Primetime 585 Spotlight Team: HF-L girls lacrosse
After securing the program's 15th sectional title in 18 years, the Primetime 585 Spotlight Team of the Week is the HF-L girls lacrosse team.
The Cougars earned a brick by defeating Pal-Mac 9-6 in the Class C championship game.
'All of these kids are my own kids, and my husband feels the same way,' assistant coach Aria Goodberlet said. 'Every kid on this team, we treat every kid like they're our own. It's a blessing to watch these girls grow and see what they're capable of.'
Freshman Harper Jacob, an All-Tournament selection, led the way for the Cougars with three goals to earn 84 points so far this season.
Junior Shaye Angelo, committed to Duke University, scored two goals and was named tournament MVP. Angelo has been playing varsity since eighth grade and has a season-high 137 points going into regionals.
'Everyone tonight stepped up, played their role,' Angelo said. 'We had some awesome plays by younger classmen. Everyone played their role and we came together tonight.'
Senior Caroline Smith has also been a force on defense for HF-L this season. After the win, Smith talked about HF-L's lacrosse dynasty, as the boys also ended this season with a sectional title.
'It's very special. I think it says a lot about our program, about how everyone is just one big family and just hard workers,' Smith said.
Head coach Kristin Butka coached the junior varsity team for 15 years, but this year is her first season at the helm of the varsity program.
'Being a part of this program for 15 years, I've gotten to see each and every one of these girls grow from when they're itty-bitty and grow into these amazing young women,' Butka said. 'They truly played for each other tonight. Watching them put pieces together and pulling out the win at the end against a very strong Pal-Mac team, I could not be more proud of this team.'

Lawrence valedictorian and athlete credits the Boys and Girls Club for his success
This week's BZ MVP of the Week is the brother of an MVP from last year and like him, he credits the Boys and Girls Club in Lawrence, Massachusetts for his success. Argenis Luciano has always followed in the footsteps of his brother, Obbie. When he was 7 years old, he followed him to the Lawrence Boys and Girls Club. Class of 2025's valedictorian "He was my inspiration. I've always seen him doing his thing on the basketball court," said Luciano. "And that led me to try basketball and then to go on to be in the Homework Room a lot and that's where I met Jonathan Glesmann." Luciano said the Homework Room is what made him who he is. "The constant focus on homework and education is in this room," said Glesmann, a volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club. "Us volunteers, we stress that too. We hold education on a very high level. And it'll solve a lot of problems, not only personally, but in the world." Luciano's education path led him to become valedictorian of Lawrence High School's Class of 2025. "It was a lot of hardship and a lot of sacrifice that I had to make. But with my great support system, I was able to go through with it," said Luciano. When he was asked what made him get better with academics, he said, "Failing. I learned that failure is a step to grow." Luciano said his inspiration is his family, brothers Obbie and Delvis Roman and his sister Clairis. His father Nairobert owns a barbershop and his mother Rosa works two jobs. "Seeing my mom struggle with bills, you know, there's just financial pressures that are overwhelming on her," said Luciano. "So I try to help out as much as I can. They mean everything to me. I mean, that's my family. I love them. So everything I do is in honor of them." Heading to Brown on track and field scholarship Luciano is on the track and field team, where he throws discus. Last week, he captured the Division I State Championship at Tufts University. Quite a feat considering he didn't pick up a discus until his freshman year, at the urging of his health teacher. "It's about discipline, it's about repetition, it's about being coachable," said Lawrence High School teacher and throwing coach Angel Pabon. "And he's very coachable and he listens very well." When asked how far he thinks Luciano can go in life, Pabon said, "I don't think there's a limit for him." "His leadership ability is second to none. He's been incredible in bringing along our younger athletes," said Lawrence High School track and field head coach Jonathan Manuel Speing. "And just, as a competitor, I've never met anybody more competitive than him." Luciano has also been named the Lawrence Boys and Girls Club's Youth of the Year. After watching his brother Obbie earn a scholarship to Yale University last year, he will be heading to Brown University in the fall on a track and field scholarship. "They are such great role models for the rest of the kids here at the club, right?" said Markus Fischer, the executive director of the Lawrence Boys and Girls Club. "It shows them that this can be done. If you're applying yourself, you're working hard, staying focused. You can accomplish things."

The AFC East as a division has had a "boogeyman" of sorts over the last few decades. And the Buffalo Bills' signal-caller Allen has been the man man in the division for the last five seasons. Allen is 23-11 against the rest of the division as a starting quarterback. Those may not be Brady-like numbers, but they certainly show how good Allen has been over the last few years in the division. It's also why Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report highlighted Allen as the "main obstacle facing every NFL starting quarterback in 2025," for the Miami Dolphins specifically. While he acknowledged that health was a major concern for Miami, the Bills and Allen were a big part of it. Advertisement "Kind of obvious, right? But it's got to be that or the Buffalo Bills," Gagnon said. Miami, incredibly, is just 2-15 in their last 17 games against Allen and the Bills. It won't get any easier this season, either. Oh, and note this: It's also not like the rest of the division hasn't struggled against Buffalo. As the Bills prepare for a run at a Super Bowl this season, winning the division is always the first step. And with where Allen stands, it seems like he's in a position to win a sixth-straight division title going into the 2025 season. ... because he's the new bogeyman. Originally a second-round pick by the New York Jets, Moore has played with a multitude of quarterbacks each season he has been in the league. Advertisement That may change in 2025, though. Moore signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills this offseason. Instead of playing with quarterbacks like Zach Wilson or Deshaun Watson, Moore gets to play with the reigning league MVP in Josh Allen. And he couldn't be more thrilled. "Buffalo already has been nothing but great to me already," Moore said on X. "This place really takes care of their people." Moore later went on after OTAs on Tuesday with WGR 550 in Buffalo to discuss how important it was to go to a place with an established signal-caller. And Allen is as good as it gets at the quarterback position. Advertisement "When I wasn't in, I was just watching him, because obviously I'm on the other side of it now," Moore said. "I've been playing against him for going into four years now, and it just looked better now that he's on my side. The balls were pretty. The way that he practices, he jokes around, but at the same time, he's locked in." Moore can be a very impactful player for Buffalo over the next few months. That much is obvious. The Bills do not have a sure-fire No. 1 receiver on the roster right now. Could Moore grow to be that? Only time will tell, but having a good quarterback throwing him the ball should help in that regard.
