Teenager killed, another fighting for life after horror crash in Greenacre, Sydney
A teenager has died and another is fighting for life after a horrific two-vehicle crash in western Sydney overnight.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Hume Highway and Worth Street just after 8pm on Thursday following reports of a collision between a hatchback and a truck.
One of the passengers of the car, a 16-year-old boy, died at the scene.
Another young boy in the car at the time was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Westmead Children's Hospital.
He remains in a critical condition.
The hatchback's female driver is also fighting for life, and has been taken to Westmead hospital.
The hatchback's third passenger, a man, was taken to the same hospital in a stable condition.
The male truck driver was taken to Bankstown Hospital for mandatory testing.
A witness described the scene as 'best to avoid' as ongoing roadworks and traffic were 'compounding the congestion'.
'Lots of cops, ambos, tow trucks,' they wrote.
'Traffic lights are also down with incident response on the scene.'
A crime scene has been established as investigations remain ongoing as of 5.50am on Friday morning.
Commuters are being urged to avoid the area, with the Hume Highway remaining closed in an eastbound direction and one lane closed heading west.
Diversions are in place via Muir Road and Worth Street.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Anyone with information or a dashcam footage is urged to contact Crime Stopper on 1800 333 000.
