Anushka Sharma Texted R Madhavan After He Shared AI Clip Of Cristiano Ronaldo Praising Virat Kohli

R Madhavan admits he was fooled by a deepfake video of Cristiano Ronaldo praising Virat Kohli. Anushka Sharma had to step in.
Even celebrities aren't safe from today's AI deepfake videos. Actor R Madhavan recently shared how he was tricked by a rather convincing fake video showing football star Cristiano Ronaldo praising Indian cricketer Virat Kohli. So real was the clip that Madhavan shared it proudly — only to be corrected by Virat Kohli's wife, actor Anushka Sharma, who warned him it was AI-generated.
In a chat with Zee TV, Madhavan recalled, 'Yeah, in fact, one of the Reels that I saw had somebody praising Virat Kohli to high heavens. In fact, I think it was Ronaldo…how much he enjoyed watching Kohli bat and how much of a legend he thought he was. And I proudly forwarded that, I put it on Instagram and then I got a message from Anushka saying bhai, it's a fraud, it's AI."
He admitted it was embarrassing but acknowledged it as a valuable lesson on verifying what we share online. 'It's really embarrassing, like, oh! So even somebody like me who is pretty aware was completely taken away. And then, when she told me the flaws, I realised, arey haan, yeh to bada gadbad hain (yes, this is an issue). So one has to be very careful that whatever you're forwarding is very credible."
On the work front, Madhavan was recently seen in Aap Jaisa Koi with Fatima Sana Shaikh and in Test alongside Nayanthara and Siddharth. His latest film, Hisaab Barabar, directed by Ashwni Dhir, premiered at the 55th International Film Festival of India in November 2024. The film follows a railway ticket checker exposing corruption through suspicious bank transactions.
Anushka Sharma's much-anticipated film Chakda Xpress, a biopic on cricketer Jhulan Goswami, has reportedly been shelved, disappointing both fans and the cast. Co-star Renuka Shahane shared her sadness over the news, applauding Anushka's commitment to the role and the film's importance in highlighting women's sports.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is in the UK, preparing for a comeback to One Day International (ODI) cricket. Having retired from Test cricket in May 2025, Kohli has restarted training in London as he readies himself for India's upcoming ODI series against Australia this October.

Anupam Kher was ‘trembling' after wife Kirron Kher's cancer diagnosis, son Sikander was cool: ‘Main toh bimaari ke liye darr raha tha'

Veteran actor-politician Kirron Kher was hit with a curveball in 2020, when she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. During News18's event She Shakti in 2024, she graced the stage with her son, actor Sikander Kher. The India's Got Talent judge revealed that while her husband-actor Anupam Kher was 'trembling' after seeing her in the hospital, Sikander on the other hand, was pretty 'cool' about it. Kirron also opened up about the tough course of treatment and medicines she had to go through to recover from the disease. When the host asked about Sikander's reaction after knowing about his mother's cancer diagnosis, he shared, 'It was end of 2020, I was shooting for my movie Monkey Man in Indonesia at that time. I was there for 4 months, everything is in a bubble so you are disconnected from the rest of the world.' The actor added, 'Life plays it's cards the way it does. What do you do at that point? I think she is very strong that way, we were always there and are there for her throughout. At the end of the day, life goes on and work goes on. There's nothing much that you can do, right?' ALSO READ | Anupam Kher accepts he feels a 'void' for not having a child of his own: 'Kirron Kher could not conceive, when she did…' However, Kirron instantly quipped that she expected him to be a bit more emotional than practical. 'I have never seen you being emotional about it ever. I wanted you to be a little bit but you were not,' she said. 'Main toh bimaari ke liye darr raha tha, maa. How can it mess with you? It can't mess with you. Galat jagah aagaye boss tum. Those conversations were between me and dad when I was in Bataam,' he smiled and replied. Sikander continued, 'The thing is, you have to be strong. You can't be saying 'Oh My God' around the person, it is going to kill all the good energy around you. Nobody is feeling good about it. Unfortunately, the situation and what happened is one of the worst things that happen in the world.' After which, the Dostana actor added, 'Anupam used to look thoda sa ghabraaya hua when he used to come into my hospital room, but Sikander was cool. Every human is scared at one point in life about anything happening to them. But when it happens, the only option you have is to accept it.' Kirron Kher also revealed that the cancer treatment process was worse than the disease itself. 'You have to get the treatment done. Bimaari se zyada khatarnaak ilaaj hai iska. The medicines and their side effects. The first 6-8 months were very tough, then God was kind. You leave it to the Lord. The Lord fights for me, who are we? We are nobodies,' she expressed.

'Matthew Hayden sledged me when I wasn't even part of Indian team': Australia legend was unprovoked but still let it rip

Matthew Hayden played his cricket at a time when the Aussies were near-invincible in world cricket. Hayden made his Australia debut in 1993, but it wasn't until his breakout series against India during the 2001 Border-Gavaskar Trophy that he enhanced his reputation as one of the most feared Test openers in the world and became a legend by the time he finished. In 2004, Hayden did what many thought was impossible – break Brian Lara's previous world record of 375 when be bludgeoned 380 against Zimbabwe. It's another thing that Lara climbed to the top again just later and became the first-ever individual batter to score 400 in Test cricket. Matthew Hayden embodied the ruthless spirit of the Australian cricket team(AFP) After burning up the charts with 549 runs from three Tests, Hayden entered a zone of his own. So much so that when India went to Australia for a return tour in 2003/04, Hayden was one of India's most sought-after wickets. Hayden embodied the spirit of the ruthless Australia of that era, with Aakash Chopra narrating a never-before-heard incident. "One day, Matthew Hayden sledged me even though I wasn't part of the playing XI in that match. I asked him, 'Why are you sledging me? I've just come onto the ground to field'. He asked if the pitch was going to turn. I replied, 'You are the one batting, it's your job to assess the pitch. I'm just here to field and will head back to the dressing room once I'm done'," Chopra said on 'The Cheeky Singles' Show. Matthew Hayden wasn't finished there The former Indian opener revealed that he was once sledged by Hayden even though he wasn't part of the team. While Chopra did not mention the exact series or match, all signs point towards the 2004 series when Australia came to India and beat them 2-1. After scoring 0 and 5 in the series opener at Bengaluru, Chopra was dropped from the second Test in Chennai. He was back for the third match of the series in Nagpur but was axed again in Mumbai after returning scores of 9 and 1. Chopra mentioned Hayden's sledging caught him off guard because it was totally unprovoked. "It was completely unprovoked, but that's the Australian way, it brings the best out of them. Hayden thrives on those moments on the field, and Australians set very high standards. Whatever happens on the ground stays there, and afterwards, they're happy to share a drink," he added.
