IndyCar Series Leaders Circle standings 2025
IndyCar's Leaders Circle program pays eligible teams just over $1 million the following season in guarantees. To qualify for one of the 22 spots, the entry must be associated with one of IndyCar's 25 charters — teams are allowed to have a maximum of three. Only Prema Racing's two cars remain unchartered. The 25 chartered cars are then ranked by entrant points and, at the end of this season, the top 22 eligible entries will be paid $1.2 million or more by Penske Entertainment throughout the 2026 season.

Honda's Big Electric SUV Is Reportedly Dead

There's been a noticeable shift in the automotive industry this year. Automakers are rethinking their roadmaps that had put them on a path toward full electrification. Electric vehicle adoption is slowing in the United States, and the federal tax incentives are set to disappear soon. That makes pouring billions of dollars into EV development even riskier for already strained auto companies, and that uncertainty is forcing some, like Honda , to pull the plug on developing some future models. The automaker has reportedly canceled plans for a large electric SUV. It was supposed to launch in 2027, but according to a new report from Nikkei Asia , Honda has halted development on the model and slashed how much it plans to spend on EVs through 2030. Photo by: Honda According to the publication, Honda will cut EV-related funding from ¥10 trillion ($68.6 billion at today's exchange rate) to ¥7 trillion ($48.0 billion). However, it's still planning to launch the flagship electric sedan and midsize SUV EVs that it showcased earlier this year with the 0 Series concepts (pictured above). They're scheduled to arrive next year. Honda had plans to launch seven EVs by 2030, but it's unclear how many of those are still in development. The automaker is reportedly shifting its focus to building more hybrids, which are already in development for America. The EV Pullback and the Combustion Comeback In the last six to nine months, automotive companies have had an epiphany and realized their EV plans don't align with consumer demand. In November 2024, Lotus canceled its proposal to go fully electric by 2028 . Instead, it will focus on hybrids, like Honda, and that's the direction many automakers are now heading. Porsche also announced it would shift to offering more hybrid options , admitting it would not achieve its initial goal of 80 percent of its sales to be fully electric by 2030. However, the German brand said it would continue to expand its EV lineup. Nissan scrapped plans for a small electric SUV in January, and in April, Mini said it wouldn't abandon gasoline engines anytime soon. Even Volvo has admitted defeat in achieving its EV plans. And then there are the companies trying to keep the combustion engines alive. BMW said the combustion engine is its " foundation ." Lamborghini is hopeful that synthetic fuels will happen , as its new V-8 can run on them without sacrificing performance. Mercedes-Benz is making a " course correction " to extend the life of its engines, and Audi has announced it will now build gas engines for another 10 years . If 2025 has proven anything, it's that the auto industry is facing a massive upheaval, and automakers are scrambling to navigate an ever-changing landscape unlike anything they have ever seen. Competition from China on electric vehicles is putting Western automakers in a difficult position as EV adoption begins to falter elsewhere. Plans are changing, and that means some automakers are closing the purse strings on EV investments as things change. New Orleans adds established veteran as Alvin Kamara backup

The post New Orleans adds established veteran as Alvin Kamara backup appeared first on ClutchPoints. The New Orleans Saints made headlines this offseason since they hired a new head coach in Kellen Moore after he won the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles. Then, they made headlines again after quarterback Derek Carr announced he was retiring from football due to a prolonged and nagging shoulder injury. It has been a rollercoaster offseason. But now, with mandatory minicamp underway, the headlines have shifted to more basic cuts or signings, including the recent signing of running back Cam Akers after a tryout. Advertisement Akers signed with the Saints after spending two practices during mandatory minicamp. He joins Alvin Kamara, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Kendre Miller, and rookie sixth-round pick Devin Neal in a crowded backfield. Kamara is easily the best running back on the roster, but the battle will be over who wins the job for the second string. The 2020 second-round pick turns 26 in June and still has plenty left in the tank as a running back in the NFL, but it might not be as a starter. The Los Angeles Rams drafted him, and after the 2023 season, traded him to the Minnesota Vikings. Then, Akers signed with the Houston Texans for the 2024-2025 season, but the Texans traded him to the Vikings in his second stint with the team halfway through the season. He finished the year with 104 carries and 444 rushing yards with two touchdowns. Then, he had 14 receptions for 68 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. Discussing the addition of Akers during Tuesday's media session, Moore complemented what he's seen from the veteran back, as he brings plenty of experience to the table. Advertisement 'Cam is an experienced player,' Moore said via CBS Sports. 'He's done a lot throughout this league. You're always trying to evaluate as many players as possible as you go through this. So we felt like it was a great opportunity, and we are fired up that he wanted to come out here.' His NFL career has been more bumpy than expected, especially after being a five-star recruit out of Mississippi and a standout at Florida State. In five NFL seasons, Akers has totaled 502 rushing attempts for 2,025 yards and 13 touchdowns, and he has also caught 52 passes for 388 yards and four touchdowns. The new-look Saints are in line to utilize their ground game even more without Carr. Tyler Shough, their rookie quarterback, is most likely starting under center, and he will need help to get acclimated to the NFL. Akers brings some nice experience to a running back room with multiple weapons. Cardinals get 2 crucial injury updates

The post Cardinals get 2 crucial injury updates appeared first on ClutchPoints. The St. Louis Cardinals' form lately has been up and down as of late. They were just swept by the Pittsburgh Pirates on the road. Before those three straight losses, they swept the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field. Those two results came after splitting a series with the Chicago Cubs at home, and on Friday, the Cardinals and Cubs will resume their intense rivalry. Before the series opener, Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak gave an update on a couple of injured contributors to the press, including the Athletic's Katie Woo on X, formerly Twitter. Advertisement 'John Mozeliak said today Iván Herrera (hamstring) is ramping up well and could begin a rehab assignment in roughly a week and a half & a post-ASB return is possible,' posted Woo on the social media platform. 'Also said Jordan Walker (appendicitis) will continue getting reps with Springfield but shouldn't be too long.' Getting both Herrera and Walker back would be very useful indeed. Herrera had taken over the starting catching job. Walker was starting to find his footing at the major league level. Both players will hopefully be long-term pieces for the franchise. Mozeliak hopes they will be a part of his legacy with St. Louis, as he's set to leave his current role after the season. Will Herrera and Walker be able to get back in time to help the Cardinals make a postseason push? Can Jordan Walker and Ivan Herrera help Cardinals after All-Star Break? Mandatory Credit: Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images Advertisement Herrera's Grade 2 left hamstring strain was a tough blow to the Cards when he went down a couple weeks ago. He'd really come into his own at the starting backstop and was building a good rapport with the pitching staff. Could St. Louis finally have Yadier Molina's heir apparent? Free agent Willson Contreras was supposed to fill that role, but now he's at first base. For now however, the Cardinals will have to do without him. As for Walker, his appendicitis was certainly an unexpected blow. Yet he's already rehabbing with Springfield in the minors, so don't be surprised if he does make his return before the All-Star Break. It is also possible that St. Louis decides to take a little more cautious route and bring their budding slugger back after the break. If Walker and Herrera can impact their postseason hopes, then the sooner the Cards get them back, the better.
