Virgin River could cross paths with another small-town drama as star drops bombshell

Daily Mirror18-07-2025
With Virgin River becoming one of Netflix's biggest shows of all time and Sullivan's Crossing following in its footsteps, could a crossover be on the cards?
Virgin River might potentially merge with another beloved small-town romance series, according to claims from this prominent star.

Drawing inspiration from Robyn Carr's cherished bestselling novels, the Netflix sensation chronicles Mel Monroe (portrayed by Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse practitioner who relocates to a remote community after experiencing personal tragedy.

Upon arrival, she encounters bar proprietor and ex-Marine Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), with instant chemistry developing between them.

The captivating romance has recently concluded filming for its seventh series, anticipated to arrive on Netflix towards the end of this year or potentially in early 2026.
Meanwhile, American audiences have been engrossed in the newest series of Sullivan's Crossing, which follows comparable themes and draws from another Carr book collection, reports the Mirror US.

Given this link, viewers have speculated whether these programmes might intersect, and it seems we now have our response.
Starring Morgan Kohan and Chad Michael Murray, this heartwarming romance unfolds in Nova Scotia, centring on Kohan's character Maggie, a neurosurgeon who chooses to reconnect with her father Harry, known as Sully (Scott Patterson), whilst developing feelings for former solicitor California 'Cal' Jones (Murray).
In conversation with TechRadar, Kohan revealed she'd enthusiastically welcome the opportunity to interact with Mel, Jack and the entire Virgin River ensemble should circumstances permit.

"That would be so fun, why not!" she declared when presented with the concept. Despite the considerable geographical distance between the two towns, there's no reason why Virgin River and Timberlake can't exist in the same universe.
Interestingly, Sullivan's Crossing, which airs on CTV in Canada and The CW in the US, has also found significant success on Netflix, much like Virgin River, becoming its streaming home in the States.
The two shows even share a producer, Roma Roth, who is an executive producer for Virgin River and the creator and showrunner of Sullivan's Crossing.

With the Canadian drama gaining momentum and Mel and Jack's love story captivating millions, could a crossover episode be on the horizon?

Regardless, Kohan has teased plenty of unexpected twists in the newly renewed fourth season of Sullivan's Crossing, especially with the shocking revelation that Maggie is still wedded to her ex-lover, Liam (Marcus Rosner).
"I hope they can [stay together]," she commented about her relationship with Cal.
"They've built such a beautiful foundation, and clearly this is a bit of a bombshell.
"I think it will take some trust to build them back up, and maybe a lot of explaining... but they are so good together."
As the fanbase for both shows continues to expand, could Netflix surprise viewers by linking the Robyn Carr universe on screen?
Virgin River is available to stream on Netflix. Sullivan's Crossing airs on CTW and is on Netflix in the US.

The One Show's Alex Jones had 'no idea' about the complaints made against Jermaine Jenas

