or any two of the punishment, upon conviction. Suhaimi was charged with intentionally causing injury to a Chinese national using a cane at a restaurant on Jalan Sim Cheng Key here at around 1am on Aug 1, 2025. The court fixed Sept 11 for case management and granted the accused bail of RM2,500 with two local sureties. In a separate case in the same courtroom, a 35-year-old woman from Sarikei claimed trial to a charge of possessing methamphetamine. The charge against Uta Seripa was framed under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 12(3) of the same Act. She allegedly committed the offence in front of a public toilet on Jalan Cynthula here at about 2.50pm on Aug 11, 2025 by having in her possession 0.65g of methamphetamine. If convicted, Uta could be fined up to RM100,000 or imprisoned for a term not exceeding five years, or both. Magistrate Ashok set Sept 29 for case management and set bail at RM2,000 with two local sureties. Businessman remanded in RM3.8m Negeri Sembilan land fraud case
SEREMBAN: A businessman has been remanded for seven days in connection with a suspected fraudulent land sale worth RM3.8 million in Mukim Lenggeng. The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission secured the remand order from Magistrate Saiful Sayoti, effective until August 20. The suspect, in his 40s, was arrested late last night after arriving to give a statement at the Negeri Sembilan MACC office. Investigators believe he conspired with another suspect to use falsified documents for financial gain from the September 2022 transaction. This follows an earlier three-day remand extension for the primary suspect, a land broker also in his 40s.
