Daniel Ricciardo Embraces ‘Slow Lane' Life After F1 Exit
Daniel Ricciardo's trademark grin is still as bright as ever. Only now, it's beaming from a karting track rather than the cockpit of a Formula 1 car. At 36, the Australian star is settling into what he cheekily calls 'the slow lane,' embracing a more laid-back chapter after an unceremonious exit from F1 last year.

Ricciardo's once-promising return with AlphaTauri (now VCARB) in 2023 seemed a chance to rebuild his career. But after a wrist-breaking crash at Zandvoort, followed by a string of poor performances in 2024, he was replaced after Singapore by Liam Lawson.
With no seat lined up, Ricciardo quietly stepped back from the spotlight. Aside from the occasional Instagram post and sponsor cameo, he kept a low profile, leaving fans wondering about how he was truly handling life off the grid.
Now we have our answer. At a recent Daniel Ricciardo Series karting event at Buckmore Park, Ricciardo opened up revealing he's more than content with how things have turned out.

'I'm just enjoying some life in the slow lane,' he laughed, describing the joy of reconnecting the grassroots side of racing. "I mean, it sounds weird saying like retirement when I'm 35 years old, but retirement from at least the world I was living in. So it's cool, you know, to be at the kart track. It's my first time at a racetrack in since, I guess, Singapore, so since quite a few months now," he further added.

It's a far cry from the relentless pressure of chasing podiums and contracts in F1, but Ricciardo seems genuinely at peace and still very much in love with motorsport.
For fans who remember his electric overtakes and infectious personality, it's a bittersweet turn.
But seeing Ricciardo light up the kart track stress-free and surrounded by young racers inspired by him is a reminder that there's life beyond F1's brutal calendar. Even if it's a few mph slower.

Dodgers Make Teoscar Hernandez Decision Before White Sox Game
Dodgers Make Teoscar Hernandez Decision Before White Sox Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Outfielder Teoscar Hernandez is in his tenth major-league season and his second with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Advertisement Originally signed by the Houston Astros as an international free agent in February 2011, he made his MLB debut in 2016. In July 2017, Houston traded him to the Toronto Blue Jays, where Hernandez established himself as an offensive threat and earned his first All-Star selection in 2021. Prior to the 2023 season after six seasons in Toronto, the Blue Jays sent him to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for reliever Erik Swanson and another pitching prospect. After an up-and-down year in Seattle, Hernandez agreed to a one-year, $23.5 million deal with the Dodgers in 2024. He responded by winning the Home Run Derby, earning a second All-Star appearance and playing a key role in Los Angeles's postseason run that culminated in a World Series title. Last offseason, he secured his long-term future in L.A. with a three-year, $66 million contract. Advertisement Ahead of Wednesday's game against the Chicago White Sox, the Dodgers decided to give him the day off, with the club hopeful a day off will spark a turnaround. Through 78 games this year, he is batting .263 with 14 home runs, 54 RBIs and a .779 OPS—numbers that underscore a still-productive season. At 32, Hernandez remains an important contributor in a lineup built for October baseball. Los Angeles sits at 54–32, leading the NL West by 7.5 games over the San Diego Padres as they chase back-to-back World Series championships. The Dallas Mavericks, who won the draft lottery despite having the 11th-best odds, selected him. Advertisement Moments after hearing his name called, Flagg called it a "dream come true." "I'm feeling amazing. It's a dream come true, to be honest," the 6-foot-9 forward said, standing next to his family. "I wouldn't want to share it with anybody else." Fast forward to Wednesday, and the Mavericks brought Flagg in to officially sign his rookie contract worth $62.7 million over four years. Afterward, the 18-year-old put on his new threads for the first time and posed for some photos. ESPN Spotlights Broncos Rookie Receiver Pat Bryant as Most Surprising Player in Offseason
ESPN Spotlights Broncos Rookie Receiver Pat Bryant as Most Surprising Player in Offseason originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Training camp is just a few weeks away for the Denver Broncos and the rest of the NFL, and naturally, teams and coaches will be looking towards building their rosters ahead of the 2025 season. Part of that roster construction stems from turning over every stone and seeing who stands out in training camp and OTAs. Advertisement On Monday, ESPN's Jeff Legwold wrote an article covering each team's biggest offseason surprise player, and his pick for the Broncos was rookie receiver Pat Bryant. The former Illinois receiver was the Broncos' third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and opinions were split on him. However, head coach Sean Payton and the Broncos brass are enamoured with Bryant. 'Perhaps it's difficult to be 'under the radar' when your head coach compares you to Michael Thomas before you've set foot in the team's facility, but the rookie showed he will do his part to carve out some playing time.' Legwold wrote. 'The third-round pick (74th overall) ran a 4.61 40-yard dash at the combine, which deterred some in the league. But the Broncos saw a precise route runner who consistently created space with explosive release at the line of scrimmage.' Denver Broncos wide receiver Pat Bryant (13) during rookie minicamp at Broncos Park Powered by Chenoy-Imagn Images The comparisons to Michael Thomas, a former Sean Payton receiver during his time in New Orleans, are apt. Thomas ran a 4.57 40-yard dash at the 2016 NFL Combine, but went on to have a successful career in the NFL thanks to his ability to create separation at the line of scrimmage. He also consistently demonstrated physicality at the catch-point, something Bryant showcased in college, catching 23-of-42 contested targets, per PFF. Advertisement The fact that Bryant is showing off his talents this early is a positive sign for an offense heading in the right direction, and later in the article, Legwold went on to explain what he saw from Bryant in OTAs. 'He consistently showed physicality to win contested catches during the Broncos' offseason program, and quarterback Bo Nix showed the confidence to put the ball to Bryant in tight situations,' Legwold wrote. 'Bryant's catch over first-round pick Jahdae Barron in minicamp was one of the best receptions in the three-day affair. Playing time will be hard to come by with Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims Jr., and Troy Franklin getting most of the work with the starters, but Bryant is in the mix if he builds on his offseason work.'
