Horror fans bowled over by 'fever dream' cast for eagerly anticipated sequel
Horror fans have been sharing their glee over the stacked cast that's been revealed for an exciting sequel in the works.
Ready or Not was a popular 2019 film in the genre, which nabbed an impressive 89% rating on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes from critics.
Now its star Samara Weaving has been confirmed to be returning alongside newcomers to the franchise Elijah Wood, Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Cronenberg – yes, the acclaimed body horror master-director himself.
They join previously announced Marvel star Kathryn Newton, as well as Shawn Hatosy, The Dark Knight actor Néstor Carbonell and Kevin Durand.
The follow-up film's official title has also been confirmed as Ready or Not: Here I Come, which has tickled fans with its playful perfection too.
Wood, known best for his leading role in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, has also appeared in multiple horror flicks, including The Monkey for Oz Perkins most recently, as well as slasher Maniac and Colour Out of Space with Nicolas Cage, while Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress Gellar is a horror icon thanks to her turns in I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Grudge and Scream 2.
While a bit of a left swing, Cronenberg has acted several times before, appearing in TV series Star Trek: Discovery most recently, as well as Slasher and Alias Grace, and even cameos in his own films. This is where he's made his name, directing horror staples like The Fly, Videodrome and Scanners, alongside his new release The Shrouds.
'David Cronenberg being cast in Ready or Not 2… what a time to be alive,' exclaimed fan @BriAnimator_ on X, while Gretchen added: 'The sound I made when I saw this reveal.'
'This cast feels like a fever dream in the best possible way. Horror fans, we win,' enthused @Giii_014 as Debayo mused: 'How do you fit Cronenberg, Buffy, and Frodo into one horror movie without tearing a hole in reality?'
Others praised the line-up 'killer' as Andi proclaimed: 'I was not into this idea before. But now I will be there.'
'Elijah Wood in a horror is usually something pretty bonkers, I'm keen,' said Joka0451 on Reddit.
'SMG and Elijah Wood are both scream queens, I cannot wait!' posted @TheHellMotel while @Nad_GarciaS shared: 'Calling Cronenberg, Gellar, Wood, Durand AND Samara Weaving 'ensemble' feels like assembling a horror Avengers team – too many heavy hitters or the perfect recipe for chaos? 🤔 Can Ready or Not 2 keep the claustrophobic tension or will the star power turn it into a crowded house of jump scares?'
In Ready or Not, Samara played Grace, who couldn't be happier after she marries the man of her dreams at his family's luxurious estate.
There's just one catch – she must now hide from midnight until dawn while her new in-laws hunt her down with guns, crossbows and other weapons.
As Grace desperately tries to survive the night, she soon finds a way to turn the tables on her not-so-lovable relatives. More Trending
'It's the kind of low-budget, bound-for-cult-glory movie whose eccentricities will grow on you with repeated viewings, wrote critic Brian Eggert in his review, while Josh Larsen described the movie as 'the gorier, gushier, nastier cousin to Knives Out'.
Filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, aka Radio Silence, are returning to direct the survival horror; screenwriters Guy Busick ('Abigail,' 'Scream') and R. Christopher Murphy are also back.
Ready or Not grossed $57million (£42.7m) on a $6m (£4.5m) budget, and its directors went on to make Scream (2022), Scream VI and Abigail in the interim.
Ready or Not: Here I Come is yet to receive a release date. Ready or Not is available to stream on Disney Plus.