The One Show presenter Alex Jones said she had 'no idea' about the complaints made against her former co-host Jermaine Jenas The One Show presenter Alex Jones said she had 'no idea' about the complaints made against her former co-host Jermaine Jenas. The former footballer, 42, who presented alongside Alex on the programme for four years, was dismissed from the BBC last August due to improper conduct. ‌ Former Match of the Day star Jermaine admitted to sending lewd messages to two former colleagues at the BBC. In addition to losing his BBC role, the former England midfielder saw his representation with a talent agency terminated. His 14-year marriage to Ellie Penfold also ended as their separation was publicly acknowledged in March. ‌ ‌ In a new interview, Welsh presenter Alex revealed she didn't know anything about the complaints until Jermaine left the corporation. The 48-year-old said: "I very much take people on face value. But with JJ [Jenas] I didn't know what was going on. I had no idea. I thought he was taking extended leave. 'The BBC didn't share with me what was going on until they actually dealt with it. And, you know, they did what they thought was right. ‌ 'If that was my daughter and she felt uncomfortable with someone's behaviour, I hope that whatever company she was working for would deal with it swiftly as well.' Jermaine recently appeared on The Dressing Room Podcast with ex-Chelsea players Carlton Cole, Joe Cole and Wayne Bridge and compared the worlds of football and television. ‌ He spoke candidly about the cutthroat nature of the television industry, revealing that gossiping and backstabbing are commonplace. The star claimed that he experienced this firsthand during his time on The One Show, where he worked with various stand-in presenters. "Television is not like [football], they just talk behind your back," he revealed (via Wales Online). "Everybody in television would just lie to your face. When I was a main presenter on the show, sometimes when Alex Jones wouldn't be working because she was having children at the time, I was working with various female presenters. ‌ "We'd come off air and they'd go, 'Oh did you like her JJ', I'm like, 'Yeah she's really good, it's her first time, she's done really well.' And then I'd just see them talking c*** about them going, 'Yeah she's not coming back.'" After being sacked from the BBC, he apologised and said he had done 'nothing illegal' and that 'inappropriate messages' sent were 'between two consenting adults'. Months later, Jenas' wife, Ellie Penfold, announced the couple had split up after 16 years together. She said on Instagram: "I never imagined I would have to share something so personal with the public, but given the situation, I feel it's necessary. ‌ 'After 16 years together and 4 wonderful children, Jermaine and I have decided to part ways. We will remain friends and continue to co-parent.' The full interview with Alex Jones can be read in this week's Big Issue, on sale now.

Adam Sandler honors late costar Cameron Boyce in Happy Gilmore 2... six years after his tragic death at age 20

Adam Sandler is once again making sure Cameron Boyce is never forgotten. Six years after Boyce's tragic passing, the beloved actor made a posthumous cameo in Happy Gilmore 2, Sandler's newest Netflix comedy, which hit Netflix on July 25. In one early scene at a golf course check-in desk, Boyce can be seen playing on a background TV screen. The footage appears to be from Jessie, the Disney Channel series Boyce starred in from 2011 to 2015. It's a quiet blink-and-you'll-miss-it tribute, but many fans found his brief presence on their screens to be deeply meaningful. 'Adam Sandler including Cameron Boyce in #HappyGilmore2 as a cameo is so heartwarming,' one fan posted on X. 'He really loved that kid and I'm so glad he keeps his memory alive.' Another wrote, 'Adam Sandler honoring Cameron Boyce in Happy Gilmore 2 melts my heart.' 'Adam put a tiny Cameron Boyce (played his son in Grown Ups) tribute in Happy Gilmore 2. Excuse me while I sob,' a third wrote. Boyce, who played Sandler's son in the Grown Ups films, died in 2019 at age 20 due to a seizure related to an ongoing medical condition. At the time, Sandler posted an emotional tribute, calling him 'the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around.' 'Loved that kid. Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world… All our hearts are broken,' he said wrote. Sandler previously honored Boyce in his 2020 Netflix film Hubie Halloween, where a tribute card appeared during the credits, reading: 'In loving memory of Cameron Boyce. Gone way too soon and one of the kindest, coolest, funniest, and most talented kids we knew. You live on forever in our hearts and are truly.' Boyce played Keithie Feder, the spoiled son of Sandler's Lenny Feder in the 2010 comedy Grown Ups, returning in the 2013 sequel Grown Ups 2. Boyce was best known for playing Carlos - son of 101 Dalmatians villain Cruella de Vil in the Descendants movies and TV shorts that all aired on Disney Channel. Boyce was found unresponsive in his home on July 6, 2019, and pronounced dead later that day. His family confirmed three days later that he passed away due to an epileptic seizure, which was confirmed by the autopsy later that month. Earlier this month, Boyce was remembered by three of his Descendants co-stars on the sixth anniversary of his tragic passing. Sofia Carson (Evie), Booboo Stewart (Jay) and Sarah Jeffery (Audrey) - all took to Instagram to pay tribute to their beloved co-star. Carson shared an undated black and white throwback snap of her, Boyce and fellow Descendants co-star Dove Cameron (Mal). She added the poignant caption, 'Our Angel. Forever,' which received over 1.1 million likes in nine hours from her 20.3 million followers. Jeffrey also took to her Instagram story sharing a throwback pic from 2014 of her and Boyce, along with a poignant tribute. A young Boyce was seen in a black hoodie with a black stocking cap while Jeffrey was in a black stocking cap and a brown coat as they embraced. '2014. On a BC ferry heading back to Victoria to shoot more of Descendants. Life is good. Miss you Cam,' Jeffrey said with a red heart emoji. Kenny Ortega, who directed all of the Descendants films, also shared a throwback snap of Boyce and a touching tribute on Instagram. 'Impossible to forget you Cameron. You own a piece of my heart. The memories of our times working together are some of my greatest treasures,' Ortega began. 'When you entered a room the light grew brighter because of your presence. Your laugh, imagination, talent, generosity, and loving heart were second to none,' he added. Descendants followed a group of kids - the offspring of iconic Disney characters - who try to free their parents from captivity. Carson's Evie was the son of the Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Stewart's Jay was the son of Jafar from Aladdin and Jeffrey was the daughter of Aurora and Prince Philip from Sleeping Beauty. Boyce also starred in Mirrors, Eagle Eye, Grown Ups, Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer and Runts, along with playing Luke Ross on Jessie from 2011 to 2015.

