Multi-vehicle collision in Cumberland County sends two to hospital
A 65-year-old man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 104 near Westchester Mountain, N.S., Monday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the crash site, which involved three-vehicles and a fifth-wheel trailer, just before noon.
Officers at the scene learned a Ford F250 was towing a fifth-wheel trailer when the driver pulled over to the side of the road to deal with a blown tire.
At the same time, a Nissan Rogue and a Ford F150 collided while driving by the parked trailer.
The F150 struck the parked trailer while the driver of the F250 was outside of the vehicle.
The driver of the Ford 250 truck, a 65-year-old man from Valley, N.S., suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital via LifeFlight.
The passenger of the Ford 250 truck, a 65-year-old woman from Valley, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene.
The driver and sole occupant of the Nissan Rogue, a 69-year-old woman from Donkin, N.S., was transported by EHS with minor injuries.
The driver of the Ford F150 truck, a 41-year-old woman, and passenger, a 59-year-old woman, both from Ontario, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at the scene.
Highway 104 was closed for a period of time while collision analysts and reconstructionists worked at the scene.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.

Woman, 82, has died following hit-and-run in Toronto's Fort York area

The crash happened on July 27 near Brunel Court and Fort York Boulevard, which is north of Lake Shore Boulevard west and west of Spadina Avenue. Toronto police said they were called to that area just after 10 a.m. for reports of a fail-to-remain collision. Investigators say that an 82-year-old woman was walking across a driveway when she was hit by the driver of a van that fled the scene and was last seen heading towards Fort York Boulevard. The woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. She died of her injuries in hospital on Friday. This incident is now the city's second fatal private property collision of 2025. The investigation is ongoing by members of Traffic Services. Local residents, businesses, and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, are asked to contact Toronto police at 416-808-1900 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