Love Island star ‘calls police' after influencer he met on dating site accuses him of cheating with ‘500 women'
The former islander says he only went on one date with the woman BAD DATE Love Island star 'calls police' after influencer he met on dating site accuses him of cheating with '500 women' LOVE Island star Tak Chipangura has told fans he has 'called the police' after a single date with an influencer turned sour. Tak, who appeared on the Australian series of Love Island, was accused by the woman of cheating with "500 women" following their night together. Advertisement 4 Love Island star Tak Chipangura has 'called the authorities' after a bad date Credit: INSTAGRAM 4 Tak has accused a woman of making 'serious false allegations' Credit: Instagram Tak is believed to have met the female influencer on dating site Hinge but now claims to have got "the proper authorities" involved. The rapper and former security guard has accused the woman of "harassment, bullying, public safety and defamation of character". She has even been accused of telling Tak she "wished he died" after he had a minor prang in his car. In a lengthly statement on Instagram, Tak has broken his silence on the situation which he says occurred after he spent one night with her. Advertisement He told his fans: "First I would love to say thank you for the love and support I've received, really appreciate the ones who reached out to check in on me and make sure I'm doing okay. "I'm not going to feed into this behaviour, the people who know me know that I'm not capable of such things. "All of this will be dealt with accordingly and by the proper authorities as she has made some pretty serious and false allegations. "Harassment, bullying, public safety and defamation of character are serious offences and should not be taken lightly. Advertisement "And to all the people that enable this behaviour making fake accounts to give her false information and formulate scenarios that never occurred, it's worth taking a long look in the mirror before contributing to the defamation of someone's character." Tak appeared in the 2022 series of Love Island Australia. Love Island UK left looking tame as Aussie contestants boast about 'pounding' on the show Before entering the villa, he spoke proudly of his "strong morals". He lasted 22 days on the show. Now working as a rapper and model, Tak is believed to have hooked up with the female influencer on Hinge for a date last week. Advertisement The woman later posted a video on social media claiming he had been speaking to other women behind her back. "I am crashing out because a man has been deceiving me and about 500 other women," she ranted. The influencer, who is also Australian, also made a string of other allegations before they were delated. Fans have been left shocked by the situation and have given their opinions on Reddit. Advertisement One said: "This is all because he met her 3 days ago. She's already obsessed with him when he only spoke to her as a general and didn't promise her kids, marriage etc. crazy." Another added: "I feel like this level of crashout would be warranted to some extent if they were in a committed relationship, but based on what he said it sounds like she's the only person he's met off hinge." And a third said: "Idgaf [I don't give a f***] about hook ups btw but agree he's allowed to say he's not keen to continue things with her without her losing her mind like this. Hopefully the police help him." 4 Tak appeared on Love Island Australia in 2022 Credit: Nine Advertisement

Netflix fans all say same thing about 'jewel' of a period drama with 'one complaint'
A Netflix fan has hailed a historical fiction series as a "jewel", with the show being rated 4.8/5 by viewers Alias Grace has captured audiences with its dark and compelling narrative of the infamous 1843 murders of Thomas Kinnear and his housekeeper, earning praise for being "dark" and "riveting". The short series, Alias Grace, thrilled viewers with its serpentine plot and Sarah Gadon's "excellent" portrayal of a convicted murderer. The Canadian production, led by director Mary Harron, delves into the 19th-century scandal and is adapted from Margaret Atwood's novel of the same name. It unravels as Grace Marks, the imprisoned protagonist, recounts her life from her immigration from Ireland to working as a maid in Canada to the psychologist evaluating her after being jailed for 15 years. With her alleged accomplice James McDermott executed and her memory of the slayings unclear, the series encapsulates the enigma surrounding her confession. As Grace narrates her past during the psychiatric sessions, we're transported back in time to witness the horrific crimes and subsequent trial through flashbacks. The story threads together her treacherous voyage from Ireland, the intimate friendships she formed, her struggles with mental health and the path that led to the murders, while her doctor becomes peculiarly fixated on her. Enthusiasts have expressed their acclaim on Rotten Tomatoes, with one saying: "Very beautiful from start to finish! I am blown away by Sarah Gadon's manifestation of Grace. The storyline is so powerful, soul-stirring and evocative! I hope they make more films or series like this," reports Surrey Live. Another review read: "Fascinating and riveting... the acting was five stars. Finished it last night and still thinking about it. I don't care about an more of these top-notch films should be shown." Despite its roots in historical events, the creators took creative liberties, inserting the figure of Dr. Simon Jordan, portrayed by Edward Holcroft. His character not only drives the plot but also highlights the zeitgeist of the 1800s, a period when perceptions of mental health were evolving and there was a growing discourse on treating inmates as patients rather than mere prisoners. This portrayal particularly resonated with audiences, with one viewer writing: "In the show's best moments, it's about something darker and more complicated; about how there's things we'll do for the sake of ourselves and things we'll do for the sake of those we love, but when both are on the table, dangerous doors swing open." Whereas another commented: "Although it may not have so much visual strength, there are some quite inspired moments that help 'Alias Grace' to be a jewel that deserves to be discovered." Yet despite universal acclaim, fans share a common lament – there simply isn't enough of the series to fully satisfy their binge-watching desires. The programme, which first aired in 2017, appears to have been designed as a single series offering, particularly as several of Margaret Atwood's adaptations have made their way onto our screens, such as the acclaimed Handmaid's Tale. An enthusiast commented: "My only complaint is that there are only 6 episodes!" For those eager to explore the "haunting" domain fashioned from Margaret Atwood's imaginings by screenwriter Sarah Polley, Alias Grace is currently accessible to stream on Netflix.

