As per a report by Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal, NASCAR Commissioner Steve Phelps has been linked to the vacant role of PGA Tour CEO.
Phelps took the newly formed role of NASCAR Commissioner last month, after holding the role of NASCAR President since 2018. He commented at the time of the announcement:
"I'm honored to take this next step in helping to guide NASCAR, the sport I've loved since my father took me to my first race at 5 years old, continue to grow and welcome new fans, competitors and partners that together create some of the most extraordinary moments in sports.

Stern stated:
"The tour's search committee is likely drawn by Phelps' role in re-energizing NASCAR since he took over the stock car racing circuit in 2018, and he holds great respect across the sports business community."
However, Stern added that Phelps will still likely stay in NASCAR for "years to come." He continued:
"His level of interest in the role could not be immediately established, and he thus could wind up staying at NASCAR for years to come, as he is a hardcore fan of NASCAR and has great passion for the sport."
PGA Tour Enterprises has been on the hunt for a new CEO since January 2024. PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan commented in December 2024:
"Everything is on the table.
"We're bringing new perspectives on to our team to help us realize the incredible opportunities ahead for our sport, including launching a search for a CEO of the PGA Tour.
"We can learn so much from across the world of sport and entertainment, and I'm excited to meet candidates for this important new role."

Rose can never be counted out at this point in his career, especially at a place where he's come in 22nd and 20th the last two years, with an 11th-place showing in 2019. He nearly won the Masters and finished 16th at the Open Championship, so he's been in good form. WATCH: Get ESPN+ FedEx St. Jude Championship – Matchups Suggested play is golfer in bold. Justin Thomas (+105) vs. Russell Henley (-135) Thomas is a former champion and could be poised to go on a run in the playoffs. His worst finish in this event since 2019 is 26th, so his floor should be fairly high. FedEx St. Jude Championship – Top English Fleetwood is the favorite in this market over Matt Fitzpatrick (+250) and Aaron Rai (+300), and he should be. He's played great all year and while he doesn't have a win, he has been in contention. FedEx St. Jude Championship – Top Korean It's Im vs. Si Woo Kim (-125) in this market as the only two Koreans in the field. Take the underdog Im at a course where he's played well before. New Jersey native Jen Pawol will make history this weekend as the first woman to umpire a game in Major League Baseball. She will be on the bases during a doubleheader on Saturday between the Braves and Marlins at Truist Park in Atlanta and behind the plate for the series finale on Sunday. Pawol, 48, was born and raised in West Milford, N.J., before playing softball and soccer at Hofstra University on Long Island. He doesn't see playing both ways working out for Hunter. During an appearance on the "Pivot" podcast, Adams made his thoughts clear. "I don't even think it's possible to do, for real," Adams said. "Not at a high level. Once you get out there playing both sides, now you have to tackle. You've got to tackle Derrick Henry with that frame." Adams makes a good point. Thinking about Hunter trying to take down Derrick Henry does not sound like a pretty sight. However, he is going to give it a shot. Defensively, he totaled 35 tackles, a forced fumble, four interceptions, and 11 defended passes. Hunter doesn't let doubters bother him. Now, he simply has an NFL star to prove wrong.