Top WWE SummerSlam match at risk with top star 'blocked from entering US'

A major WWE match announced for SummerSlam 2025 is in serious jeopardy after a top superstar wasn't allowed to travel back to the United States. On the first night of the August 2 and 3 double header, Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul are set to face Randy Orton and Grammy Award-winning singer Jelly Roll in a tag team match. McIntyre, known as the Scottish Warrior, has been back in the UK for a friend's wedding in England over the weekend, but he's now claimed he was stopped from boarding his flight back to the US where he has lived for a number of years. 'There's now a good chance I don't make #SummerSlam,' he captioned a video on X as he talking into his phone camera from a field. 'It's quite a week I've had. You wanna know how it's been capped off? i can't get back into America, They wouldn't let me board my flight,' he said in the video. 'I'm in England still, at my buddy's wedding – what a wedding it was. Planning to go back, train for SummerSlam, but no, no, no, no, I got blocked. **Warning – the below video includes strong language** 'Wife and I walked up to the gate, trying to check in, always goes perfectly fine. Not this time.' McIntyre noted that there was an issue with his documentation, despite never having a problem any of the other times he's been travelling. He continued: ''Drew, you don't have your US passport. I know who you are. I know you've lived there for a long time, I know you're showing me pictures of your US passport, and your global entry. ''I know exactly who you are, your property and the likes. But no, we can't let you in the country buddy. 'So my wife and I panic, we say we've got a sick animal at home, we're good people, we care about our animals, we care about people. In the end, his wife travelled back alone 'against her will' to see their pet cat, while McIntyre had to turn around and leave the airport. Ever the professional, the former world champion used the real life incident to continue his on-screen feud with Jelly Roll. 'Here I am. So what happened, what changed this trip? Jelly Roll. You know somebody, got some connections? You've got your 15 minutes of fame right now, can get away with some stuff? You're hot, soon you will not be, so you're getting it in when you can,' he quipped. 'You realised when I took off my shirt on SmackDown, you went , 'Oh my God! All that aura, I'm screwed!' So you screw up my training for SummerSlam week. More Trending 'Why am I in a field? I don't know what I'm in a field but I can tell you one thing! When this is all over, I'm gonna get back, and I'm gonna drop you Jelly Roll. 'I'm gonna make you pay. And eventually, you're gonna gain all that weight back and you're gonna look like one of these f***ers.' It remains to be seen whether McIntyre will make it back by the the weekend, or if a replacement will need to be found for the match.