Clarkson's Farm fans think they spotted 'editing error' – but there's more to it
Jeremy Clarkson fans thought they spotted an editing mistake in the season 4 finale (Picture: Amazon Prime) Clarkson's Farm fans got quite the shock when they tuned in to watch the season 4 finale today. For a brief moment during the closing moments of the eighth episode, there was a strange blink and you'll miss it moment where a woman holding a red case flashed up on screen. The cameo – if you want to call it that – seems rather inexplicable, and it's not commented on by the narration, which has led some online to label it an editing error. On X, @Nc2012_700x wrote that, 'While watching Clarkson's Farm on Amazon Prime Video, a still image of a woman flashed on screen for a split second. Likely an editing mistake. Anyone else notice this?' They weren't the only ones to spot the 'mistake'.@gibsey007 tagged Jeremy in a tweet and asked, 'Why was a single frame added to your end message. Who is she?' Meanwhile, on Reddit, WasKnown asked other Clarkson's farm fans 'was symbolic of anything or an editing mistake? So confused by that.' The above photo made a blink and you'll miss it appearance in the episode (Picture: Justin Tallis/AFP via Getty Images) Of course, if you've been paying attention to British politics over the last few months, you'll know this wasn't an editing mistake or a random gag. The woman in question is Rachel Reeves, the current Chancellor of the Exchequer, who upset farmers with her recent budget. Basically, the UK government has reintroduced a 20% inheritance tax on farms valued at more than £1million. This means the children and heirs of some farmers will no longer inherit land tax-free as they once did. Needless to say, the move has upset a number of farmers across the UK who claim that while their assets may be valuable, they are cash poor. They argue then this new law will force those inheriting farms to sell their land if they want to pay the tax bill. The picture was likely no accident however (Picture: In Pictures via Getty Images) Farmers claim this puts the future of the industry at risk and threatens food security in the UK. Supporters on the other hand, argue that the current law – which means farmers don't pay inheritance tax – is being abused by the wealthy to avoid taxes. Furthermore, they claim that only a small percentage of UK farmers will be affected Still, the British farming community was so incensed by the proposal that there were widespread protests in London, with Jeremy Clarkson becoming something of a spokesperson for the movement. Speaking to Sky News during one protest, Clarkson demanded that the government 'back down' on the policy. Rachel Reeves has upset farmers by changing inheritance tax laws (Picture:) 'If you make a mistake, we all do, and they have, be big enough to say we made a mistake here, and then back down,' he said. It seems likely, then, that the picture of Reeves which flashes up just as Jeremy says 'next year couldn't be any worse' is a not-so-subtle dig at the chancellor's plans, which will come into force from 2026. Jeremy has become the farmer's unofficial spokesperson on the issue (Picture: Getty Images) While some fans were baffled by Reeve's appearance, others immediately got the gag and shared their thoughts on it on social media. @jfyuga wrote on X, 'Seeing a subliminal frame of Rachel Reeves with the red briefcase during the last episode of Clarkson's Farm 4…. Well played @JeremyClarkson'. Shane Ó Dubhuir, meanwhile, added, 'Rachel Reeves very brief appearance at the end of Clarkson's Farm [crying face emoji].'
