et report: What roles Egypt played to support Palestinians in their fight for justice, freedom
Egyptian and Palestinian flags - SIS CAIRO - 16 June 2025: The Palestinian cause occupies a central position in Egyptian foreign policy agenda, and as a result, Egypt has historically stood by the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom and justice, playing multiple political, humanitarian, and diplomatic roles. In this report, et highlights different aspects of support that Egypt has provided to the Palestinian state in its struggle to prove its rights. First: Political and Diplomatic Support A) Consistent Support in International Forums: Egypt consistently defends the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people at the United Nations and the Security Council, affirming the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. B) Rejection of Forced Displacement: Egypt strongly rejected the Israeli occupation's attempts to force the displacement of Palestinians, particularly from the Gaza Strip to Sinai, stressing that this is a " red line ." Second: Mediation and Reconciliation Efforts Egypt played a pivotal mediating role in all ceasefire rounds and contributed to ending waves of escalation. Cairo also sponsored numerous agreements to bring the views of the factions closer together, ensuring Palestinian unity. Third: Humanitarian and Medical Support Despite security challenges, Egypt has maintained the open Rafah Crossing as a humanitarian outlet for Gaza residents and has organized the passage of medical and urgent cases. Egypt has sent thousands of tons of medical and food aid to Gaza during wars and crises, established field hospitals to treat the wounded, and received the injured for necessary treatment. It has also participated in organizing massive convoys, most prominently the National Alliance for Civil Development Action convoys and trucks loaded with tons of aid. These convoys have been lined up at the Rafah Crossing on the Egyptian side since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza, following the events of October 7, 2023, awaiting entry into the Gaza Strip amid the intransigence of the Israeli occupation, which controls the Rafah Crossing on the Palestinian side. Fourth: Media Positions Promoting the Issue in the Media: The Egyptian state has supported the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people by exposing the Israeli occupation's violations and conveying the true picture of events to the world, rather than the image portrayed by the occupation. There is no doubt that the Egyptian state has provided Palestine with more than symbolic support. It has shouldered the burden of the cause politically and humanitarianly, paying the price of its stability, economy, and security for its steadfast stance with a people facing the most heinous forms of occupation. Cairo continues to play its role as a pillar of support for the Palestinian cause.
