Arsenal clearout – Five Gunners stars on the chopping block
Per the Evening Standard, the Serie A giants will pour around £5.9-6.7million to activate the buyout clause in the loan agreement.
Tavares joined Lazio last summer and has since become one of the most highly rated wing-backs in Italian football.
Only Christian Pulisic and Romelu Lukaku have bettered Tavares' tally of eight assists in Serie A this term, hence Lazio's decision to make his transfer permanent.
Whether the 25-year-old would stay at Stadio Olimpico remains questionable, considering Marco Baroni's charges are contemplating an immediate sale to make instant profit.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will reap further benefits from Tavares' potential exit after including a sell-on clause, which would entitle them to around 25 per cent from any future sale.
In addition to Tavares, the Gunners could offload five more players in the coming months to top up their transfer budget.
Let's see who could leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Courted by Borussia Dortmund in January, Oleksandr Zinchenko could be among the first first-team stars to follow in Tavares' footsteps.
His contract in North London runs out next summer, with Arsenal reluctant to offer him fresh terms after he failed to impress Arteta.
The 28-year-old has only made 14 Premier League appearances this season.
Low in the pecking order, Zinchenko may favour a summer exit to secure regular first-team football elsewhere.
Arsenal paid Manchester City around £32m to sign the Ukrainian star in 2022, but they can hardly expect to recoup their investment.
When Kieran Tierney joined Arsenal in 2019, everyone thought he would be Ashley Cole's long-lost successor.
However, recurring injury problems have derailed his career at the Emirates, making him a bit-part player in Arteta's system.
Tierney even spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad as a last-ditch attempt to get his faltering career back on track.
After a miserable stint in San Sebastian, he couldn't land a new deal in London and will leave Arsenal as a flop this summer.
His former club, Celtic, will land him on a Bosman deal.
Another player with an expiring contract, Jorginho is on the verge of waving goodbye to the Emirates.
Though Arteta forced the Italian midfielder's stay last summer despite Napoli's interest, the veteran has failed to repay that trust throughout the campaign.
Jorginho has been a marginal figure this season, making just nine Premier League starts without any goal contribution.
As such, his time in London is nearing its end, with Brazilian powerhouse Flamengo bidding to take the 33-year-old across the Atlantic.
Unlike all the abovementioned stars, Leandro Trossard has been among Arteta's most trusted allies during Arsenal's injury-riddled campaign.
The Belgian forward has featured in 36 league matches this term, tallying eight goals and seven assists.
Despite his decent exploits, Trossard could soon cut short his life in the Premier League to embrace the riches of Saudi Arabia.
Several Saudi Pro League clubs were hot on the 30-year-old's trail last summer, yet Arsenal refused to negotiate his departure.
Things could change this year as Arteta aims to overhaul his squad after falling short of Premier League glory for a third season running.
Thomas Partey's future has been a subject of intense discussions all season.
While Arteta reiterated his desire to continue with the ex-Atletico Madrid midfielder several times, the parties are still at loggerheads over a new deal.
Partey's contract is due to expire in June, and it feels like he's closer to leaving Arsenal than pledging his loyalty to the club.
There's no shortage of interest in the Ghanaian ace, who has numerous admirers across the continent, not to mention overseas.

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in a deal worth £5million. Follow all the latest news, rumours, gossip, and done deals The move marks the end of Kepa's seven-year spell on the books at Chelsea, where he became a Champions League, Europa League, and Club World Cup winner. His 2018 move from Athletic Club to Stamford Bridge, worth £72m, marked him the most expensive goalkeeper of all time. He fell out of favour in his final years with the Blues, spending loan spells with Real Madrid and Bournemouth. He kept nine clean sheets in 35 appearances for the Cherries last season. Kepa becomes the first formal Arsenal signing of the summer, though the Gunners are soon expected to confirm the arrivals of Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard. Mikel Arteta is also expected to add a striker, with Benjamin Sesko or Viktor Gyokeres both of interest. Liverpool continue huge summer spend as Milos Kerkez completes £40m move from Bournemouth
Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Milos Kerkez (Liverpool FC via Getty Images) Liverpool have confirmed the signing of left-back Milos Kerkez. The Reds agreed a £40million deal with Bournemouth last week, and Kerkez has now put pen to paper on a five-year contract. The 21-year-old flew in on Monday to undergo the first part of his medical tests and then completed those on Tuesday before the official announcement came on Thursday morning. Advertisement Regarding the move, the Hungary international said: "I'm really happy. It's a real honour for me, a privilege to come to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, [the] biggest club in England. I'm just really, really happy and excited. "After this, I'll go home and in my hometown enjoy a few days, and then I can't really wait to come back and put the training kit on and start to train and prepare for the season." "I just want to thank everyone for really showing me big love, even before it will be announced now. "And keep supporting the team like you support always, because you're the biggest fan base in the world. Advertisement "I'm going to give everything – absolutely everything – to win trophies with the club and to hopefully score some goals at Anfield. I can't wait to hear the roar. And see you soon." Milos Kerkez is officially a Liverpool player (Liverpool FC via Getty Images) Kerkez's arrival continues what has already been a busy summer for the Premier League champions. Liverpool acted quickly to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold after his departure to Real Madrid, with Jeremie Frimpong brought in for £29.5m. Frimpong's former Bayer Leverkusen team-mate Florian Wirtz has joined him at Anfield, after the Reds agreed a club record £116m deal for the German. The signing of Kerkez has raised speculation over the future of Andy Robertson. Recent reports have suggested that Atletico Madrid are keen to bring the left-back to Spain if he does decide to leave Liverpool this summer.

'What a journey': Arsenal fans sent emotional message as summer exit confirmed
Moving on: Kieran Tierney is leaving Arsenal after six years this summer, rejoining former club Celtic (Getty Images) Kieran Tierney has bid an emotional farewell to Arsenal after rejoining Celtic. The Scottish left-back is departing north London this summer after six years following the expiration of his contract, one of 20 players released by the Gunners across their men's, women's and youth teams. Advertisement Tierney had long since been linked with a return to Celtic, where he previously spent 14 years, graduated from the academy and made 170 senior appearances before leaving for Arsenal in a £25million deal in 2019, winning eight domestic trophies in total. That homecoming has now been officially announced, with the defender penning a five-year contract to head back to Glasgow and rejoin a dominant Brendan Rodgers side who almost won another domestic treble this season, only to be dramatically pipped to Scottish Cup glory by Aberdeen in extra time. Tierney has now written a heartfelt goodbye to Arsenal after that move was confirmed, writing on social media: 'Full of emotions these last few weeks! To be part of this special club for 6 years has meant so much to me and I'm grateful for every single second of it. 'To every member of staff and team mate I've had the pleasure of working with, thank you for everything you've done for me. I'm so lucky to have worked with many amazing people who I learned so much from and helped me every day. Advertisement 'To the fans, what a journey these last 6 years have been. All I can really say is thank you for the support and love you've given me through the good and the bad times. 'I appreciated everything and never took any of it for granted. It's been fun. North London forever.' Tierney was initially a mainstay at left-back after joining Arsenal, forming a key part of the side that lifted the FA Cup under Mikel Arteta in 2019/20, their last major trophy, as well as winning two Community Shields as he made 144 total appearances across all competitions. However, he also struggled with injury and ended up slipping down the defensive pecking order under Arteta, who replaced him with Oleksandr Zinchenko as his new first-choice left-back in the summer of 2022. Tierney, who earned his 50th international cap for Scotland last week, spent time out on loan in Spain with Real Sociedad last season, returning to Arsenal and being limited to just 20 outings this term, only four of which were starts.
