The MP met the minister in New Delhi on Wednesday and said that the upcoming Vande Bharat sleeper variant, set to be launched in Sept 2025, marks yet another milestone in providing world-class rail travel to the common citizen.
The Mangaluru and Bengaluru line is one of the most important intra-state corridors in Karnataka, connecting the coastal city of Mangaluru with the state capital. The route sees consistently high passenger demand from students, working professionals, tourists, and traders alike.
Currently, only a handful of overnight trains serve the busy route, and they are often fully booked well in advance. A Vande Bharat sleeper service would offer faster, safer, and more comfortable overnight travel, significantly improving connectivity and passenger experience, he said.
He appealed to the minister to include the Mangaluru-Bengaluru route among the priority corridors for the Vande Bharat sleeper express and direct the concerned officials to explore the operational and technical feasibility of the same. He discussed key rail infrastructure projects of the region, including the Hassan-Mangalore Railway Line Electrification, after which they look forward to a Mangaluru - Bengaluru Vande Bharat sleeper train.
