EastEnders dominates British Soap Awards with eight prizes
The ceremony, hosted at Hackney Empire in London by singer Jane McDonald, saw stars from the biggest soaps in the country go head to head for best scenes, performances and storylines.
The BBC show took home the highly anticipated award for best British soap with the trophy presented by Only Fools and Horses actor Sir David Jason.
Steve McFadden, who plays Phil Mitchell, took home the award for Best Dramatic Performance and EastEnders also claimed the award for Best Single Episode for Phil's Psychosis which saw him hallucinate scenes from the Mitchell family home in 1985.
Eastenders won Scene Of The Year for Angie Watts' shock return as a ghost during its 40th anniversary episode.
Navin Chowdhry took home the Villain of the Year award for his portrayal of Nish Panesar, the calculating manipulative husband to Suki Panesar, played by Balvinder Sopal, who was killed by his son after being pushed off a balcony.
Eastenders' Patsy Palmer, who plays Bianca Jackson, took home Best Comedy performance while Lacey Turner claimed Best Leading Performer for her portrayal of Stacey Slater.
Best On-Screen Partnership was won by Rudolph Walker, who plays Patrick Trueman and Angela Wynter, who plays his ex-wife Yolande Trueman.
Hollyoaks took home three awards including Best Newcomer for Isabelle Smith who plays Frankie Osborne, the daughter of Suzanne Ashworth and Darren Osborne and twin sister of JJ Osborne.
The Channel 4 soap won Best Storyline for raising the issue of sibling sexual abuse and the Osbornes were named Best Family.
ITV's Emmerdale won Best Young Performer for 16-year old Amelia Flanagan who plays April Windsor, the half-sister of Leo Goskirk and daughter of police officer Donna Windsor and chef Marlon Dingle.
The Tony Warren Award went to Emmerdale's Mike Plant.
Coronation Street took home only one prize with an outstanding achievement award for David Neilson, cafe owner Roy Cropper, who joined the show nearly three decades ago.
The award was presented by Julie Hesmondhalgh who played Roy's late wife Hayley Cropper.
Among the stars on the red carpet on Saturday evening were Hollyoaks actress Jorgi Porter and Coronation Street's Tina O'Brien who had chosen the the same dress.
The awards will air at 8pm on Thursday June 5 on ITV1 and ITVX.

'If you truly love this thing, and you love this craft and love pursuing what it does to your spirit, how can you put, like, a metric on anything else past that? Ryder also said that those taking part deserve 'respect', and he was sending them 'loads of love', while being on the road during the contest last month. Ryder, wearing a Dolly Parton T-shirt on This Morning, also said that he has put down 'roots' in Nashville, which is associated with the country singer. He added: 'It's been a dream for a long time (to move there) and, but I didn't realise… finishing the album, my studio's here in the UK, so (I had) to come straight back and get the album done, so the problem is I've had zero sleep.' Ryder, from Essex, began as a TikTok star. He signed to the Parlophone record label, part of Warner Music Group, and released his debut EP, The Sun's Gonna Rise, in 2021, before going to Eurovision in 2022. He was nominated for an Emmy for his Ted Lasso single, Fought & Lost, which he co-wrote for the hit Apple TV+ comedy. He has released new music including a Christmas single, You're Christmas To Me, which reached number two in the charts and a number one album titled There's Nothing But Space, Man!

Popular BBC series to return to TV as huge cast changes are confirmed
Another trip to Port Devine is on the horizon, with BBC confirming the return of Hope Street for a fifth series – which will include the milestone 50th episode. The BBC One daytime drama, which has proven incredibly popular with viewers in the UK, the US and beyond, follows the local police department and residents of fictional Northern Irish town Port Devine. Filmed in Donaghadee on Northern Ireland's coastline, Hope Street has enjoyed four successful series, which – in addition to the episodic crime stories – all have had their own unique identity. The first centred on the arrival of the Leila Hussain (Amara Karan), whose presence got everyone talking, while the second saw corrupt detective Al Quinn (Stephen Hagan) join the police force The third series saw Hollyoaks star Karen Hassan join the show as Jo Lipton, while the fourth, which Metro deemed the show's best to date, saw some major cast changes take place, with a new inspector in the form of Derry Girls' Tara-Lynne O'Neill. It's been quite some time since the latest season concluded and fans were left wondering about the show's future but I am pleased to report that Hope Street will return. Filming is imminently set to commence in Donaghadee for the fifth series, which will feature the milestone 50th episode. Fan-favourites Kerri Quinn (Marleen Pettigrew), Niamh McGrady (Nicole Devine-Dunwoody), Aaron McCusker (Clint Devine-Dunwoody), Finnian Garbutt (Ryan Power), Tara Lynne O'Neill (Eve Dunlop) will all return. Also returning are last season's favourites, Eleanor Methven (Lois Dunlop), Paddy Jenkins (Seamie McCarthy), Katie Shortt (Brandi McClure), Marcus Onilude (Luke Jackson), RhéAna Kamalu (Chloe Jackson) and Jonny Grogan (Ross Dunlop). This season appears to be the first without Callum McCarthy star Niall Wright, who recently joined the cast of Channel 4's A Woman Of Substance remake. Much like the previous years, Series 5 of Hope Street will bring along some new faces, with Krypton star Cameron Cuffe joining the cast as Constable Donal Gallagher. A well-known local rugby player, Donal is confident and charming but his career was cut short by an injury. As the newest member of the Port Devine police department, however, he has found a new zest for life – and will soon make his mark in Port Devine. Donal isn't the only newcomer, with The Lovers star Jenn Murray joining the cast as Doctor Sasha Cookson. Sasha, who has taken over her father's GP surgery, is direct, straight-talking and she wastes little time in rubbing up some of the locals the wrong way. Donal, however, finds such a thing rather charming – and it's not long before sparks begin to fly between the two.
