Ryan Gosling is not an astronaut in Project Hail Mary's first trailer

The Verge30-06-2025
Following the success of 2015's The Martian, Amazon MGM Studios has released the first trailer for Project Hail Mary based on another best-selling Andy Weir novel. The film features Ryan Gosling, who's entering his sci-fi era after being cast in Star Wars: Starfighter, as science teacher-turned-astronaut Ryland Grace who wakes up on a spaceship with no memory of who he is or why he's light years from Earth.
The trailer starts with a very bearded Grace waking up from a coma on a spaceship that he discovers is 11.9 light years from Earth. Through a series of flashbacks we learn that Earth's sun, as well as countless neighboring stars, are all dying as a result of a mysterious substance — except one. A reluctant Grace, who has a Doctorate in molecular biology, is recruited as an astronaut to visit this star and hopefully find out why it's not affected in an effort to save mankind.
But it turns out Earth isn't the only planet with a dying sun who has sent a savior to this star, and Grace finds himself meeting an alien ally who we only see brief glimpses of in this first trailer.
The film is produced and directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller who created the animated Spider-Verse franchise and who wrote and directed the original Lego movie. The Project Hail Mary novel was adapted by Drew Goodard (who previously adapted Weir's The Martian) and the film, which hits theaters on March 20th, 2026, also stars Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, and Milana Vayntrub.

Amazon MGM Studio's James Bond film names ‘Peaky Blinders' writer

The upcoming James Bond movie now has a writer attached to the project. Steven Knight, who has penned projects like Eastern Promises, Apple TV+'s See, Locke and Netflix's wildly popular Peaky Blinders series, was announced as the script writer on Thursday afternoon. He will join director Denis Villeneuve on the highly-anticipated project. David Heyman and Amy Pascal have signed on to produce the project, the first Bond movie in its new home at Amazon MGM Studios. Amazon acquired MGM in 20212, taking control of the extensive collection of 007 movies. It wasn't until February of 2025, however, that the studio was able to negotiate a deal for the rights to the creative control of the character. There has not been a new James Bond announced yet, but the search is apparently on. That hasn't stopped fans from coming up with their own theories on who could take over the mantle from Daniel Craig. Names like Idris Elba, Damson Idris, Callum Turner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James, Tom Holland, Jacob Elordi and Harris Dickinson have all been in the online conversation. Craig became Bond in 2006's Casino Royale and went on to star in five total movies as 007. His final outing as the dapper spy was in 2021 with No Time To Die.

Denis Villeneuve's New James Bond Movie Gets Beloved Writer

Denis Villeneuve's new movie has officially found a writer for the highly anticipated next entry in the James Bond universe. Who is writing the new James Bond movie? Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has been tapped to write the new James Bond movie. He'll join Villeneuve as yet another high-profile name to join the new film, which has yet to find a lead, despite countless reports suggesting various names for the new spy. Outside of Peaky Blinders, Knight has worked on countless projects throughout his career. His writing credits include films like Eastern Promises, Hummingbird, Locke, Seventh Son, Maria, and more. He's also one of the three creators of the original quiz show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? He most recently created the television show A Thousand Blows and was previously attached to a Star Wars movie. The James Bond franchise is now in the hands of Amazon MGM Studios following the shocking announcement earlier this year that longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson would be stepping back from their long-time status as producers on the franchise, allowing Amazon MGM Studios to take creative control of the franchise. The agreement sees Amazon MGM Studios and the duo forming a new joint venture house to house the intellectual property rights for the Bond franchise. The three parties will remain co-owners of the Bond series, but now Amazon MGM Studios will have creative control, something that Broccoli and Wilson had retained before. Prior to the announcement, both Wilson and Broccoli had been known as fiercely protective over the franchise, but in a statement on the move, Wilson noted that he was stepping back to focus more on art and charitable projects, while Broccoli said she would be focusing on other projects now. More information about the future of the James Bond franchise, as well as what the next film will be about, remains mysterious for now. Originally reported by Anthony Nash at SuperHeroHype. 21 Extremely Cool Dream Jobs That Actually Exist

I consider my job as a ✨professional BuzzFeed writer✨ to be a pretty freakin' cool job. Like, I get to yap on the internet all day about topics ranging from ancient history to Shrek — who else can say that? BUT, of course, there are tons of jobs out there that are more astonishing than they're always a blast to learn about. So recently, we asked the BuzzFeed Community, "What's the coolest job you've ever heard of?" and people replied with the most jaw-dropping, mind-boggling careers that actually exist. Yes, all of these are LEGIT jobs that REAL PEOPLE have. So for your daily dose of joy and inspiration, let's go over what people said: "Amenities tester. You travel to all kinds of spas and resorts, testing out their amenities. Pools, saunas, room service, massages, toiletries, complimentary food and beverage, concierge services, laundry and dry cleaning services — anything and everything you can think of. The most extravagant pampering, AND THEY PAY YOU TO DO IT!!!!" "Jeopardy! clue writer. I'd rock that one!" "Professional sleeper! They just sleep and get paid!" "I was a chocolate maker. It was as good as it sounds. I shouldn't have given it up." And similarly: "Chocolate taster. Husband of a friend of a friend, he quit that job after 8 years because he got sick of the taste of chocolate. I find that extremely hard to believe, but he swore it was true." "Nail polish namer. I actually contacted Revlon to see what job that was, I was told it's a product development specialist." "Voice acting." "Professional panda cuddler." "I know someone who crafts speciality cocktails for private jet guests. So she meets a bunch of celebs, makes drinks based on their tastes or themed to their work, and gets paid to travel the world. She always made it sound exhilarating!" "I used to work at a doggy daycare…best job ever!!!!" "When I was in special effects makeup school in Burbank, I always found working in prosthetic production labs to be fascinating. We had a lab class where we designed, sculpted, and made prosthetics. It was so fun." "Travel writer. It would be so cool to travel and write about beautiful islands and all the cool hidden gems around the world." "Film critic. I think that would be so fun!" "Two words: personal shopper!" "ICE CREAM TASTE TESTER!!! They travel for free, they taste ice cream, and they have to post on social media." "Hear me out though: roller coaster tester." "A friend's wife is a character designer for LEGO games." "Naming the Ben and Jerry's ice cream flavors!" "Exotic car builder. I'm not deep into car culture, but I appreciate the art, technology and craftsmanship of the special ones. Documentaries of exotic vehicle manufacturers like Bugatti always suck me in. The facilities are so gorgeous and purpose-built. The workers have time and appreciation for their skills. Building the engine, applying the seat and interior materials, painting, etc. Can't imagine having a job that satisfying." "I used to work with a guy whose wife is a silversmith — she MADE the Vince Lombardi trophy one year!" And finally: "Mad scientist. Because it really doesn't matter what you do or why you're doing it." And speaking of jobs: have you ever been fired from a job before? If you have, we wanna hear what happened!
