Sky's latest iPhone 16e deal works out at 6p per day - here's how
Sky Mobile has launched a new contract deal on Apple's iPhone 16e. The network provider is rolling out a 24-month contract on the device for £18 per month, working out at 6p per day based on a 30-day calendar month.
There's also no upfront cost to pay for the device, meaning shoppers don't have to part with hundreds all at once. The deal is based on an iPhone 16e with 128GB of storage.
The cheapest plan is currently the 10GB data option, with prices starting at £1 for the first three months and increasing to £14 thereafter. This is ontop of the £18 per month device cost.
Sky recommends its 3GB data plan as a 'great value' choice. For £22, consumers can opt for the unlimited data plan.
In terms of specs, the iPhone 16e has a 6.1‑inch Super Retina, a 26-hour battery life, and an additional 11 hours of video playback. When there isn't a mobile service or Wi-Fi nearby, iPhone 16e can connect users to a satellite.
For customers who prefer buying their phones outright, the official Apple storefront on Amazon has the iPhone 16e (128GB) for £544, down from £599. The larger storage option of 256GB, the price is £632.97.
Elsewhere, it is a big day for Galaxy fans as Samsung releases its new phones—the Z Fold7 and the Z Flip7 for all UK shoppers, including at retailer mobiles.co.uk. However, it is worth noting that the cheaper monthly deals come with hefty upfront costs.
On the iPhone 16e, tech editor Dave Snelling says: "Don't think that a more budget-friendly price means bargain basement features, as there is plenty to like about the 2025 iPhone 16e. Firstly, it finally ditches the bezels found on the original SE and gets an all-screen finish instead. That means the end of the Touch ID fingerprint scanner, with the 16e getting Face ID technology instead.
"This lets users unlock the bigger 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR screen and make payments just by staring at the front-facing camera. It's made from tough stuff and should survive years stuffed in pockets thanks to Apple's Ceramic Shield technology and a waterproof design."
Consumers new to Sky Mobile can find reviews and ratings of its service via Trustpilot. One person said: "I was with EE and the prices kept increasing. I switched to Sky and although the O2 signal is not the best.
"The SIM only plan is £4.50 a month. I have moved the household over to SKY so we can share the data we have banked."
Another user reported issues with Sky Mobile when it was time to upgrade, writing: "Placed my order but failed the credit check stage and they could not tell me why. Went elsewhere and got the phone I wanted at the contract I wanted with no delay. Shame because I had liked Sky Mobile up until that point."
An additional Sky Mobile user concluded: "Called up to cancel a SIM as the contract had come to an end. Spoke with a really, really nice guy named Jack. He is the epitome of customer service! Went above and beyond."

US defense bill proposes examination of Apple display supplier
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug 1 (Reuters) - A measure added into a massive U.S. defense spending bill in recent weeks will, if passed, ask the Pentagon to determine whether one of Apple's (AAPL.O), opens new tab display suppliers should be listed as a Chinese military company. Being on the list does not block companies from doing business in the U.S. but will in coming years block them from being part of the U.S. military's supply chain. The bill, known as the National Defense Authorization Act, was approved in July by key committees in both houses of the U.S. Congress. The final bill, considered a "must-pass" because it funds the U.S. military, is expected to become law later in the year. When the bill was approved by the U.S. House of Representatives Armed Services Committee, a newly added amendment for the first time asked the U.S. Defense Department to consider, opens new tab whether BOE Technology Group Co , listed on Apple's official suppliers list, should be added to a list of firms that allegedly aid China's military. BOE and Apple did not respond to requests for comment. Craig Singleton, a China expert at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a Washington think-tank, said Beijing had offered billions of dollars in subsidies, tax breaks and loans to help firms such as BOE dominate global panel production. "This creates a single‑source vulnerability that could be easily exploited to disrupt or degrade U.S. military operations, not to mention undermine commercial supply chains, during a conflict or period of heightened bilateral tension with Beijing," Singleton added. A study published last month by New York-based NERA Economic Consulting and commissioned by BOE's U.S. subsidiary found that the display industry, which includes major Korean players such as Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, remains highly competitive, with no single player capable of significantly affecting global prices. "There is no credible risk of a supply chain disruption by mainland China display manufacturers," the report said.

