Viktor Gyokeres: Liverpool to launch eleventh-hour hijack bid for Man United and Arsenal striker target

Yahoo13 hours ago
Liverpool are preparing a sensational hijack of Arsenal and Manchester United's move for Viktor Gyokeres as Arne Slot continues his dramatic summer squad overhaul.
The Swede, who scored 54 goals in all competitions last season, has been at the centre of an extended and acrimonious transfer saga this summer. He has made no secret of his desire to move to the Premier League, publicly sparring with the Sporting hierarchy who stand in his way.

Standard Sport understands Arsenal and Man United had been leading the race for Gyokeres, but Liverpool's sudden interest will disrupt their negotiations.
According to Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha, Gyokeres has been earmarked as an ideal replacement for the misfiring Darwin Nunez, who is set to join Napoli this summer.
The report claims that Liverpool have asked their representatives to confirm Sporting's asking price, thought to be €80m (£68.4m). No offer has yet been made.
That price is well within Liverpool's means amid reports the Reds could spend a further £200m this summer without violating profit and sustainability rules.

Arsenal offered €55m plus €10m in add-ons earlier this month, and are not thought to be interested in improving on that offer. They are also in talks to sign RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko, though his wage demands have caused a slowdown in negotiations.
Gyokeres reportedly informed his inner circle that he had chosen to join Arsenal last week, but could be tempted away from the Emirates by Liverpool's offer.
To play Champions League football is his priority, though, and Liverpool may present a better shot at lifting the title as they invest heavily in squad development this summer.
They broke the British transfer record to bring in Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen earlier this month in a deal which will total £116m if add-ons are triggered.

The Reds are also reported to be interested in Alexander Isak as a Nunez replacement, but would require a bid in the region of £150m to unseat him from Newcastle. Other striker targets include Hugo Ekitike and Victor Osimhen.
Lyon winger Malick Fofana and Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi are also on their shortlist.

Polestar Automotive (PSNY) Jumps 6.5% on Improving Global Trade

Polestar Automotive Holding UK PLC (NASDAQ:PSNY) is one of . Polestar Automotive rebounded by 6.54 percent on Tuesday to close at $1.14 apiece as investors cheered the European Union's (EU) supposed approval of President Donald Trump's trade arrangement, as the deadline for a trade deal with the US looms for the bloc. According to a report by Bloomberg, the EU would accept Trump's 10-percent universal tariff on all US imports, but wants Washington to commit to lower rates on key sectors such as pharmaceuticals, alcohol, semiconductors, and commercial aircraft. The EU was said to be pushing the US for quotas and exemptions to effectively lower the 25-percent tariff on automobiles and car parts, as well as the 50-percent tariff on steel and aluminum imports. Investors took the development positively, spilling over to Europe-based companies, including Polestar Automotive Holding UK PLC (NASDAQ:PSNY), as the bloc scrambles to reach a trade agreement by the July 9 deadline. Arsenal, PSG Transfer Target Makes €3.2M Wage Demand to Valencia

PSG could be heading into a transfer battle with Arsenal, AC Milan, Juventus, and Real Madrid for one of Spain's most promising young defenders. But Arsenal have already taken the early lead, reportedly reaching a personal agreement with the player. Despite boasting one of Ligue 1's top defenses last season, PSG's backline is beginning to show signs of wear. Lucas Hernandez has returned to action but is still working his way back from a serious injury. Marquinhos remains a vocal leader, though he's lost some of the explosiveness that once defined his game. Advertisement Presnel Kimpembe continues to play an important role off the pitch, but concerns about his fitness linger. Luis Enrique is encouraged by Lucas Beraldo's progress, but for now, the Brazilian is still viewed as a rotational option rather than a regular starter. Arsenal, PSG target's agent makes demand to ValenciaAccording to a report from Fichajes, Sergio Barila — the agent of Cristhian Mosquera — has raised concerns within Valencia CF after publicly expressing dissatisfaction with the club's latest contract proposal. The report states that Valencia have offered an improved deal through 2028, including a gross salary increase to around €3.2 million. However, Barila reportedly believes the terms still fall well short of what Mosquera deserves given his ability and long-term potential. Advertisement The message is clear: unless the club improves its offer in the coming days, Mosquera could begin exploring options to continue his career elsewhere. Recently, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Arsenal have agreed on personal terms with Mosquera. After Valencia rejected Arsenal's initial €14 million bid, the club is preparing a new offer—the Premier League side hope to complete the deal for a fee over €20 million, with talks currently ongoing. Marca has reported that Real Madrid are already weighing their options for next summer's free agents. Arsenal left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly and Mosquera are among the names on their radar. Foot Mercato reported that Mosquera is on PSG's transfer radar this summer to continue injecting youth into the center-back position. A key player for Valencia, the Alicante native could be sold by the club to boost its finances. Nonetheless, it seems Arsenal have the upper hand in this race and if they present an offer that satisfies Valencia, then the Gunners will come away with the talented young defender.
