Summerside woman dies in 2-vehicle crash in Wellington Centre, P.E.I.
East Prince RCMP said in a news release they received a 911 call about the crash at about 3:30 p.m. When officers arrived, Island EMS and the Miscouche Fire Department were already on the scene.
Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles, which were severely damaged.
Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene. The other driver suffered serious injuries. Firefighters had to extract him from his vehicle, and he was taken to Prince County Hospital for treatment.
"At this time, it appears one of the vehicles swerved into oncoming traffic. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision; however, the investigation is ongoing," the release read.
An RCMP collision analyst and a provincial coroner also attended the scene.

Police say the Othello Tunnels in Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park in Hope, B.C., has reopened, while a search to find a missing man who fell into the river last weekend continues. RCMP closed off the area in the park as a police underwater recovery team went into the Coquihalla River on Wednesday to try to find the 19-year-old man but was unsuccessful. Mike Sargent says in a statement that the pools of water where the missing man was last seen have been thoroughly searched. Story continues below advertisement The man fell into the river near the tunnels last Saturday, and emergency responders were able to rescuing a bystander who was stranded while looking for the missing man. Police said previously that they believed the man's body was trapped underwater by heavy currents.

Othello Tunnels reopened, but body of 19-year-old not yet found, RCMP say

(Facebook/Hope Search and Rescue) The Othello Tunnels area of Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park has reopened, but efforts to find the 19-year-old man believed to have drowned there over the weekend have so far been unsuccessful. Search and rescue efforts will resume Saturday, the RCMP's Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment RCMP said in a news release Friday. 'The pools of water where the man was last seen were thoroughly searched in hopes of locating him and providing a level of closure to his family,' said Staff Sgt. Mike Sargent, in the release. 'While he has not yet been found, search efforts remain active and ongoing.' Public access will be restricted in certain areas of the park to accommodate search efforts going forward. The missing man went into the water near the Othello Tunnels shortly after 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 26. Police have previously said a bystander was rescued by raft after becoming stranded while trying to locate the fallen man. The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team searched the area on July 30 but was unable to find the young man's body. The following day, Hope Search and Rescue continued searching from the shoreline and using drones to fly over the river.

$13K in jewelry stolen during Guelph break-in
More than $13,000 worth of jewelry was taken during a break-in at a Guelph home. It happened sometime Thursday in the area of Waverley Drive and Windsor Street. When the homeowner returned, just before 5 p.m., they found the patio door smashed and house ransacked. Guelph Police said jewelry, flatware and cash were missing.