Shoppers can snap up brand new Samsung Galaxy Watch7 for only 30p a day in Sky deal
This deal is perfect for those who want to spread the cost on this high quality smartwatch. It is an exciting time for everyone when the latest line of tech from a brand hits the market. While some people have been waiting in anticipation to get their hands on the newest high quality gadgets, others look forward to the time of year for a different reason. With Samsung launching their new range of high spec tech last month - the Flip7, Fold 7 and the Watch8 - many savvy shoppers have been waiting for the price of their other devices to go down in price. With a range of different retailers hosting discounts and monthly spending plans, now is the best time for shoppers to have a look around. One cracking deal we found is on the Samsung Galaxy Watch7, which was only released in 2024 and was the tech brand's flagship smartwatch until the Watch8 was released on July 25. While the gadget retails for £239 outright, Sky's monthly deal means shoppers will only need to spend pennies each day on the device. Sky is currently offering the 40mm version of the Watch7 for only £9 per month through a 36-month contract. When broken down this means that shoppers will only need to pay 30p a day towards their latest tech device, which will be up to date with all Samsung's latest features. However, while this plan has zero per cent interest rate with no surprise price hikes to hit mid-contract, this plan will add an extra £95 to the overall cost of the smartwatch compared to paying for it outright, reports the Manchester Evening News. It should also be noted that Samsung describes the Watch7 as more of a fitness and wellness tracker rather than a traditional smartwatch. However, this doesn't mean the device will only track your health and fitness, as shoppers will still be able to access their calls, texts and other notifications through the gadget. Samsung Galaxy Watch7 £9 per month Buy Now Buy Now Product Description Featuring an improved dual GPS system, this watch is perfect for those who enjoy running and cycling as they can upload their data to specialist apps such as Komoot and Strava. Additionally, users will also be able to track their blood pressure, ECG and heart rate at all times. One important feature that will help users prioritise their health is what Samsung is calling an 'energy score'. By compiling data collected from your heart rate and sleep, this feature will roughly let you know how energised you are at different points of the day. This can help users decide whether completing a workout is a good idea or not. For those not fussed about all of the high spec features that come with fitness trackers, many shoppers have instead chosen to buy a budget smartwatch through Amazon. One popular device with nearly 18,000 ratings is the RUIMEN Smart Watch. Currently priced at £24.99 (RRP £39.99), this watch comes with all of your standard features. Alternatively, another popular fitness tracker on the market is the Fitbit Versa 4 Smart Watch. Retailing at £129.99 on Argos, this watch comes with a battery life of up to six days and is compatible with both Android and iOS devices. Many shoppers are still raving over the Galaxy Watch7 on Amazon, where it currently boasts a 4.4 star rating. One delighted shopper said: "Great piece of kit. Ive previously owned many watches, including apple watches. Have to say this is the best of the lot... works great as a health tracker too. Love the health app too." While another five-star reviewer added: "This is a great watch from samsung, well designed with many different functions installed. Works well with my Samsung Galaxy S21 phone, and interacts perfectly with the Samsung Health app. The battery is good under constant use, normall lasting around three days." However, one shopper did caution: "It's brilliant, just make sure you use power saving mode." With another customer leaving a mixed review: "The watch itself is sleek, and the features are solid, but I do wish there were more apps available for it. As someone who's used both Galaxy Watches and an Apple phone, I can't help but feel like the app selection is better on the iPhone side." Despite this, a fifth shopper wrote: "Great watch with good range of inbuilt functions. 40mm is very light, do not notice on wrist comfortable band. Better battery life than watch3, fast charge up. What's not to like." To pay only pennies a day for the Samsung Galaxy Watch7, click HERE. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
