ESPN Spotlights Broncos Rookie Receiver Pat Bryant as Most Surprising Player in Offseason
Training camp is just a few weeks away for the Denver Broncos and the rest of the NFL, and naturally, teams and coaches will be looking towards building their rosters ahead of the 2025 season. Part of that roster construction stems from turning over every stone and seeing who stands out in training camp and OTAs.

On Monday, ESPN's Jeff Legwold wrote an article covering each team's biggest offseason surprise player, and his pick for the Broncos was rookie receiver Pat Bryant. The former Illinois receiver was the Broncos' third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and opinions were split on him. However, head coach Sean Payton and the Broncos brass are enamoured with Bryant.
'Perhaps it's difficult to be 'under the radar' when your head coach compares you to Michael Thomas before you've set foot in the team's facility, but the rookie showed he will do his part to carve out some playing time.' Legwold wrote. 'The third-round pick (74th overall) ran a 4.61 40-yard dash at the combine, which deterred some in the league. But the Broncos saw a precise route runner who consistently created space with explosive release at the line of scrimmage.'

The comparisons to Michael Thomas, a former Sean Payton receiver during his time in New Orleans, are apt. Thomas ran a 4.57 40-yard dash at the 2016 NFL Combine, but went on to have a successful career in the NFL thanks to his ability to create separation at the line of scrimmage. He also consistently demonstrated physicality at the catch-point, something Bryant showcased in college, catching 23-of-42 contested targets, per PFF.

The fact that Bryant is showing off his talents this early is a positive sign for an offense heading in the right direction, and later in the article, Legwold went on to explain what he saw from Bryant in OTAs.
'He consistently showed physicality to win contested catches during the Broncos' offseason program, and quarterback Bo Nix showed the confidence to put the ball to Bryant in tight situations,' Legwold wrote. 'Bryant's catch over first-round pick Jahdae Barron in minicamp was one of the best receptions in the three-day affair. Playing time will be hard to come by with Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims Jr., and Troy Franklin getting most of the work with the starters, but Bryant is in the mix if he builds on his offseason work.'

Tom Brady Has One-Word Reaction to Magic Johnson Showing off His Billionaire Lifestyle originally appeared on Athlon Sports. While many fans remember Magic Johnson from his glory days with the "Showtime" Lakers teams of the 1980s, the 65-year-old has since become an accomplished businessman and entrepreneur. The five-time NBA champion shared a post to his Instagram account on Thursday to provide some motivation to his followers. Johnson's caption read, "You don't need much motivation to workout with this beautiful backdrop!" The video shows Magic walking on a treadmill as the drone camera pulls back to reveal his location. Johnson is aboard a huge yacht named Whisper, although it's unknown whether it's his vessel or a charter. The Instagram reel then cuts to show the yacht from another angle, from the vantage point of striking cliffs and exposed rocks near crystal-blue shallows, which could be located somewhere in the Mediterranean. With all the attention from Johnson's followers, one fan took special notice. NFL legend Tom Brady congratulated Johnson's post by leaving a reply that read, "Yessir🔥." Brady and Johnson are connected indirectly in business, as they are both minority owners in several sports leagues. Brady, along with Mark and Carol Davis, has ownership of the Las Vegas Aces. Steelers sign GM Omar Khan to 3-year extension after offseason that included signing Aaron Rodgers
PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Steelers signed general manager Omar Khan to a three-year extension after an offseason that saw the team bring in quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Steelers announced the deal Thursday that will keep Khan with Pittsburgh through the 2028 season. He was hired as the team's GM in 2022. 'Omar and his team have done a great job over the past three years in constructing our roster through the NFL draft, strategic trades, and free agency,' Steelers president Art Rooney II said in a statement. 'We look forward to continuing that trend that will lead to even more success on the field.' Khan and coach Mike Tomlin are structuring their offense around Rodgers, the four-time NFL MVP who's returning for a 21st season. The 41-year-old Rodgers signed a one-year deal after a season in which Justin Fields and Russell Wilson combined to lead the Steelers to a 10-7 record and a playoff berth. To bolster the receiver spot, Pittsburgh acquired two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf from Seattle. The Steelers quickly signed him to a five-year deal to bring some stability at the position. Earlier this week, the team acquired All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey, Pro Bowl tight end Jonnu Smith and a 2027 seventh-round draft pick from the Miami Dolphins for All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fifth-round pick. The next order of business for Pittsburgh could be working out a new deal with star linebacker T.J. Watt. The four-time All-Pro and 2021 AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year is getting ready to enter the final season of the four-year extension he signed in September 2021. In April, Pittsburgh will host the NFL draft. The Steelers are scheduled to have a dozen selections to reshape their roster. A priority figures to be in finding a long-term solution at QB. 'I believe we are building a championship roster and look forward to the 2025 season and beyond as our goals continue to be to bring another Super Bowl to the city of Pittsburgh and our great fans,' said Khan, who's in his 25th season with the Steelers. ___

Big Ten Powerhouse Predicted to Land Nation's No. 4 WR
Big Ten Powerhouse Predicted to Land Nation's No. 4 WR originally appeared on Athlon Sports. As the college football offseason continues to roll on, a number of the top players in the 2026 recruiting class are deciding on which programs they want to play for, which includes wide receiver Calvin Russell out of Opa-locka, Florida. Advertisement It's soon to come as he has narrowed his options to four schools, choosing between the Michigan Wolverines, the Syracuse Orange, the Oregon Ducks and the Florida State Seminoles. Of course, any team would love to be his choice, and in an expert prediction from On3's Stephen Wagner, Russell will land with the Big Ten and play under head coach Sherrone Moore at Michigan. It would certainly give the Wolverines a reason to be excited, as On3 Industry Rankings have Russell as a five-star recruit, the No. 4 wide receiver, the No. 2 player in Florida and the No. 32 player in the nation. Miami Northwestern wide receiver Calvin Russell is predicted to land with the Michigan Peterman / Special to The Post / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Those high ratings are backed up by some solid stats at the high school level. Russell accumulated 35 receptions, 645 yards and 11 touchdowns in 12 games last season for the Miami Northwestern Bulls. Advertisement Considering how highly he's already viewed and the fact that he stands at 6-foot-5.5 and 190 pounds, Russell is the kind of player who could come in and compete for playing time as a true freshman. He could also add nicely to the already impressive 2026 recruiting class that Michigan and Moore have built up. It features 20 players, ranking No. 4 in the Big Ten and No. 11 in the nation. However, it will remain to be seen if this prediction becomes a reality, with the wide receiver set to announce his commitment at 9 p.m. ET Saturday.
