There's a new bar coming to Abu Dhabi on the iconic Yas Marina
Abu Dhabi, your nights out are about to get a chic French twist. Bar du Port, the glamorous Riviera-inspired brand that's already a hit in Dubai, Beirut, Doha, Byblos and Cairo, is finally making its way to the capital – and it's dropping anchor at Yas Marina before the end of the year. The new Bar du Port will take over the current Iris space, marking the end of an era for one of Abu Dhabi's most recognisable nightlife venues. But it's not goodbye – Iris has promised fresh plans on the horizon. For now, the waterfront spot is getting a full Bar du Port makeover, complete with laid-back Riviera flair, stylish interiors and an international crowd. What to expect Since its debut in Beirut nine years ago, Bar du Port has built a reputation for 'a little luxury, a lot of fun.' Think long lunches that flow seamlessly into lively evenings, Mediterranean-inspired menus and DJ-fuelled nights that keep the energy going until late. With Yas Marina already buzzing with entertainment and dining options, this addition feels like a natural fit – and a seriously stylish one at that. Set to launch in Q4 2025, Bar du Port is expected to open just in time for the busy race season. That means come F1 weekend, it could very well be one of the hottest tables – and dancefloors – in town. This is one we'll be watching closely. Chic, cosmopolitan and perfect for Abu Dhabi's evolving nightlife scene, Bar du Port looks set to become the city's new go-to for sundowners, dinner dates and late-night fun. Nippon TV announces Arabic adaptation of ‘Woman – My Life for My Children' by Medyapim
The new adapted series, titled 'Salma' will premiere on MBC1 and stream on Shahid. Medyapim's Arabic-language adaptation of Nippon TV's drama Woman – My Life for My Children is set to debut across the Middle East and North Africa on August 17, airing on MBC1 and streaming on Shahid. Titled Salma, the series spans 90 episodes and marks Medyapim's third drama for MBC, following earlier adaptations of BBC Studios' Doctor Foster and the Turkish hit War of the Roses. Based on the original drama penned by Yuji Sakamoto and produced by Hisashi Tsugiya, the story follows the struggles of a single mother whose unwavering love for her children drives her to persevere against overwhelming odds. Medyapim previously adapted the format in Turkey as Kadin, which ran for three seasons and sold to more than 60 international markets. Keisuke Miyata, Scripted Format Licensing at Nippon TV, said: 'The heartfelt story penned by Yuji Sakamoto and produced by Nippon TV has already reached the hearts of audiences in an astonishing 60-plus countries through the superb adaptation by Turkey's Medyapim. This time, we look forward that our story will reach deep into the souls of the Arabic audience through Salma. Salma's struggle to survive and to forge a path for herself as a woman amidst all odds and many tribulations will surely pull viewers deep into her life story that ultimately leads her to happiness because she followed the voice of her heart.' Fatih Aksoy, Chairman of Medyapim, added: 'When I first adapted Nippon TV's drama Woman in Turkey, it was my mother who inspired me at every step. In her strength, I saw the quiet resilience shared by millions of women like the one at the heart of this story. My mother was a Turkish woman of Arab descent. And now, to have brought this series to life once more in my mother's native language is profoundly exciting for me.' Tareq Al-Ibrahim, Director of MBC1, MBC Drama and SVOD content at Shahid, stated: 'This collaboration depicts the true power of storytelling that transcends borders and cultures. Salma is a meaningful example of how diverse voices can come together to create stories that resonate universally. Through Nippon TV and Medyapim, the series has honoured its Japanese roots and Turkish evolution, and now with MBC Group on board, we are excited to be bringing a local and authentic essence to Arab audiences. This production is proof of what can be achieved when creative forces from different parts of the world unite around a shared human experience.'

Where to get the best mocktails in Abu Dhabi
For cocktail lovers, Abu Dhabi's bar scene has options for days, but what about those of us who want all the flavour, hold the alcohol? Whether you're driving, detoxing, or just not into the booze scene, there's no reason your drink should feel 'basic'. Thankfully, more and more spots across the capital are taking their mocktails seriously; crisp, creative, and just as good as the real thing (if not better). From garden-inspired mixes to spice-laced refreshers, here's where to get the best Mocktails in Abu Dhabi when you want a proper drink minus the alcohol. La Petite Maison (LPM) This elegant French-Mediterranean spot at The Galleria ticks all the right boxes: refined interiors and water views from a dreamy terrace. But beyond the classics, LPM has quietly built one of the city's most impressive mocktail menus. It's 16 drinks deep, featuring everything from black lemonade to zero-proof espresso martinis. The Limonade Noire is a standout; rosemary-infused honey, verjuice, activated charcoal, and soda water. It's unexpected in the best way. On the lighter side, Pomme-Basilic mixes green apple cordial, fresh basil, and sparkling water. Location: La Petite Maison, The Galleria, Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi Times: Daily, 12pm to 1am, 12.30pm on weekends Contact: (02) 692 9600, @lpmabudhabi Oii Set within the dry but lively Al Qana precinct, Oii is a Mediterranean-inspired spot that puts just as much effort into its mocktails as it does its food. With a tagline like 'serving joy,' it makes sense that the drinks list leads with flavour. The mocktail menu is stacked with twelve originals, all equally photogenic and refreshing. Bird's Kiss is a grapefruit, elderflower, and butterfly pea tea blend. Skopelos Vibes channels island energy with passionfruit, pineapple, and ginger ale, while Porto goes peach and strawberry for something smooth and low-key. Location: Oii, Al Qana, Al Maqta' St, Rabdan, Abu Dhabi Times: Daily, 8am to 12am Contact: (02) 628 2983, @oiiabudhabi Mika Tucked into the waterfront at Yas Marina, Mika is a refined Mediterranean restaurant that brings subtle Middle Eastern influence into its kitchen and its drinks menu. With interiors that lean modern but relaxed and a stunning view, It's the kind of place that works just as well for a long lunch as it does for a laid-back dinner. Mocktails here anything but basic. Mika's 'art in a glass' philosophy means each non-alcoholic drink is carefully crafted from layered ingredients. Expect seasonal options, delicate garnishes, and flavour profiles that match the mood of the food. Inspired by 1920s Shanghai jazz lounges, it's got low lighting, deep booths, and an Asian bar menu to match the mood. When it comes to their signature mocktails; The Passion Boba is the standout: oolong tea, passionfruit, lime, and a handful of chewy boba pearls. It's sweet, layered, and playful. There are more signature refreshers on the menu too, perfect for those skipping the spirits but not the fun. It's got that laid-back-luxe energy, think sun-washed seating, mellow beats, and a menu that leans into Cuban. Great for a post-swim refresh or winding down with something cold in hand. The mocktail list is refreshing, with tropical flavours, citrusy mixers, and the kind of ice-cold energy you want when it's 40°C and rising. Ask the team for their seasonal picks or go classic with a Havana-inspired no-alcohol twist. The standout is the Aubin, passionfruit, whipped top, a hit of lime, smooth, fresh, and just a little bit extra. There's a small but confident list worth sipping your way through.
