An Outlander cast member has undergone a complete transformation for their new role in a mystery thriller, reports the Daily Record.
The actor, whose character in TV drama Outlander stirred up much drama at Fraser's Ridge and beyond, will be part of an ensemble cast in the upcoming drama.
Welsh actor Mark Lewis Jones, known for his role as Tom Christie in season six of Starz's epic historical series, will star as Rhys Owen in the drama Y Golau: Dŵr, also known as The Light in the Hall: Still Waters in its English-language version.
The show makes a triumphant return three years after its debut, The Light in the Hall, back in 2022.
Season two of the acclaimed Welsh anthology series follows young journalist Caryl Huws (played by Siân Reese-Williams), who finds herself entangled in a complex web of personal betrayal, family secrets, and dark mysteries after she begins investigating a controversial redevelopment plan to expand a local reservoir.

As Caryl delves deeper, long-buried tensions are reignited and doubt is cast on the imprisonment of Rhys for the murder of his cousin during protests against the expansion 30 years ago.
Alongside Jones and Reese-Williams, The Light in the Hall: Still Waters/Y Golau: Dŵr also stars Steeltown Murders' Nia Roberts as Eve Davies, and Robert Glenister from The Night Caller and Sherwood as Robert Davies.
Additional cast members feature Netflix's White Lines star Tom Rhys Harries portraying Hari Breckon, The Red King's Maeve Courtier-Lilley returning as Mabli Davies Owen, Dal Y Mellt's Wyn Bowen Harries taking on Bryn Owen, Mali Tudno Jones from Bariau as Megan Breckon, Broadchurch's Matthew Gravelle playing Gareth Breckon, and 35 Awr's Gillian Elisa as Eunice.
The fresh series will once more unfold in the imaginary Welsh community of Llanemlyn, with creator Regina Moriarty collaborating with Siân Naiomi, Anwen Huws, Catherine Linstrum, and Angharad Elen on the screenwriting.

The Light in the Hall: Still Waters/Y Golau: Dŵr will debut initially in Wales this September in Welsh with subtitles. The show will broadcast subsequently across the remainder of the UK on Channel 4.
The first season garnered favourable critical reception, with viewers expressing their appreciation on IMDb.
One viewer described it as "mesmerising" and remarked: "Wow this was good. Joanna Scanlon and Alexander Roach both starred in the brilliant No Offence and are both excellent here too."
Meanwhile, a perfect 10/10 review declared: "Once you start watching it you can't stop, you're almost holding your breath! Actors are absolutely amazing, spot on!" One viewer commented: "You will not waste your time watching this, and I always love when they film absolutely beautiful, and I don't think I've ever seen a show with any one of these individual actors in it that I didn't like, they never let you down, their faces are what draw you in, because you know they're great actors but they're acting keeps you watching!".

Outlander favourite lands huge new role in highly-anticipated romance series
One of Outlander's biggest stars has been cast in a hotly-anticipated romance series alongside actors from The Bear and The White Lotus. Tobias Menzies, who is best known for portraying Jonathan 'Black Jack' Randall in the Starz show Outlander, has joined the cast of a star-studded new series. Menzies, also famed for playing Prince Philip in Netflix's The Crown, is set to star in upcoming Apple TV+ show Prodigies, which will also star The Bear's Ayo Edebiri and The White Lotus star Will Sharpe. Created by Sharpe, the series follows two ex-child prodigies in their early 30s, who are starting to question whether their very ordinary existence is living up to the exceptional potential they once showed in childhood. The ensemble also includes your Honor's Andrene Ward-Hammond, Loki actress Sophia Di Martino, Nabhaan Rizwan from Netflix 's Kaos, Roar star Meera Syal and The Franchise's Lolly Adefope. Fans of Netflix's Black Doves will also be thrilled to know that Prodigies comes from the same series producer, Sister. Meanwhile, Sharpe and Edebiri serve as Executive Producers alongside Jane Featherstone, Naomi de Pear and Katie Carpenter. The unnamed star allegedly showed a graphic image of a nude man's genitals on her phone during a conversation about personal preferences, leaving the recipient 'completely horrified". The identity of the male in the snap remains unknown but insiders claim the interaction was intended as 'jokey, locker-room banter". However, the situation took an uncomfortable turn and is said to have left the junior staff member in tears. A source described the scandal as a "ticking time bomb". They warned: 'As soon as the name of this woman - and details of her bad behaviour - are unleashed, it will derail entire departments and mark the first female to be formally swept up into the BBC's wrongdoing roll call. "The woman asked the young producer if she liked 'd*** pics' and then showed her a picture on her mobile phone. "It was meant to be jokey, locker-room type banter, but the woman was completely horrified and cried about it. 'No one minds a bit of office banter, but this was on another level. She felt like it was an intentionally shocking move to intimidate, veiled as a joke. It was way too much. 'The woman had to apologise to the girl. It's double standards, but somehow a woman being involved in showing d**k pics feels much more offensive than a male. "The release of her name would be seismic.' This would mark the first time a female BBC star has been swept into the broadcaster's growing list of controversies. The alleged incident adds to the BBC's growing pile of scandals with the Beeb still recovering from heavily reported misconduct claims involving other high-profile stars. These include MasterChef hosts Gregg Wallace and John Torode, who were recently axed following an investigation into their behaviour behind the scenes. Earlier this year, former newsreader Huw Edwards admitted to multiple charges relating to indecent images and was handed a suspended prison sentence. The BBC responded to the latest scandal by saying: "While we do not comment on individual cases, we take all complaints about conduct at work extremely seriously."
