What Did We Think Of Alan Ritchson's Batman Audition In ‘Reacher' Season 3?
Reacher
Reacher continues to be one of Amazon Prime Video's most popular series, seemingly greenlit indefinitely with endless source material, and a relatively cheap production that almost never leaves the service's top 10 list.
Most of that is due to its enigmatic star, Alan Ritchson, the hulking drifter who punches and reasons his way through crimes and murders as he wanders the earth. The show has just finished up season 3 this past week and boy, did that entire thing feel like a giant audition for Batman.
I'm not bringing this up randomly, Ritchson has said outright that he wants to play Bruce Wayne/Batman in James Gunn's new DCU. Here's him in an interview with THR:
'I would love to play Batman. There, I said it. I'll shout it from the rooftops—'I want to be Bruce Wayne!'" Then, he went on to tell Wired recently that 'You wouldn't even have to play me' to take the role.
Ritchson is no stranger to superhero parts, previously playing fellow Justice League member Aquaman all the way back in Smallville. Then, Hawk in the Titans series. He was killed off there, presumably to go start up Reacher.
Season 3 of Reacher very much felt like a way to expand Reacher's 'detective' powers without relying on big choreographed fight scenes every other episode. He's constantly intutively finding small clues that leads him to uncovering secrets and tracking down a missing girl. But the season ends with a fight against the 7'2 Olivier Richters which I mean, that's Batman versus Bane for you.
Reacher season 3
I don't actually know if that was Ritchson's intent this season, but I am reminded of something similar that just happened with Aaron Pierre, who starred in Rebel Ridge, which is more or less a storyline identical to a Reacher plot. A month later, he was cast as Green Lantern in the DCU. So if he can do it, what about Ritchson?
The most obvious pushback about Ritchson is his size. But a few things there. First, there are many instances of 'Big Batman' in the comics. Ben Affleck played a version of that in the DCEU, and now 'Absolute Batman' in the comics is a brick wall. And a larger Batman would be a stark contrast to The Batman's Batman, Robert Pattinson.
Second, yes, Alan Ritchson is probably the most jacked mainstream actor alive. But his bio puts him at 'only' 6'3, and shots are sometimes angled to make him look taller (book Reacher is 6'5). And he would be shorter than Superman's David Corenswet, who is 6'4 (the tallest Superman ever cast).
The Batman
I don't know how I feel about Ritchson as Batman. I think with his size and being 42 would distance himself from Pattinson (yes, Pattinson is 38 but playing a much younger Batman). But there is more to being cast as Batman than just wanting it very badly and showing off your potential bat-skills in a show. No doubt he's under consideration, but given that the DCU's Brave and the Bold doesn't even have a release window yet, it may be some time before we figure out if this could actually happen or not.

Peacemaker season 2 finally has a teaser trailer – here are 3 things you need to know about the hit Max show's return
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. It's official: Peacemaker season 2 will be streaming on Max from Thursday, August 21 at 9.00pm ET/PT. John Cena will be back as the titular hero, and many villains' butts will be kicked. The official synopsis says: "The new season follows Christopher 'Chris' Smith, aka Peacemaker, the vigilante Super Hero as he struggles to reconcile his past with his newfound sense of purpose while continuing to kick righteous evil-doer butt in his misguided quest for peace at any cost." Season 1 stars John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Steve Agee and Robert Patrick are all back, and this time around they're joined by a new cast that includes by Frank Grillo, David Denman, Sol Rodriguez, and Tim Meadows. As you'll see from the trailer below, the second season looks set to deliver one of the best Max show's trademark mix of whip-cracking action and whip-smart wisecracking. Here's what you need to know. One of the problems facing season 2 is that it's in a different universe to season 1: James Gunn set Peacemaker season 1 in the DC Extended Universe, which is now gone, so season 2 takes place in the DCU. That raises lots of questions, which we've explained in our in-depth hub (linked above). It looks like at least part of the answer is at the end of the trailer, which shows not only Peacemaker but also... Peacemaker. If they aren't the DCU Peacemaker and the DCEU Peacemaker then we'll be amazed. In the trailer we see Peacemaker auditioning very uncomfortably for Maxwell Lord's Justice League, while Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl look on. Presumably this was filmed during production of Superman, which means we shouldn't expect them to play a huge part in season 2. But it's interesting because this Justice League is much more fun than the DCEU one, especially in its portrayal of Hawkgirl. It looks like Flagg Sr. is going to be a key character in season 2 after his starring role in the Creature Commandos animated series, and he's got very good reasons to go after Peacemaker: in The Suicide Squad (spoiler alert!), Peacemaker killed his son. That makes him more nuanced than the usual superhero show villain: he's not a monster; he's a grieving parent. Going by this new trailer there's lots to be excited about, so August can't come soon enough. Season 2 of Peacemaker will be streaming on Max from August 21 and will see Rick Flag Sr "on a mission" for justice. The first season of Peacemaker is streaming on Max in the US and Now in the UK. Peacemaker season 2 release date finally confirmed as new footage of popular HBO TV show revealed in Max sizzle reel trailer What is the release date and time for The Last of Us season 2 episode 5? Max's password sharing crackdown will take a while before it goes 'full steam', WBD says

Amazon Prime Video Cancels Fan-Favorite Series After 3 Seasons
It looks like another fan-favorite Amazon Prime Video series has come to an end. This time the streaming platform decided this show was concluded after airing 3 seasons on their streaming platform. It looks like it took Amazon Prime 'lengthy deliberations' to come to this decision. The economic environment just wasn't feasible enough to keep this series going, apparently, as 'the streamer's executives' are said to have liked the series 'creatively.' While the series initially performed well, it seems as though ratings began to slip during its third season, leading to this tough decision. Though because they knew the end was coming, it's been said that 'the Season 3 finale was designed to offer some closure.' While fans would have no doubt liked to have had more seasons to continue the story – it's nice that the series will offer some kind of conclusion. As shared via Deadline: 'Prime Video will not be renewing The Wheel of Time for a fourth season. The decision, which comes more than a month after the Season 3 finale was released April 17, followed lengthy deliberations.' It's certainly an unfortunate announcement as The Wheel of Time had plenty of potential to continue running on the platform. The series, based on the book series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, is a fantasy drama that became Prime Video's most watched series premiere in 2021. It was also one of the Top 5 series launches of all time for Amazon Prime. As such, fans can continue to watch the existing three seasons of The Wheel of Time on Amazon Prime. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional streaming and television updates as we have them. It's certainly become a tough industry for high-concept shows like this to thrive, but at least fans got a worthwhile three seasons out of this particular property.
