The WNBA All-Star Weekend took place in Indianapolis, Indiana, to rave reviews.
While Caitlin Clark was unable to play in the game - or take part in the 3-Point Contest - thousands of fans still flocked to Indianapolis for the special weekend. The 3-Point Contest was won by Sabrina Ionescu, the players wore "Pay Us What You Owe Us" T-shirts before the game and the TV ratings were solid.
However, one of the halftime performers from the WNBA All-Star Game has since been arrested. And she has reportedly been arrested on a felony charge.
It's troubling.
Rapper GloRilla, who performed at halftime of the WNBA All-Star Game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, was arrested on a felony drug possession charge, according to TMZ.
From the report:
As we told you, GloRilla's house was broken into this weekend ... by the time cops arrived, the suspects were gone -- but investigators say they encountered weed in their search for the burglars, and the rapper was then charged with felony drug possession.
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office tells TMZ ... deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress Saturday around 1:30 AM at a residence in the Atlanta suburbs. The sheriff's office says three suspects entered the house when an "armed occupant fired at the intruders."
Her lawyers have since spoken out.
"When her family members did the right thing and called law enforcement, instead of investigating the violent home invasion and theft at Ms. Woods' home, they instead sought a search warrant when they spotted what they believed was a small amount of marijuana," the attorneys said. "Law enforcement then sought arrest warrants for her even though she hadn't been at her home for some time. No arrest warrants have been issued for the violent home invaders. Ms. Woods is a victim, not a suspect. This is our tax dollars at work, absolutely unbelievable."
Police, meanwhile, are standing by their decision.
"The homeowner is a victim of a serious crime, and we are committed to bringing the suspects to justice," Sheriff Ron Freeman said in a statement, according to FOX 5 in Atlanta. "At the same time, we must continue to uphold and enforce the law in all aspects of this case."

Dream's Brittney Griner relives horrific moments before Russian prisoner swap

The post Dream's Brittney Griner relives horrific moments before Russian prisoner swap appeared first on ClutchPoints. With Brittney Griner being a focal point of the Atlanta Dream's frontcourt, she is back to her usual WNBA production, which was a process of its own after being released from prison in Russia via a prisoner swap. While Griner is having a resurgence with the Dream currently, she harkens back to her time in prison, speaking about the disturbing moments that led to the swap. Griner was in a sit-down interview with former NFL quarterback Cam Newton where the topic was on her time in a Russian prison, where she was originally sentenced to nine years back in 2022 over having vape cartridges containing hash oil. She would go into detail about how she was treated before the eventual prisoner swap with Viktor Bout, a Russian arms dealer. 'The trade took a little minute to happen too on the back end on my end,' Griner said. 'I had to get transferred from the penal colony to the men's prison in Moscow, and I got checked into there. I knew I was getting traded, but the way they were treating me and their one little last play to terrorize me or mess with me, because when they were checking me in.' 'They had me basically stripped down butt naked in front of a room of like probably about seven, eight men, and they had the Polaroid and they got me spinning in a circle while they're like taking photos, because my tattoos are, you know, whatever they are,' Griner continued. 'That was their last little, I guess, addict to mess with me.' Dream's Brittney Griner on the moments before prisoner swap With Griner in a new phase of her life after the events in Russia, there is no denying how stressful of an experience it must have been in the leadup to the swap. Griner would detail how she wouldn't trust anything around her in the chance she would be harmed, and also spoke about the relief when she realized home is around the corner. 'They're trying to offer me to eat,' Griner said. 'They're like we've got food. They said we've got steak. I'm like, no, I'm not about to get poisoned before I go home because I don't trust y'all. So we land I see the other plane on the other side. I know it's an American plane. I see the American flag on it. I'm just like, alright, home is close.' 'We made one little pit stop to some people that were high up in Abu Dhabi that made this possible,' Griner continued. 'Shook their hands and thanked them. They said if I ever wanted to come here, I could. I'm just like I appreciate you. In my mind, I'm like, I don't plan on leaving the country ever again. I'm good, we've got beaches right at the US Of A, I'm good.' Griner and the Dream next play on Tuesday as they take on the Las Vegas Aces. After GloRilla's arrest on drug charges, is Glo Bash concert event in Memphis still on?

Memphis rapper GloRilla was arrested on felony drug charges in Georgia this week, after police responding to a burglary at her home near Atlanta discovered what officers described as "a significant amount of marijuana." The incident will not affect GloRilla's July 25 homecoming "Glo Bash" concert at FedExForum, which remains on schedule, according to an arena spokesperson. As initially reported by WSB-TV in Atlanta and by TMZ, the latest legal difficulty for the Memphis-born rapper — whose birth name, Gloria Hallelujah Woods, is as captivating as her stage moniker — began about 1:30 a.m. July 19 when officers responded to a call at GloRilla's home. According to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, three suspects were burglarizing the house when the 25-year-old rapper was not present. An as yet unidentified individual inside the residence fired upon the burglers, who fled the scene. When deputies arrived at the scene, they smelled marijuana, according to the sheriff's office, and discovered quantities of the drug in a search of the residence. Later on July 19, GloRilla performed at the WNBA All-Star game in Indianapolis. She turned herself over to authorities on July 22 and was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a "schedule one" controlled substance — both felonies in Georgia. She was released on a $22,260 bond shortly afterward. 'The homeowner is a victim of a serious crime, and we are committed to bringing the suspects to justice,' Sheriff Ron Freeman told WSB-TV in Atlanta. 'At the same time, we must continue to uphold and enforce the law in all aspects of this case.' But GloRilla's attorneys objected to the arrest calling GloRilla "a victim, not a suspect," in a statement issued July 24. "Ms. Woods was out of town when her residence became a target for a group of home invaders who most likely knew she wasn't there," wrote the performer's attorneys, Marissa Goldberg and Drew Findling. "What they didn't know was that she had family staying with her that were traumatized by the violent entrance of this group. "This is our tax dollars at work, absolutely unbelievable,' they said. The incident occurred about 15 months after GloRilla's previous arrest. In April 2024, she was arrested on DUI and other traffic and alcohol charges in Suwanee, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, after an officer witnessed her make an illegal U-turn. Also in this case, the smell of marijuana led to further investigation and further charges, according to officers on the scene. GloRilla sells T-shirt with her mugshot during Glo Bash concert in Memphis

GloRilla had some new merch available during her Glo Bash concert event on July 25 at FedExForum in Memphis. Displayed among other items was a black T-shirt featuring the hip-hop star's recent mugshot from her arrest in Georgia on drug charges. The shirt, which was also available on GloRilla's official website, was selling for $40. GloRilla was arrested on felony drug charges in Georgia, after police responding to a burglary at her home near Atlanta discovered what officers described as "a significant amount of marijuana." She turned herself over to authorities on July 22 and was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a "schedule one" controlled substance — both felonies in Georgia. She was released on a $22,260 bond shortly afterward. GloRilla's attorneys objected to the arrest calling GloRilla "a victim, not a suspect," in a statement issued July 24. The incident did not interrupt plans for her inaugural Glo Bash event, as she took the stage around 9:15 p.m. at a sold-out FedExForum.
